I think JB sounds like your man in that regard.
By the way, welcome Scooter.
Scooter welcome aboard. Drop by the check in desk so that everyone meets you. I live 15 minutes from there and would be happy to help. I would ask what your budget is per course first because we have a few like Innisbrook where they play the Pods Championship, but that is pretty pricey. And also, where you are staying, because that can play a major role in distance.

Josh, we are renting a house right on clearwater beach for an entire week. My plan is to golf at least 4 of those days there. Innisbrook is my must try course. The other days, just regula courses will be fine.
How much is Innisbrook btw?
Heck, maybe you and I can hook up! My wife is great and is on board with me enjoying myself down there.
Almost half of the year, I do not believe Innisbrook is open to the public. Only people staying at the resort. You can check out their info here...

As for other places to play around where you are staying.
Bardmoor is definately worth a try

Westchase is a fun one

Fox Hollow is a fun course as well.

Heck, there are tons of them. But I would start with those that I mentioned.
