We just got an email from Taylormade saying that they want to have a contest for Valentines' Day or for a Valentines day present. They are sending over two golf bags. One mens and one womans and would like us to have a contest around them. We should have pictures tomorrow hopefully. We are looking for suggestions on how to give these away. Any ideas?

maybe a small essay contest... something about your significant other, a special moment you shared together...

"Dear TaylorMade,

I fell for a wonderful, beautiful, smart, and witty woman. She dumped me. Can I have a bag?

Singlely yours,

Harry"

First, I would say have two separate contests. I know there's less ladies here than guys, but hey, it's a ladies bag and a guys bag. Let the girls have a chance at the ladies bag and the guys a chance at the guys bag. And I see nothing wrong with the drawings like we always have.

It doesn't matter how we do the contest anyway, the bag is mine however you do it! LMAO

Originally it was going to be them giving away a ladies bag and the contest would just be for that and if the men got it they could surprise their better half. (or find a better half with bribery of a free bag). But we convinced them (i think) to send a mens also.

That would be a story for the kids. When I met your mother she would have nothing to do with me. Then I remembered the free ladies golf bag I won and.......lol

I like Smalls idea, but it doesn't matter to me either way. It's pretty cool that TaylorMade is giving the bags away.

While I agree there is no problem with Smalls contest, time is a concern. We have a contest this Sunday and Monday night. We are also having a big raffle contest for charity this month. TM wanted to use these as giveaways for Valentines, so it leaves just a very small window.

just pick names... its always fun that way

Smallville

Then I vote for DD's way. Everyones names are still in there, You just want to be the first name pulled instead of the last. Which bodes well for me anyway! I still like the separate drawings for guys and girls.

yeah... sounds like the easiest way to do considering the time restraints.

one for women
one for men

bam, works

But if it is for a Valentines gift, maybe the men would like to give the ladies bag as a present and vice versa. I would like to hear some other suggestions or ideas if anybody has them

that is true... you'd have to assume that our significant others actually play golf

I'm not sure how to go about it. I think that what ever you do you should pick two winners. Winner 1 gets their choice of bag and then winner 2 gets the default. I know a lot of times Claire is looking to win to give it to her hubby. Plus TM wants it to be a Valentines giveaway so I would think they are hoping the winner will give away the bag to their special someone.

Here are the bags we BELIEVE are coming. The Monza Featherweight is the mens and the Corza stand bag is the ladies. We could be wrong, but this is what we believe should be here.

Decide on the contest and let us know.

CG,
We want to hear how everyone wants this to be done. Right now we are leaning on an automated system that just picks one name out of everybody and that person gets first choice. Then the 2nd name will get what is left over. We are still open to suggestions though.

an automated system should make it quick and clean... I wouldn't mind that

Well JB does Taylormade want you to do it anyway special, like you have done before with all the banter or do they just want to get the bags into someone's hand.

JB

According to last night, they really do not have a preference as long as the person takes a picture of it and that they enjoy it.

I'd love this bag... regardless of its performance features, its white!

What if you put dog treats on everyones name and which ever one your dog picks first, gets the bag. You could do a live webcast.

There's a contest kind of like this that I've heard of. This way is definetly cleaner. But if my dog was eating the snacks it would be hard to tell who was actually first.

Me too, I think she would just eat them all. The farm at the college by our house has cow pie bingo. That might be a option.:act-up:

Do a sign up thread for the bags, if the guy or girl want to give one away to their S.O. they can put their name in the other hat as well.

Put everyone's name on a range ball. Lucky JB gets to hit them all (no peeking at the balls!). The member whose ball goes the furthest wins. We're big enough now that the live webcast of THAT ought to go for awhile.:golf: And possibly throw out his shoulder.

Smallville
02-06-2009, 12:13 PM
That works for me DD!

Actually, Claire's is a great idea too. In fact, I really like it. You don't have to put a name on it though, just a number. ANd the number is associated with a random name. That even if he knows he is hitting #8, he doesn't know it's me and he hits it furthest. Could he work that out with the driving range? Maybe borrow a baseball chalk line drawing machine and the ball has to land inside that? Because he could hit a 350 yard slice that you might not find. Problem though, isn't the drving range a lake?

that white bag is gorgeous. whatever way you decide to do it, i hope its not a couples themed thing where you give both bags to the same person (even though it is V-Day). Im recently single for the 1st time in 14 years! lol, but i could give the ladies bag to my mom. shes a golfer, hehe....

Thats a good idea, but I would go with a par 3 and closer to the hole.

Well do it at night with glow in the dark balls and then when the groundskeepers show up in the morning to see it, well yell suprise.

But here it is from someplace out there!

I like the closest to the pin idea. Surely JB has enough pull to get access to a practice pin. It can even be a short-game practice green. Only problem is you have to mar a bunch of balls with a number. I also don't think it needs to be broadcast, if there's some fun pictures that could be posted.

As to one or two contests, I think you give both bags to one winner if it is really supposed to be in the spirit of valentines day. If the winner doesn't have a SO, maybe he or she will after they give their heart's desire a very cool, free bag!
