THP had a chance to chat with adidas Golf about a new shoe coming out this year called the Crossflex. Full of technology, without a sacrifice in style, in my opinion, these are some of the best we saw at the 2012 PGA Show.

Excellent JB! You are right, just badass looking shoes.

I am already an Adidas homer and I just absolutely love the lighter, sleek looking golf shoes as a walker. Mid June hurt to hear....but I guess good things come to those who wait.

Nice job on these Adidas!

The gray one and the black with slime I'd be all over...this shoe just speaks to me. Haven't been as excited about a shoe release than for this. Anyone have an early preview on the price of these beauties?

My only complaint with some of my Adidas shoes from the past is they are pretty heavy. Like my nuevo's. I much prefer a lighter shoe and I'm sure these will be very light weight.

I'm also a huge fan of Adidas golf shoes, they are by far the most comfortable golf shoes on the market.

I'd love to get a pair of these and hope they will be available in Wide (2E) widths. I had my eye on the new Tour 360 ATV with the orange bottom, but they are sadly unavailable in the Wide width. :(

As long as they have good cushioning, I'll have a pair by April!!! So many golf shoes feel as though they have less
cushioning, lower quality leather that drive down comfort. Seems if you pay over $100 for shoes you'd get comfort and
quality... Not the case anymore.

I love the way they look and the light weight. The permanent spikes concern me. How long would I except them to last? Am I renting them for a year? I know with replaceable spikes if I play more than 10-15 rounds the spikes look worn.

I guess the option is to buy multiple pairs so I don't wear any pair too often.

I think you will be surprised with how long you get out of them. While I have a few shoes in my rotation, I have only had issue with 1 spikeless shoe in terms of durability. Most of them last quite well as the material is different than that of regular spikes.

Actually no. Clothes are released by most companies seasonally. For instance Nike and adidas Golf both have multiple releases throughout the year as the seasons change. June will have both a shoe and apparel release.

Its nearing June and if I remember correctly these are due for a release sometime soon? Anyone in the know, know exactly when that might be?

I love the new more casual, spikeless shoes (love my True's) but I fell in love with the pics I saw of THP's coverage at the PGA show earlier this year. The gray with black stripe or gray with blue bottom crossflex's have my name on them.

Question for those whom have seen these, can these be worn away from the course? Let me say, that I get that all these spikeless shoes "can" be worn away from the course but most are either not good looking enough as a casual shoe or the rubber nubs on the bottom can be severely effected by walking on concrete that when called on for golf may not have the traction once seen.

I have to say that from what I have seen in the pics (and hope for typical adidas comfort) that I would like a pair of these just for casual wear and a pair for golf.

When???!!!!???!!!

Tadashi70
05-28-2012, 02:20 PM
It was a molded cleat with some good weight to the sole. Combined with ones body weight I don't see traction being a problem.
The entire sole seems to one piece and all the same dense material. Am I explaining this well?

I was really hoping for a black option with more going on. The White/Red looks great, but I hate buying white mesh shoes, impossible to keep clean. Unless the black look better in person they are pretty boring looking. I liked the gray, but I already have a gray pair of Powerband 3.0s's.

Tried these on today and they are light, I mean super light. It's as though you arent wearing shoes. Nice traction and another golf shoe that hugs your foot. IMO made for someone with a narrow foot. Being flat footed these shoes just didn't look good on my and I could see them getting stretched out of shape rather quickly. The white with back stripes and red high lights and black were available to try on, I'm partial to the white. At $99 I think your getting a lot of shoe that can be worn on and off the course.

Not at all, it really feels like you have running shoes on. The only reason I'm not high in them is my flat foot! If I had arches these would be in my collection right now. But I can put these over the TWs or even the Adicross (own two pair)

Have you had shoes without removable spikes before? Wondering how they hold up

If you count spikeless golf shoes, yes. But never with molded spikes like the Crossflex. I expect JB will have nothing but positives in his review. He has the foot for the shoe

I saw these Saturday for the first time. They had the White/Red and the Black/Slime. I thought the Black/Slime looked pretty cool. But like you Kmac, they didn't have me wanting to really try them on. Now I did try on those TW shoes, maybe I should have tried these as well. I thought they looked good, but I don't know something just seemed to be missing for me. I did think the traction pattern on the sole was pretty interesting. Doesn't look like slipping would be an issue.

Trie these on yesterday and they are super comfortable, I like the fit much better then the adicross. I am not sold on the sole design yet but it seemed pretty stable, but it was on carpet so take it for what it's worth. The all black with slime trim were very nice looking, I would think they would look best with pants over the other colors.

Was really excited for these to come out. After trying them on, i was kinda dissapointed. The TW shoes were more comfortable...with that said...while at GG, I was able to try on a few of the "spike less" shoe offering from Adidas, ECCO, Nike, Oakley and Puma. By far the most comfortable shoe was the Puma's (I have a pair of PUMA Jiggs and my feet cant stand them after 18 holes). Oddly enough went I got home and looked online on the PUMA website they shoes were not there..Did GG get a show not yet released?!?! hmm...Ill try and post pics when I go back to GG tomorrow and I will start a new thread...

sorry for the ramble..

Tried these on at the local GG and they were super comfy. I have wide feet and normally get a wide size but I didn't need them for these. I ordered the gray/black ones and should have them sometime next week (they're back ordered a bit where I ordered from). I tried on the tw's as well and for $100 less I settled on these for now since the tw's are not available in wides until later this season (yes with the tw's I do need the wides).

Not a fan of street style shoes at all, but love these crossflex shoes, especially in the white/red. However, I've just had an email from Taylor Made Adidas Europe saying that they aren't aware of a product called the crossflex and that there are no plans to introduce it into the EU. Gutted!

I finally got around to trying these on at GG. First let me say that these things are amazingly light. The TW '13 are actually quite heavy, heavier than a traditional golf shoe surprisingly. One reason I'm not a fan. Second is the appearance. It's definitely going to turn some heads, but it's basically an adidas running shoe plain and simple. The fit and comfort is exactly in line with that thought. The upper material is composed entirely of the breathable CLIMAPROOF material which makes it breathable and waterproof. Bingo! I don't purchase non-waterproof shoes regardless of comfort. Sorry Ecco Street Premieres.

It really has everything going for it: breathable, lightweight, comfort, style, good support and price (Sorry TW '13). The white/red will go perfectly with a couple of my outfits I wear. I'm not a fan of the black color. When you put them on and walk around it basically looks like a running shoe. You can wear it anywhere as an athletic shoe. If you're a traditional golfer and wear traditional clothing these probably aren't for you.

I haven't purchased them yet and was hoping they made them in a Wide. I don't like Adidas because there shoes are always so tight on me. Looks like I'm just going to have to buy a 1/2 size larger.

Really different shoes. The Del Mars remind me of that shoe that you slip on when you are done with your round and you say to yourself "Man it feels good to have these back on". These to me (early on) feel like that shoe that you put on for a day running errands and say to yourself "Man these are comfy".

JB how do these feel on the outside of your left foot as you finish your swing? That is a random yet specific question yes, but I've noticed on another non leather shoe by adidas that part of the shoe does not give me a stable feeling as it relates to keeping my foot centered in the shoe. More of rolling over to the left instead, make sense?

Ok so I went to the store to try these one and hopefully buy a pair or two cause I was really liking what I had been seeing and reading about these. Unfortunately it was not meant to be. Just like I had figured these were too tight for my wide foot. In talking to the salesperson at the store who checked his info from the mfg, this style is presently only available in "medium width" which is simply too tight for my foot. I was kinda bummed cause like I said I really liked the look of these shoes but in the end comfort won and these are just not going to cut it.

Not totally sure but I believe E. I know it is not regular or medium width.

I buy sneakers at Sketchers and get their "extra wide" shoe. Same with the golf shoes I own, also "extra wide". Dress shoes I get wide width and those are usually Rockports and Clarks.

I honestly do not know the letter correlated to the width. I looked on the shoes I had but nothing is listed.. I was going to say 4E but I really do not know. I do know that these were only available in medium width and in that just won't work for my feet. I did not try a 1/2 size bigger as there was at least 1/2 room on top of the shoe.

Just bought a pair in gray and really like them. I have not played in wet conditions, but the traction is as good as my Ecco Streets. And these are definitely more comfortable. I have a relatively narrow foot and heel. Because of that Nikes usually fit well, and I wear a half size larger in them than in most other brands. The Crossflex fit me like my Nike Free shoes, and I bought the same size (10.5) that I wear in them. I tried on the TW 13s and thought these were much more comfortable, which is unusual since Nike is usually my first choice.

Tried on a pair of these today at GG and I have to say that these will be my next pair of golf shoes. As said by SW, these felt comfy right out of the box. I am usually between an 11.5 - 12 in size, they only had the 11.5 in stock, and they were just a touch snug. So I'll be getting them in a 12 someone soon. Torn between the black/slime and the white/blue, though I did like the white/reda as well.

Lmao SW. Ddec you want those tony romo approved white and blue ones with the cowboys silver stripes. They're awesome. Even TC ordered them that closet cowboys homer.

That might just pushed me from the white/blue to the black/slime, LOL. :alien:

I was just asking to try to help...

LOL, SW is crazy. He's just kidding.

And yes, SW, the adicross are DEFINITELY different than the crossflex. These are much more comfy out of the box for me than the adicross.

He's a cowboys fan and he knows it. Buying shoes that might as well have the star on them.

Order from zappos.com that's what I did for the white and blue. Free shipping and I suspect they will be a bit snug so good thing.

Kmac will have these soon, and JB has them I believe. I'm seriously pondering these now. But I also want to wait a bit because these champ spikes I'm testing are nice as well...argh!

They seem to be a half size small or so. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

No, they might still be true to size - however I've had my feet measured I'm usually right in between an 11.5 and 12. The 11.5's felt great today, but perhaps a LITTLE snug, so I want to try the 12s out just in case they feel even better.

I tried on a half size big today and they felt perfect. So I'm a little worried my true size shows up tomorrow a little snug.

Ah, gotcha. Then perhaps they are a 1/2 size bigger...I need to try on a pair of 12's. Too bad my GG only had 11.5 and 13.

That explains more SW. I know Kmac and I were in agreement in the adicross shoes, and yet we were in the minority. Definitely try these ones on as they are quite different than those.

TC

Lol....I'm not a closet Cowboy fan. The shoes could be that of the Panthers variety. Maybe you guys have a thing for Camolina.

I don't dislike the adicross shoes one bit, and I think they're comfy, but they are literally the only street type shoe I've ever worn. Kind of hard to compare in that sense.

I sure am excited about these babies though.

I think you will like these TC they were pretty comfortable when I tried them on yesterday not Lunar Ascend comfort but still good. They are a bit snug though which surprises me because I had thought Adidas was always spot on.

Just slightly high on the toes right? (where they were snug)

I'm looking forward to getting them and trying them on for sure. In an ideal world, I would try them on before purchasing, but there's no such thing as anyone around here having a size 14 in stock. The worst that can happen is I have to send them back. I can live with that.

I don't really have a dedicated size in golf shoes unfortunately. I try in our reviews to base everything off those old metal sliders when I say something runs true to size. These ran true to size in length, but the top of the toe bed was slightly tight after wearing them briefly. Because of that, I went up a half a size and its been perfect. It wont be the same for everybody of course, that would be based on depth of foot I am guessing.

I hear ya. That's encouraging for me then, as I'm really like a 13 1/2.

I'm pretty stoked about these shoes. They're my first "baller" golf shoes.

And zappos will send out the size you need before you even send the old ones back, which is cool. You do have to call though but its worth it.

Yeah the size I tried on at GG fit quite well so Im thinking the size coming will be less Belbin approved and more Chunky approved. But I want white/blue so its worth it

True, this is a good observation. I want to hear about that from JB, TC and Kmac if they have the white pairs. I'm in between the white/blue and the black/slime. If the whites are hard to keep clean, I'll have to get the black pair.

I try and take really good care of my shoes. I have a few pairs some would say. For me, the first thing I do with Mesh is put a water repellent on it if I want it to remain spotless. From there I use Magic Eraser to clean them.

What do you use? That spray can stuff? Does it seem to keep them fairly clean? I ordered a pair of the white and blue ones.

nice Kmac. I do like the white and blue, but I think I'm leaning to the Black/Slime or white/red. With there was more Blue to those, similar to the style with the red.

I tried these on at Golf Galaxy last week. They definitely run 1/2 size smaller than all my other adidas golf shoes. Comfy as all get out. And very light. I tried on the white with red stripes and they are pretty darn sharp looking shoes.
