I was working with my pro and after he looked at my swing he said that i was getting off plane in my backswing. I was wondering if there were any drills that i could work with to keep myself on plane in my swing.

TC are you getting flat or upright? It would be helpful to have a video or stills of your swing, but one of the best I have come across is to use a chair with a back that is shorter than 48" tall. If you are right handed place the back of the chair on your right and have the back of the chair even with your toe line and the seat facing the opposite direction you are facing. You should be able to take the club back and not hit the chair for a back swing. I hope that explination makes sense. I will talk to JB and maybe this along with a couple of other drills could be added to out THP TV collection.

Interesting sounding drill...this is somehting I struggle with being consistent with and the days when I am taking the club back on plane are very good days...otherwise I tend to be all over the place (lots of compensating). I think I understand the drill as you explained it but I hope you can find time to put it on THP TV...thanks...

TC you are very close to where you want to be in the video. The one on the left is a touch flat but not bad. To me it looks like you are struggling to figure out what the hands are supposed to be doing. I would like to see you bring the club back lower and slower to start. This will help get the hands in a better place and should help keep that club moving on a good plane. The drill I described earlier will help as a check on your plane. To go with that I would like you to place a ball behind your driver at setup and when you go to swing I want you to try and push that ball straight back a couple of feet. This will get the club moving slow and low and should give you a different feel with the hands and their position. Let me know how this works for you.
