I just posted a question in the "Ask the Pro" section about the benefit of the weighted irons like the momentus, etc. I also want to see if anyone else has any feedback regarding these.

I have one but I haven't used it in a long time. I actually never really used it that much after I got it with the exception of a few warm up swings prior to starting a round.

Does anyone have any experience practicing their swing with these? Do they help? If so, how? I know that if you want to dislocate your shoulders, all you have to do is swing one as hard as you can! :dazed: But I'm looking for something more along the lines of helping my swing.

With the cold, short days of winter approaching I won't play quite as much and I don't want to have to re-learn my swing again when it warms up again.

I have the iron one as well. I try and use it to loosen up and if im hitting my irons bad I take it to the range and swing it 5 times then hit 5 balls. This seems to get the feel back in my swing some. Irons are my weakest part of my game usually.

I own the Momentus. In my early stages I thought it helped. I use it now just to get loosened up. My golf instructor that I see on occasions has the Matzie Swing Assist and I think it's an overall better swing trainer...

I have a Momentus as well, I think, at least that is what it says on my Wilson putter haa haa, but I'm not sure if its weighted or not, it feels quite light, but came with my full set.

I can't for the life of me find the thread. But on some other board a year or so back there was a short discussion between two guys who were using the version of the Momentus that can actually hit a golf ball. One swore that its use got him on-plane and improved his lag. The other guy swore that it almost ruined his swing (completely messed up his timing and pivot).

I can imagine either one being true.

I have a weighted wedge I swing almost everyday. It helps to keep things loose in my swing. I also work on my release with it. My brother just sent me the driver version which I have not used yet.

You are right about injuries from swinging too hard. I have two friends who suffered the same injury at different times that they both attribute to swinging a weighted club. Not sure what they injured but it was something under the right shoulder blade. Both had to give up golf for 5 or 6 months, and do some rehab to get rid of the pain associated with the injury.

I have a Gotcha Weight that you just place on your club to loosen up. I do this at the range and before each round. It is just a rubber weight that you place on the shaft and you can change the swing sequence/speed depending on how high you place it on the shaft. It not too heavy so you have a lesser chance of pulling a muscle.
