How many sets of irons have you owned since the start? I'll start....

1978 or so: a starter set from JC Penney. Don't know the brand but they were names Augusta. They were blades.
1985 or so, I got another set, but don't remember what they were!
1992: Browning 500 low profile irons
1995 or 1996: Goldwin AVDP irons
2009: Nickent 4DX CB
2010: Cleveland HB3
2011: Adams a12OS

Starter set (Wilson box set when I was a kid)
Cobra 3100 I/H
Nike VR Full Cavity
Ping G15
Callaway Razr X Tour

I feel like I have owned relatively few set:

Started playing in 1980 with my Dad's hand-me-down set:

1980: MacGregor blades
1983: Spalding Lee Trevino cavity backs (another hand-me-down)
1988: Ping Eye originals (yet another hand-me-down)
1992: Callaway S2H2 blades. First set I bought for myself, but they were pre-owned, and this was before the Big Bertha came out.
1996: PING ISI Becu. First brand new set I ever bought for myself.
2003: Nike Pro Combo - first year Nike made clubs.
2010: Callaway X22 Tours.
2011: After a brief romance with AP2s, I settled on my Mizuno combo set.

Three pages in and I'm surprised by that there have been 2 sets of Bob Mann Who Dinni irons and 3 sets of Wilson Blue Ridge and only 2 sets of G10's.

Also surprised by the low number of TM r7 irons as it seemed everyone in my club had a set of those a few years ago.

Been playing since I was 8. I have had 4 sets:

Tommy Armour SilverScots
Taylor Made Oversized
Mizuno MP-52
Taylor Made TP CB

I find a set I like and stick with them for a while. Plus being left handed, it's hard to try out clubs that often and find one I like.

I have been playing for over 40 years.
Spalding 'Championship'
MacGregor (can't remember iron model, still have the persimmon woods though)
Ram (Laser?)
Ping i2 - played for a long time, 15 years maybe
Mizuno MP32
Adams A-4 forged

I started playing in the early/mid 90s.
- Wilson ProStaff
- Tommy Armor 845s (still kinda' miss those guys)
- Nike Machspeed SQ (current set)
- Pondering Ping G20, Bridgestone j40 DPC, or Titleist AP1

Only one set of Brownings! I only know one other person who had a set and his were the 440's.

I've been playing for three years now and have had:

Adams A2 irons
Taylormade Burner 2.0 irons
Wilson Staff Di11 irons
Taylormade R11 irons

I lost count a long long long time ago but based on extrapolation of buying patterns over the past decade and including re-buying the same set, I would easily peg the number at 125 sets since 1995

Wow.... I feel like such a miser:

1. RAM Lasers Muscle Cavities (I think)
2. Nike VR Full Cavity (Current)

New set coming next summer though!

Started around 1996 or 1997. 3 sets.
A set of Lynx clubs (starter set of irons) until @2004 when they got crushed (in a hard shell) by United baggage handlers
I recouped @ $650 dollars from their insurance and this allowed me to buy the rental set that I had to get at the destination I went to and played decently with.
That set was the Mizuno T-zoids and served me pretty well for 6 more years.
Then got a hankering for a custom set which is my current Vega's late 2010.
Very happy with my set and these will likely be the last set I buy unless I break 80, then I'll treat myself to a backup set (Miura's or something from the Kyoei foundry).

Since 1974....

Spalding Championships
Browning 440 Plus
King Cobra clones "King Snake"
Tileist DCI 990
Callaway X-20 Tour
Taylormade Burner 2.0 (current set)

I've only had three - been playing for just a few years.

My first irons were from some random box set and were called 'Scorpios', hahaha. I then purchased Wilson Staff Di9's and then made the switch to the Di11's last year.

First played when I was about 10 in the mid 80s with my Dad's old cut down MacGregor Tourneys. Honestly don't remember if I owned anything else before taking up the game again in '94.

That was when I got a summer job at a golf club after second year at university, and bought some Wilson Staff Progressives (used for about $200).

Literally used those for 10 years, then moved away to Europe and hardly golfed again until 2009. Bought the Adams Idea Pros I currently use - my new shafts will arrive this week. For the first time ever, I will have some irons that give me the chance at some decent consistency. Have hit lots of good clubs over the years but just never pulled the trigger or got a fitting. Very excited to see how it turns out.

Started playing in 1955 with a cut down set of my fathers Spalding irons. I couldn't even begin to count the sets of irons I have used.

Earl

I've been playing for 24 years so I can't remember how many sets I've had. I know I went through almost two sets a year while in college. I'd have to in the teens for the number of sets

Tapaway!
