TaylorMade ATV Wedge - Everything You Would Want To Know

I'm only thinking 60 because that's what I was hitting so well at the Outing....haven't listened to the show yet so my opinion may change but I'm only referring to the known right now. My current set up goes only up to 56 so maybe 58 is where it's at

The podcast said Justin Rose was a 52, 56, 60 guy, and I know an awful lot of people who use that same setup. But, he decided the 56 was so versatile that he dumped his 60 and switched to a 64. He uses 56 for everything, unless he is in a tight spot and needs the super lob 64.

That really has me pondering. I use 50,54,58, and while I use the 54 out of the sand the most, I use the 58 for shorter bunker shots. I cannot imagine using just a 54 as my sand wedge.....but maybe a 50/56/62 setup??? (because you know, my short game is every bit as good as Justin Rose!)

interesting. I used to be a 50,54,58 guy but no with the stronger PW's I've gone to a 48,52,56 set up to help eliminate issues between the PW and GW...I can't fathom a 62 or 64 wedge....and neither can P4B's ankles

See, I go back and forth with that; 50/54/58 or 50/56?

Ahh, ok. Listen to the show, and you will see what I think a 56* would be enough to be versatile with as a 60* type club.

Ive gamed both set ups and Im sticking with the 50, 54, 58. I like having the 58* but dont want anything more then that.

Just finished listening to the radio show. Good stuff. I found the 60* ATV I was swinging at the outing to be a pretty versatile club. I really liked it for full swings, it sets up so nice at address for those. Hit some decent bunker shots too. The forum testing should be awesome.

I just checked the TM website, and they don't offer a 62. WTC? 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60 and 64. I realize they were trying to simplify things, but it seems unlikely I would buy a 64. I'm afraid I would hit myself in the face with the ball. Maybe I would just bend them and go with 51, 56, 61.

Great show JB !!
Mike Fox is a great guy and really knows his stuff.
I'm a 52-56-58 wedge guy and can't wait to hit the ATV's.

Great show! It was very informative.

I have looked at these wedges, but have not had a chance to hit them yet. I really like my current TaylorMade TP xFT wedges. I have been contemplating hitting these things...maybe I need to quit procrastinating.

Hoping to get my hands on these this weekend at a big demo day in St. Louis. Reading up about them in the TM THP demo day review thread peaked my curiosity, especially after I heard they were a good wedge for those of us that like to dig a little bit. I will be interested in the stock KBS Tour shaft as well and how they feel compared to others out there.

That is exactly my preferred setup and thoughts.

Thanks for the great show JB. Mike was very informative, and I am one who has about come full circle on these wedges. I've been so happy with my current wedges that I really didn't try any other wedges at Demo Day, but will try the ATVs when the next opportunity arises. I am one of those that has never been comfortable with choosing bounces, and I really appreciate the versatility that TaylorMade has put into the design of these.

Does anyone have a picture of the face of the ATV wedges? Even the TMG website doens't have one. They have pics of the sole, and 2 pics of the back, yet are lacking the most 2 important images: an address picture and a face picture.

Type "taylormade atv" into Google Image search and you'll find what you're looking for. I don't want to post pics from other websites on here.

Yeah I did that :), couldn't find any great pictures, but I guess I'll just have to go to GS or EW tomorrow and take a look see. Might even buy one:clap:

Pics from InHartWeTrust are the Japanese version of these wedges, which are forged and also have a different finish from the domestic version.

Great show, been hearing a bit about these wedges and I agree I have been so confused with the different loft and grind and bounce options that I just have no clue what I need/want when it comes to wedges. I've been eyeing the ATV's just for the fact that I just pick a loft and go, looking at the 50, 54, 58 combo myself.

Oops...but dang, what a bummer. I was digging the looks from those pics.

The version available to us still looks really nice in my opinion.
Yeah, I know they changed the finish and the rear graphics a bit from the first run of testing that they did, but I guess i'll just go take a look at them in store.

These sound fantastic. Would love to get involved in the forum testing for these. Been looking to try out a different loft setup in my wedges anyhow. I've heard nothing but good news on these babies.

Finally snuck away from the girlfriend long enough to listen to this...very interesting. I have been in ponder mode on about 3-4 different wedges for months now, and now this is added to the list. Feels like I would be selling myself short not to give these a long, solid look.

I will have to keep an eye out for the testing thread. I would love to be a part of that.

I think the Rose story about dropping the 60 for a 64 is realllllly interesting.. That's quite the compliment to the wedge design.

Thanks for this JB, this wedge is pretty serious.

Listening to this now, great information JB and a big thank you to Mike Fox. Looking forward to the Forum testing, I would love to try this wedge out, my short game is the one aspect where my game is lacking.

I agree heartily with the above statement. I'd love to try a possible replacement for my near worn out Vokey. I use it for so many different shots, I'd love to see the real versatility of this ATV wedge.

I've been looking at these as well as another option not readily available to demo and like the overseas version as well. Will have to go take a swing when I get back from Phoenix instead of just looking at them. Another great listen! 64 has been on my mind as well.
