Please bear with me. I played a little (very little) golf in college. I was never any good but enjoyed it from time to time. As with most things in your late teens/early twenties, I had a couple of choices & golf lost out to my rodeo scholarship.
Now being in my 30's, rodeo is long behind me and my boat mostly sits unused, I need a hobby. As a sales guy with a customer base of golfers, it seems as though I'm going to take it up again. My wife, who's never played, has decided to sign us up for lessons at a local course, so we'll see how that goes.
I'm going to ask stupid questions, please forgive me as my only knowledge is from over a decade and many beers ago.
