Oreo and The Time Change

:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Sorry Harry I meat the popcorn for the love birds, lol. It came up as an option when I hit the spellcheck on here. I'll look for the googlebar lite, thanks.

We have a spellcheck here?

I like the Googlebar Lite one because it is automatic. It's always on.

And the reason I like the Googlebar Lite search bar is because you can highlight search words on search results.

Smallie, you have to love that one, lol. :banghead:

Harry, I found it. It's installed and ready to go. Thanks a lot!

Yep, it's in the upper right hand corner... abc with a blue checkmark under.

Is there a setting I need to make it automatic?

The next time you post, right click in the text box and make sure the "check spelling" option is checked.

I swear, I don't have the abc with a blue check mark. Do you mean the browser, or the forum software? I mean, it's no big deal because I use the Google one, but I'm curious.

I have it--it's the Google toolbar, and I'd never paid attention to it before. Thanks! No right-click spellcheck option, though.

Maybe it only shows up in the Firefox version?

Maybe it only shows up in the Firefox version?

Or because it's a different version of the toolbar? When I hover over my checkmark it says, "check spelling of text you type on any web form in English." So perhaps it only checks fillable PDFs and the like.

That's odd, but your right it's not there. I have three item's on the right and you have two. I don't see the thesaurus option, or what ever they call it.

I am completely lost.

Right next to Decrease or Increase size, to the left is spell check on mine. I have fire fox, but I don't use it. I right clicked and it works good, but didn't give me the MS word spelling options.

Is spelling correctly on a forum really that important? I enjoy deciphering posts - including my own at times. The errors make me laugh - including my own at times.

I catch other peoples, just not my own?? Not really important to me unless like Smallie said, it changes the meaning so much that nothing makes sense.

Yeah, I checked and it is there when I use IE. Weird.

Googlebar Lite is only available for Firefox. Googlebar for IE seems to work differently. There is an "autofix" option in the toolbar.

Right--but it doesn't. At least not on non-forms.

I prefer that forum posts follow these rules:

  • It is important to never ever under any circumstances split an infinitive.
  • Its very important that you use apostrophe's right.
  • Join clauses good, like a conjunction should.
  • Just between you and I case is important.
  • About them sentence fragments.
  • As far as incomplete constructions, they are wrong.
  • Check to see if you have any words out.
  • Don't abbrev.
  • Don't use commas, which aren't necessary.
  • Don't use no double negatives.
  • Don't never use no triple negatives.
  • Don't write a run-on sentence you have to punctuate it.
  • Each pronoun agrees with their antecedent.
  • In a letter themes reports articles and stuff like that we use commas to keep a string of items apart.
  • Never use a preposition to end a sentence with.
  • The active voice is preferred. Use of the passive voice is to be avoided.
  • Verbs has to agree with their subjects.
  • When dangling, don't use participles.
  • No sentence fragments.
  • Complete sentences: important.
  • Stamp out and eliminate redundancy.
  • Verbs HAS to agree with their subjects.
  • Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
  • And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.
  • It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.
  • Also, always avoid annoying alliteration. Be more or less specific.
  • Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are (usually )unnecessary.
  • Also too, never, ever use repetitive redundancies. No sentence fragments.
  • Do not be redundant; do not use more words than necessary; it's highly superfluous. One should NEVER generalize.
  • One-word sentences? Eliminate.
  • Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake.
  • Never use a big word when a diminutive one would suffice.
  • Kill all exclamation points!!!
  • Use words correctly, irregardless of how others use them.
  • Understatement is always the absolute best way to put forth earth shaking ideas.
  • Use the apostrophe in it's proper place and omit it when its not needed.
  • Eliminate quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."
  • If you've heard it once, you've heard it a thousand times:
  • Resist hyperbole; not one writer in a million can use it correctly.
  • Puns are for children, not groan readers.
  • Who needs rhetorical questions?
  • Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement.
  • Avoid those run-on sentences that just go on, and on, and on, they never stop, they just keep rambling, and you really wish the person would just shut up, but no, they just keep going, they're worse than the Energizer Bunny, they babble incessantly, and these sentences, they just never stop, they go on forever... if you get my drift...
  • Never contradict yourself always.
  • Never go off on tangents, which are lines that intersect a curve at only one point and were discovered by Euclid, who lived in the sixth century, which was an era dominated by the Goths, who lived in what we now know as Poland...
  • Remember to end each sentence with a period
  • Don't obfuscate your theses with extraneous verbiage.
  • Never use that totally cool, radically groovy out-of-date slang.
  • Keep your ear to the grindstone, your nose to the ground, take the bull by the horns of a dilemma, and stop mixing your metaphors.
  • Avoid those abysmally horrible, outrageously repellent exaggerations.
  • Last but not least, avoid cliches like the plague. (They're old hat)

Right--but it doesn't. At least not on non-forms.

It worked when I tried it on THP. The misspelled words are bolded, red, and underlined. When you (left) click on them, a list of alternatives pops up.

I'm sorry Smallie - I think in tangents. Something pops into my head and I go from there. I like changing the channel.

Oreo is very upset by the direction this post has gone! I typed that so I could check the left click... don't work.

That happens around here duey. Just gotta roll with it! hehe

(Tell Oreo I'm sorry!)
