Sligo 2011 Spring Catalogue!

What did you end up picking up?
- 09 White Hoffland (with the Orange)
- Black Gavin

I'm still undecided on what to get for the 2011 Line. my plan is to have a shipment a month until April, so I can have a decent selection for next year's season. :)

my goodness, I finally had a little more time to explore the 2011 catalog and "attempted" to make a list of what I liked. let's just say that I didn't get too far but I'm pretty sure that I'll start out with these pants and build on it. either the Vegas Plaid or solid Vegas; solid White (I hope they're not see through); and solid Orange. there's so many things I liked that I can wear with multiple pants. oh man, I'm gonna be in trouble next year. LoL.

anybody else having the same dilemma?

MD177, we spend an extensive amount of time when we design our collections to make sure each colour way is carried through the entire collection. If you are buying orange or vegas pants we want to make sure you have at least 4 or 5 shirt options to pair them up with. We want to make sure when you buy a pair a pants you have many options to change things up and make new combinations. That way you are not limited to 1 shirt and pant combo. Then you throw in the belt which gives you so many new ways to change up the outfit!

Also, the white pants look great!.
(and won't be see thru)

I have an excel spreadsheet... one side has all the pieces I want broken up by category (tops/bottoms/etc), then on the other side I have a mock order with an approximate total (so I can figure out what I can afford at the time).

Sooooo... I guess that would be a yes...

haha. I look at numbers all day long at work so it's refreshing to see outfits during break times and such. it's funny coz my golf outfits almost outnumbers my office clothes. and I took golf more seriously for about a year. LoL. that looks like a very nice list TC.

@ couldbeu: that's actually a great idea on the spreadsheets. I'll have to come up with something like it. ;)

is it me or do you guys see the 2011 Robinson have the Digitiles pattern in the back? if it does have the Digitiles pattern, that will look awesome with the Digitiles pants.

I'm really looking forward to putting together:

Black Robinson
White Strap w/ Black Tour Buckle
Black Digitile Pants
Not sure if White Tour Cap or Black Tour Cap... Even better... They should come out with Digitile Caps!!!

Great minds...

more of a general question for the Sligo guys.....how do you come up with your designs and color schemes? Without sounding like an art critic, where do you get your inspiration from? Player input? Current/Future trends? And how long does it take to go from concept to design to final product?

here is the response from Aaron

here is the response from Aaron

Inspiration and design comes from a variety of sources. Aside from
being in the fashion industry and studying those trends, let me explain
a few sources that might seem a little more “abstract” and
contribute to truly unique designs.

I remember driving down the road one time behind a transport truck. As
we came to a stop at a red light I glanced down to notice a pretty cool
design on the mud-flap and quickly sketched it. After some
modification and adapting it to the back of a golf shirt… the
“Austin” was created.

The Digitile pattern came from my Visual Art roots and obsession with
architecture. Moroccan tile work has some of the craziest designs
you’ll ever see. I wanted to portray the fresco /hand-drawn feel but
as a modernized version… our Digitile pattern took about 40 hrs to
draw.

The Grange & Federation style came from many conversations with Brian
Gay. He really liked the fleur-de-lis style so we drew up a few ideas
and put them together. Although they don’t work well with corporate
logos he is always texting us the comments he gets around the course.

This could turn into a really long response, so to keep it short… the
world is full of lines and colours (if something is appealing to you,
there is a visual reason). I keep a sketchbook nearby at all times
because you never know what’s going to inspire a new design. Some
ideas take a lot of modification to perfect, and some pop as soon as
they’re on paper.

Timeline? We just finished fall 2011 and are currently working on Spring 2012.

Great response! I am both fascinated and envious of your unbelievably amazing abilities and skills.

can we please have a few more teaser pics? LoL

Thank you for the quick response! I really love to know the 'behind the scenes' stuff when it comes to where a design, line, etc come from. Really loved the story about where the Austin design came from and the fact that Brian lets you guys know about the feedback he gets from what he's wearing too.

That was a great response! Thanks for sharing Sligo, special shoutout to Aaron! I've noticed we've seen more of Aarons work associated with THP, and he does an amazing job on those projects as well!

dear aaron,

you're a talented man! please design a wicked THP tattoo for me!

that's right, i'd rock one in a heartbeat!

Very cool insight into the Sligo design ideas. Good stuff!

I'd rock a tattoo Aaron put together... Only problem is the next year he'd tweak the design a bit and I'd want that one too... Next thing you know I'd look like a biker! Haha!

This is starting to sound like the beginning of a great thread:
1. Best/worst tattoos (Mike Tyson quickly comes to mind) or
2. Golf shirt design you love so much you'd have it tattooed on your body?
Ok, I just googled "worst tattoos"... I take the Mike Tyson back, his actually doesn't seem that bad now.

But thanks everyone for all the comments on the new collection, every little bit of feedback is read, considered and noted.
(... back to the drawing board for TC and couldbeu's tattoos...)

I think I rather Van Gogh my ear than Mike Tyson my face...
I had an old girlfriend that had a cartoon character tattoo, but she said the more she looked at it it started looking like a piece of the male anatomy so she had it changed into a flower. I also question what all the chinese characters really say on people's bodies as oppose to what they think they say.
On the flip side I had a friend in high school design a tattoo of the grim reaper ripping out of the skin. He designed it for another friend of mine. It turned out awesome! I always thought if I got one I would get some sort of dragon tattoo since I'm half Chinese. Don't know that I would ever actually pull the trigger on something like that...

Not sure if I have a golf shirt that I would tattoo on my body... The '09 O'Brien in McKenna and Chrome/Orange still stand near the top of my favorite shirts impressive to last the test of time... I do think you could do a "Grange" design that could look pretty sick. I could have a Scriver interrupted stripe going around the arm with my old college baseball #10 filled with the Digitile pattern.
