Your Favorite Golf Destination

The Palmer course, River's Edge, just north of Myrtle was a real surprise for me. I thought some of the holes were absolutely beautiful (along a marshy/swamp/river setting). Better be sharp with the irons because some of the greens were tight with not a lot of room to miss. It was fun and worth the 40 minute drive from main Myrtle.

Last week we stayed at a place called Avi Resort, which is just south of Laughlin NV.

Provisional,

This brought me down memory lane. My extended family used to do about 3 trips a year to Laughlin. This was back when I lived in CA and Laughlin wasn't all that far away. I loved it... a little boating/skiing on Lake Mohave, a little golf and everything else the town has to offer.

I don't believe I have played Mojave Golf. I will have to give it a run on the next go around.

Banff Springs. Wow. And way up in the mountians so your drives go further!

Must plays in GPA:
Troon North
Gold Canyon Golf Resort
eaglemountaingolfclub.com
http://www.sundridgegolf.com
we-ko-pa.com

I could go on and on but not knowing your area of stay and budget, I could list more.
I posted the above courses but it automatically linked to these websites? The only good one is Gold Canyon. You may have to use your own search engine for these:
superstitionmountaingolf.com
eaglemountaingolfclub.com
sunridgegolf.com
we-ko-pa.com

There are many others but not knowing where you are staying and if you have a budget for fees?

Gulf Shores, Alabama. Excellent golf along the Gulf Coast.

Would love to hit New Mexico for what appears to be fabulous golf.

Not being from New Mexico but currently residing, it has been a very pleasant surprise. There is a mix of nicely kept cheap city owned public courses to nicer privately owned but public courses like Sandia, Twin Warriors and Paako Ridge (Sandia is a resort/casino too, Twin Warriors is at a resort called Tamaya). Some of the nicest courses I have played on. Also south of Albuquerque by a couple hours is Inn of the Mountain Gods while North, Santa Fe has some good golfing as well. If you're looking for a good trip of Golf without breaking the bank New Mexico is a great place.

Too answer the OP's question my family and I take an annual trip to Palm Springs/La Quinta to coincide with the BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament. It is that cheap but if you are a Golf and Tennis fan then it makes some more sense by hitting two birds with one stone.

If I were looking into great golf with minimal cost tho, New Mexico would be hard to beat. Just as much sun as Phoenix/Scottsdale but not all the heat.

My favorite public golf destination is Bandon Dunes.

That is very high on my list of places to visit/play. Which of the courses did you enjoy the most? When I go, I will have to spend an additional day there so I can be sure to get in the new course as well, Old Macdonald.

When I lived in Oregon I was lucky enough to spend a good amount of time at Bandon Dunes. Pacific Dunes is by far my favorite course there. It is just incredible. Bandon Dunes and Bandon Trails are great too. The whole place is just pure golf. I also played Old Macdonald right before I left and it has the chance to be very special too. If I had to say right now I would rank 1. Pacific Dunes 2. Old Macdonald 3. Bandon Trails 4. Bandon Dunes but they are all fantastic!

So far I really like the Grand Lakes Resort in Orlando. I have been going there a coupel a time a year since it opened and love the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott hotels. The golf course is a Greg Norman designed resort style course that is prety interesting.

I have a timeshare at the Grande Vista, just around the corner on Internatioal Drive. Faldo Institute on the grounds and Grande Pines across the road. I have driven by Grande Lakes a couple of times looks great.

Orlando does have a lot of good courses. I love the Hilton Head area.

Love to play in the Hilton Head area. Second favorite area would be Sarasota/Bradenton. Terrific courses to play at either location.

I'D LOVE TO PLAY PEEBLE BEACH AND DISNEY! Disney cuz i'm a kid at heart.

One of my favorite places is anywhere I'm teeing it up with a THPer, whether it's Florida, Nebraska or one of our courses in KC.

(Or any other unmentioned place)

Nice... If your in Toledo Ohio area sometime. I'd be more than happy to play golf with you.

Was just in Orlando for business and managed to squeeze in 27 holes at Grande Pines along with a 3 hour full swing lesson at the Faldo institute. So many nice courses down there...some I have played include Celebration...Southern Dunes...Orange County National...Dubbs Dread to name a few.

Pebble Beach is my bucket list course

Well, since I just played it this past Monday for the first time, It's gotta be PEBBLE BEACH! Played Spyglass Hill on Sunday followed by Pebble on Monday. What a great two days of golf. My other favorite is Edgewood-Tahoe! Northern California golf if awesome!

As much as I love Bandon and truly believe it is a special place, the experience I had in Scotland playing some of the great courses was absolutely second to none. Ayrshire region on the west coast, Fife/St Andrews region on the East Coast.

I'm jealous! I would also like to play the old course too.

I agree, in my short time here I have been privileged to play with 6 THPers and every one are absolutely great people to enjoy a round of golf with. Something about being with others who share a passion for the game at a similar level to your own.

My favorite course that I have played is the Legacy Course in Bradenton, FL. I have played some great courses, including Cog Hill Dubsdread, home of the BMW Championship. However, the challenge and beauty of those course makes it my favorite!

Has anyone experienced golf in British Columbia, Canada? We have some of the most breathtaking courses in the world. Throughout the province you can play anything from desert style courses to european links style courses and everything in between. I strongly suggest anyone who is willing to travel here to look it up. Summer would be the best time but allot of the courses are year-round. Bring rain gear just in case!
