For those that have been keeping up with the MB and MC threads, are the testers over there seeing a 10yd loss per club as well?

Hanks,
Great info from the writeup today. One quick question based on my testing is that I see that the turf interaction with the thinner sole is leading towards solid divots, yet with the clubs with the wider soles I found those clubs bouncing off the turf rather than taking huge divots. Im guessing you are seeing something totally different? That the wider soled X-24s when caught heavy are digging?

One thing I do want to say to avoid confusing anybody reading this thread is:
These irons are not designed to be long like a 2.0, CG16, or S3, which is why there is talk of losing distance. Personally, I have not 'lost' any distance compared to last season. I have tested longer irons, but again, they were designed to be longer. The CB's are designed to deliver maximum forgiveness and higher ballflight while maintaining as many qualities of a 'players' iron as possible. Some are going to prefer an iron that is designed to be longer and some will not. In the end, it's a personal decision that should be made after demoing as many sets as possible.
Bam! Truth stuff right there.
I do agree with Hawk. However, some of the testers within this thread (and the other threads) have "distance" irons in their bags prior to receiving these. As an avid reader of these threads, I think it's ok to ask whether or not a tester would be willing to sacrafice distance in exchange for feel/accuracy/abilitly to better control flight.
Absolutely and it's something I think about as well. I just didn't want any of the readers that we don't hear from to get the impression that these are inherently shorter than irons that are similar in loft, length, etc.
I hit both the R9's and 2.0's about a month ago and really liked the R9's which is why I'm waiting for these new irons to come out first before I buy. The 2.0 had less feel the more I hit 'em but I could tell the ball was shooting off the clubface. The R9 just gave me more feel when struck. Not hard to believe that these new clubs would be shorter than the 2.0's esp. when a 2.0 PW is going 140! So I will patiently wait for these clubs to come out in the next 2 weeks...........Right on bro! I agree. In fact, I believe the CB's are similarly lofted to the R9 irons, which are really only 1* weaker across the board than the 2.0's, so it's not like it's anything huge.
At address, the CB's look almost identical to the R9's to me, so if you are a R9 iron guy, you might want to check these babies out.

One-T, did you ever get a chance to hit that 3-iron?
So, the Fedex guy just dropped off a 2.0 6 iron for me to try out. I will be able to get a decent idea of my thoughts between it and the CB's. Well, the 6 irons at least.
Skimming a little here but maybe you are playing a shaft that is better for your swing? What were your old irons again? I think they were the CG7's. What shafts were in them?
Good stuff, One-T. I'm getting antsy to take these out on the course again. It's supposed to be pretty nice this week, so hopefully I'll get out one night.
Awesome notes one-t. Doesnt change my mind one bit.
Solid write up little brosuph! You did real good with that one. I'm pretty pumped to see you digging these irons so much. It's great to have confidence in your irons and it seems like yours is increasing.
your still wanting them correct?
All very good stuff. Hopefully, GG has these irons in stock today so i can test them out (and assuming good results, purchase them).
I know there's been discussion of mixing and matching before in this thread as well as the others. However, most of us who have purchased our wedges separately from our iron set I suspect purchased a blade wedge. Maybe I don't pay attention enough, but it seems like most individually sold wedges are just pure blades. I hit my 56* wedge just fine. GG sells this in a 4-AW set. I think I'd be just fine without a 3 iron (shouldn't create much for distance gaps). Would there be any reason not to get the AW in muscleback? (NOTE: as i'm typing this and scoping lofts on the TM website, I note that they don't show that they have an AW in muscleback). Or what about the PW and deloft it 1* to match the CB PW loft? Those would be the only two clubs that I actually take a variety of swings.
Loving the info everyone.
