Tell us which course is your Home course

I don't think I would call this my "home course", but it's the one I've played the most. Fun, challenging little course. Really small greens, and NO sand !!!

I'm a member of the Warrior Golf Club in China Grove, NC. Very nice course with great staff to help you out.

do they send you "free" clubs and demand that you pay for a bunch of other clubs later on? hahaha... j/k

Here's the club the Esox clan calls home.

Fun place. Lots of events for the members, competitive men's and women's clubs every Saturday morning, and possibly the best junior program in the state.

It took it a little hard due to flooding last Summer, but since we've had two 100 year floods in the last three years, I'm thinking that should be done until early next century. I hope to still be a member and playing at 140 years old, but I'm not counting on it.

and there's a lot more to choose from.I'll problely try at least 4 or 5 more this year and they are all within a 30 minute drive; some quite a bit less.

How about a recommendation? I hope to drive through Kansas this summer. My preferences are: no houses on the course, good conditioning, a reasonable challenge and good folks to play with. Length is not a problem. Thanks for any input.

If you are going to be in the KC area, if you can get up to the north end, I highly recommend the Paradise Pointe golf courses. My favorite course in the area is the Outlaw one that Jeffann has listed. I play Hodge Park wuite a bit, also up north. Shiloh Springs is also in the norhtland and I like it but don't play it too often. Very tight, but a fun round. Haven't played many courses in Kansas, so Smallville or Jeffann would have more info on those.

Paradise Pointe in Smithville has two pretty tough courses. The Outlaw and The Posse. One is Links style, but I don't remember which. Sunflower Hills is a real test. And long. Beware of fivesomes though. Falcon Lakes is probably my most favorite course right now. It's Links style. Has houses but only on a hole or two. You have to really hit it bad to come into play. Tiffany Greens up near the airport is a pretty tough course; the Seniors used to play there as a Tour stop.

I knew you'd step in. I forgot about Tiffany, and my wife was a beer cart girl there the first summer were married. I've played it a couple of times, but, I don't feel it's worth the $75+ it can cost if you don't catch a good deal on Golfnow(THP now). The Outlaw is the links style course at smithville. It plays out to the lake and then comes back from it. My favorite course in KC. Good challenge but fairly forgiving fairways. The greens ont he other hand, lots of subtle movement in those that drive you crazy all day long. I may have to try Sunflower myself sometime. Smallville, we should definitely get together to play that one as I keep hearing good things about it.

Lefty, let one of us know when you will be in town as the weather here can kill a course pretty damn fast, so, depending on the time of the year can really help determine what course to play. And, if you're looking for a course with some history, KC does have a public Tillinghast course, Swope Memorial. It's in Swope Park which is the second biggest urban park in the country, behind Central in NY. Great old course, not very long, but definitely a good challenge and much fun. http://www.swopememorialgolfcourse.com/

Ryan,

Sunflower is good, but if you're going to come out this way (Sunflower is by Verizon Amphitheater), you might as well play Falcon Lakes, which is about 5 more miles north. I can call MO_Hacker and Jefffann and see if they want to play it.

I've thought about falcon Lakes, I just don't get out to KS very often. That sounds like a plan, we will definitely have to all get together and get in a round out there.

Thank you, I find a lot of really good courses by word of mouth.

Thanks for all the good suggestions, I will try to make contact through THP if I get the opportunity to do a trip this summer. I played some of the courses around Kansas City a few years ago and found them to be in top condition and most importantly, the folks were fun to play with. A knee replacement has me laid up right now so that pretty well rules out my favorite month for road trips, May. Thanks again.

Mercer Oaks. It is actually a public course with two sets of 18 holes. The East course is a links style course while the West is more traditional. Really enjoy the course, they do a great job of spreading out tee times and making sure place of play stays up. Both courses are kept in great condition and the rates for in county are absolutely incredible and fairly reasonable for those out of county

Sorry to hear about the knee. Hopefully you can get healed up and rehabbed soon. If you don't get out before the first half of July, I wouldn't suggest coming until sometime in September or very early October. Humidity here sucks from last of july through first part of September. If you do get out, let us know. We can try to meet up and get a round in. Of course, there is always next year :smile-big:

Well, in about two weeks, my new stomping grounds will be Fayette Country Club. Currently, Horse Creek is home.

I'm thinking about changing clubs this year from www.cordovabaygolf.com to Olympic View Golf course. Its further from my house but it has a much better practice facility, and overall it will be cheaper for the year.

I play out of Championsgate, http://www.championsgategolf.com/
Two courses, The National and the International...great driving range and Leadbetter is at the far end of the range. Great club fitter on property.
