Are there any signs?

For league lately my pattern has been to have a solid warmup, play 4-5 practice holes anywhere from even to -2, then proceed to play like lukewarm garbage in the round...

For me, no. I can be smoking it on the range and be absolute trash on the course or vice versa.

If @ddec tops it off the first tee you might as well hand him your money.

Likewise when @Hawk sends the perfect motivational message…you know things are about to heat up.

If I am looking forward to playing: bad. If I don't want to be there: good.

If I am looking forward to playing: bad. If I don't want to be there: good.
This is so relatable. I almost always play my best when it's a last minute round. When I realize I suddenly have a free afternoon and go grab a tee time.

The rounds I look forward to for days or weeks typically turn out poor.

Not at all for me. It is a crapshoot every time i play what will happen.

All rounds are good rounds when score is irrelevant.

Hit it great on the range = bad round
Hit it bad on the range = anything can happen

Joking...sort of
kind of exactly how I feel. If I'm hitting the ball well on the range I can almost guarantee I"m going to play like crap. God forbid I birdie the first hole, I"m about to struggle to break 100.

If I can post up comfortably on my left side and maintain my finish until the ball lands, I know the day can't get too crazy. If, on the other hand, I'm hanging back at all or flipping my hands at impact, I know anything is possible...
