Been out of the game for a couple of years and getting back in again.
I own the handheld GolfLogix8 device (standalone device not the phone app) that I had used previously...and still can. But I know that they have released a phone version now as well - along with other vendors (ie. GolfShot). I loaded up the GolfLogix handhed software on my PC again and see the options are still a) one course for free or b) $29.95/year and get unlimited. It looks like the phone version is $20/year for now (says regular $39/year) with many features added. That being said, the pros that I recall to my handheld is 1) 2xAA batteries vs. phone battery (which runs down quickly - so would carry an external battery charger) and 2) is a device dedicated to this function as opposed to the phone being multipurpose.
Curious if anyone has had one and made the switch (or decided to stay with the standalone device) or can address any other pros/cons. I have an Android phone. Thanks in advance!
