Calling all THP amateur doctors!

I've been dealing with some hip pain that is progressively getting worse. When I was younger I used to play a LOT of golf, I was on my highschool golf team. I took a big break once I got out of HS and college (about a 10 year break).

I started up golfing again about 4 months ago and up until about last month I had no issues at all. Then all the sudden one day I noticed a little stinger on my right hip right above my inner thigh. I figured it would go away, but it hasn't it's just gotten worse. The stinger never went away, and became more and more painful.

I've begun to constantly walk with a little limp, whether it is noticeable to other people I do not know, but when I put pressure on my right leg (walking) and release the pressure I feel a short sharp pain that causes the limp. When I wake up in the morning and put my pants on I literally have to brace myself when putting my left leg in because all the pressure caused when standing solely on my right leg makes it feel almost like it's going to give out.

I notice no difference after a few days of rest.

I'm only 27.

Today I went to the range, despite all this (can't stop golfing!) I experience the pain after rolling forward onto my right leg while rotating (I'm left handed) then releasing the pressure. After a full bucket of balls I was limping back to my car.

Anyone ever experience this? For you righties it would be your left leg or the leg you rotate forward on impact.

No clue. I've had hip pain more on the outside of the hip, and that responds pretty well to some good stretching before playing. I assume you have no obvious health issues and are in a shape other than round...I'd go see a doctor were I in your position.
Might have pulled/torn something?

I'm 48 and I have the same thing. I've been doing some roofing work lately so I just figured it was from all the climbing up and down a ladder.

Does it hurt when you cough or bear down?

Any burning sensation, numbness, tingling?

Does ibuprofen / tylenol help it?

Go to a real doctor. I think that's the best advice anyone here can give you.

Some of the real doctors here (sorry Frank ad ary) might say whoa when I say maybe try a chiropractor first. Maybe you just need a good cracking.

I had elbow pain that a month off with no golf, and a lot of stretching exercises has gotten better. Also had my chiro crack it a couple of times.

I went to a Titlelist Performance Institute specialist for back pain and the exercises I was given after a appointment have done wonders for me.
My guy came recommended from GolfTec.
Hopefully some exercises from a expert may help you also.

Check out mytpi.com and check the site out there may be a pro in your area that can work with you.

Frank is the best amature doctor we have.

And Frank would next ask you Jacob how does that make you feel? hehe
Well... It kind of makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.. But what does that mean????

It could be clamidia???sp? LOL

Like a hot sensation with nerve problems not a burning with urination because of a STI.

Oh. Well I'm glad you cleared that up. The question not the STD.haha

I am 59 and have been having very similar issues. A trip to the doctor revealed I have degenerative arthritis in my right hip, and down the road will likely need hip replacement.

Since you are 27, I think it is less likely that is your issue, but it could be rheumatoid arthritis, which is much more reversible w/o surgery. One question is whether it hurts all the time or only when you are in motion. If you have difficulty laying on that hip and trouble sleeping, it is more likely bursitis instead of arthritis, again much more reversible.

By the way, before I was diagnosed I thought I had pulled a groin muscle that was healing slowly - that was what my pain was similar to.

Thanks for the info ... no numbness, burning, itching, bumpy, herpie (lol), sensation at all.

It hurts almost only when I apply pressure to my right leg, then release the pressure ... the best way to explain is while walking ... the pain comes when I step down on my right foot, then release. When swinging a club the swing itself doesn't hurt, nor the rotation itself but when I release my finish after those 2 seconds or so admiring my glorious shot, and relax it's the motion of taking pressure off my leg/hip and then going back to a neutral/ favoring my left side lately standing position.

Real Doctor is the best, but I had been dealing with pain in my left hip that wouldn't allow me to do most anything normally. Chiropractor, Doctor, CT Scan...all produced no answer. It progressed to a point that even sitting a certain way would cause me frustration and almost unbearable pain. Couldn't even sleep on that side. As an option, my doctor prescribed Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablet pack and within 3 days, it was night and day. Just my story...seek a professional. Good luck!

Could be a nerve impingement of some sort...

Being so young, I would head to the drs and have it checked. I get a shot in my right hip when it gets so bad it hurts to walk. (along with arthritis, I have bursitis in my left hip)

Cortisone shots are not the best for you BUT they will help with pain...

:drinks:

I had a nerve impingement in the top of my quad for a few months earlier this year. I had packed on some "excess baggage" and it caused me to have the impingement. Lost some weight and it went away as fast as it came on.
