Now that this bad boy is available as a stock option in the Mavrik line of woods, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it. I had played a version of it early last season. My swing and game were in a bad place and I ultimately decided to sell it and recoup my hefty investment. Now that it's a stock option, the likelihood of picking it up at a decent price is looking a lot better.

Have you guys demoed it yet? If so, any thoughts on how it compared to what you are currently playing?

I really like it. I have one coming to put into my epic flash. It is pretty mid/mid in my opinion. Has a decent feel a touch of kick. I am having it tipped an inch because while I flight the ball low a bit with the driver, I don't need a ton more spin. So if I can increase my launch and keep the spin down a little, I would be happy.

I am considering getting a mav 4 wood with this shaft but in an 80gm version.

The demo shaft I held had a little bit of play in it. Tipping would probably be a good idea. Felt to me like the kickpoint was pretty pronounced in the mid section. But, that's without hitting a ball with it.

I would agree with this feeling.

Not that I didn't like it. I am very interested in getting one to try. Just a little different than I remember.

For a mid kick shaft, I found it very stable.

Seemed like a good stock option for what they're trying to achieve. Mid kick and balance that felt smooth, but I wasn't a fan. My quicker tempo seemed to exaggerate what felt like a noticeably softer tip. Launch wasn't good. I think a lot of people will love it though.

So, big shocker. But, I am tempted to buy a new golf shaft. I see that the TX Rogue White 130 is going for roughly $120-130 on ebay right now. I had one a while back but made a poor choice in weight based on the balance point. Thinking I may need to go with a 70TX or maybe even an 80TX this time around. If I decide to pull the trigger that is.

I just started playing the Rogue White 130 70s that has been tipped 1/2" in my Ping 425 LST driver yesterday and so far so good. I also have the 425 Max head so there's been a little back and forth recently between those two heads and a few shafts. I have a long history with Aldila shafts including the Tour Green that I play in my fairway woods and a 4 year stint with the Rogue Silver 70x I/O(Epic SZ) so the slightly boardy feel is something I like.

For those looking for this shaft with a Callaway adapter, an option is the CPO store where drivers with the Rogue White 130 can be had for as little as $180-$230. Keep the shaft and sell the driver head on eBay - I've done it before and gotten into shafts that I like for less than $100.

You crack me up! But I love it. What club are you putting it in?

It’s on sale. I have to buy it. Haha. This would go in the big dog.

80 seems a bit much then. But may work.
It probably is. It’s the balance point that has me considering it. I like a 70 gram shaft. Raise the balance point and I tend to lose the feel a bit. Thinking the 80 would essentially play like a 70 but with a little more weight up top. I don’t know. Just how I have it worked out in my head haha.

I’ll likely go back and forth forever on it. I May have suffered a season ending injury so I have nothing but time to figure it out.

what happened??

Back injury. Maybe more old age than an injury haha. See a back specialist tomorrow. A couple procedures on the table (minimally invasive). No fusion or asking like that. Radio frequency ablation or something similar with the disc. Just have to pinpoint the pain source first.

dang that sucks.. good luck!!

I've been playing the 70 gram all season and have been pretty impressed. Outside of those horrible swings it seems to have helped take left out of play which is a huge thing for my fragile mental game.
