The Home Renovation Thread

Went to the house to check things out and the gutters were done, BUT half of them had downspouts in the wrong places that I’d discussed with builder along with just some places that don’t make sense. I’m no rocket scientist but placement like shown below just doesn’t make sense, so builder not only has to have a bunch of the guttering replaced but siding where it’s screwed in has to be replaced. I was pretty po’d bc it’s just annoying bc I had discussed everything with the builder, but I guess it’s whatever. He’s fixing it on his dime.
This one I think should kick out towards field but maybe I’m wrong…

This one is supposed to be on the corner to the right where the drainage pipe is sticking out of ground. (Discussed with builder).

This one should be all the way to the right where two rooflines meet and comes down to a drainage pipe as discussed with builder. I mean running across concrete doesn’t make sense to me but what do I know.

Since cabinets and flooring are pushed to the month of May now, I went into my Lowes account and pushed delivery date of my appliances to 5/17. Ugh.

Gutters are fixed, but still have 2 pieces of siding and a piece of the black metal to be fixed on the bottom of the j-channel where they had cut it for the gutter, but builder will fix it. Other news...our french door is not black like stated. It is like a slate blue color and now has to be painted...but all of our outside doors are being painted black. I'm just ready for all this to be done.

All drywall is going up today though according to my builder.

Drywall hung. Mudding and sanding is going on as we speak. Turned in our colors for paint to the builder as well. Painting should start next week and then the hardwood flooring is going down the end of next week as well right after paint is done. I assume doors will be painted soon after. The gas lines from the plumbing side are set to be inspected, just need the gas company to come set the meter and do their part. We are a little behind now but builder was real bad sick last week and one of his crew members mother's passed, so it was a rough week for them.

Went over on my lunch to check on the house. Mudding/sanding still going on. Then went into the laundry room noticed that the dryer vent was placed too far to the right. We bought a magvent for ease of pulling dryer away from wall if there is problems or just to clean the vent tube and builder has had it for weeks. Now he has to cut drywall and have siding replaced on outside of house bc he didn’t pay attention. He’s a little annoyed but I told him I wanted it fixed.

Not really a home renovation, but looks like I get to replace my pressure tank. Need to look into if this is something I can do or need to hire out. BOOOOOOO!!!

Might as well get a new pressure switch while you’re at it.

Replaced that last summer. That one is easy at least, not clue about the tank, have never messed with those.
I typically watch a few YouTubes to see if I want to take on a task or not. Unless it’s a must do, like my leaking water heater was last year.
