I am fairly new to golfing (4 months or so) and when I play shoot between 105 and 110 pretty consistently. I am using some pretty low end clubs they really don't feel good when striking the ball. I think its time to upgrade. My brother has a set of ping i10's he wants to get rid of for the some taylormade burner plus clubs I've seen used on craigslist locally. I could play the pings in july when I go visit him. I just don't know if they are too good of a club for me (ie forgiveness wise) and don't want to pass up the tm burner plus clubs if they are better for me. Was just curious on the thoughts of those that have playing way longer then me and with more experience with clubs.

I'm leary of anything on Craigslist. The i10s are not super forgiving, but a good iron nonetheless. Have you hit any other clubs? There are more than a few options on the market.

Jelloseed, here are some clubs you can get at a pretty good price brand new. There are also review threads on THP of these clubs that you can read up on. It would be good if you could get to a big store that might have these that you could hit first to see how they feel.

The online store in these suggestions is a good one, but, you can google the irons and find other sources and possibly local sources near you that you can actually see and swing them. You can also use the search button at the top of the forum page and find reviews of these on here. Good luck in your search and with your game, and welcome to the forum. I think you'll like it here.

Thanks for the input. I will check them out!

Wilson puts out some awesome irons for great price points. The Di11's can be had for a song. I bought a used Di-11 8 club set on ebay for $150 shipped. Can't beat less than $20 a club.

Of the ones you listed which would you suggest? The burner plus or 2.0?

I personally have the Burner 2.0 irons and like them alot - they are super forgiving and LONG if you hit it on the screws.

Good luck with your decision!

Muchas gracias on your input. I really appreciate it!

I too would stay away from craigslist.
I would think the 2.0's would be a good club.

First, welcome to THP! And listen to these wise fellow THPers. They know their stuff!

The 2.0 is a generation after the Burner Plus and one would expect has a few "enhancements". All are pretty good clubs and it would be great if you could get somewhere to at least hit them to see which feel best to you.

I am in the exact situation as you. As of now i have played with my uncles callaway diablos but he is still using it so my dad lent me his mizuno astron generation 2. They are old but i tried swinging with them and not too bad. I asked my uncle if i can have his callaway big bertha from the 90s he said yes but i have yet to claim it. I will decide later on which to keep but from what i read the mizuno is the best for begginers tho

All great advice. My two cents worth would be - take a lesson or two to make sure you are not getting into bad habits. If your swing is on the right track, you will start hitting more good shots with all clubs..then go hit lots of different ones - and see what feels right.
