Why do Tour Players use staff bags?

For sure it is, but couldn't you have a fairly similar amount of ads on like a 5lb carry bag? Maybe slightly smaller ads but accomplish mostly the same thing.

Not in the same visual manner. In a game so hung up on status, the staff bag is THE symbol of that.

It's because they're all poseurs! Only poseurs use staff bags!

I suspect it started with the first OEM'S - Wilson, Slazenger, Dunlop, Ping, Ben Hogan etc,when they began referring to the professional golfers who were contracted to play the Company's equipment were referred to as staff. Their bags became known as staff bags .
