    Cougar Golf Ball?

Anybody used these before? I had a client that went out and bought these balls at wal mart I believe for cheap and he left his balls for me to use because he was flying back to chicago and didn't want to bring them back. I used them and I have to say I liked them. I got really good distance with them. The ball felt kind of weird though. It had the octagon dimples but it was not smooth it was more of a sharp impression.

Just curious. Maybe there is some background to these balls that makes them decent.

If they are the ones I am thinking of, then they are a two piece distance ball. Here is the link.

I'm pretty sure that is the company. The packaging was different though. It was green and white. Maybe they were discontinued models. Does a 2 cover give it more feel? Surprisingly they held up really well. He got the balls for $10 for 18 balls. This is not my ball of choice but it wasn't horrible by any means.

In MOST cases a two piece ball will not have the same amount of spin as a 3 piece or 4 piece ball. But according to the latest issue of golf digest, the biggest difference in feel and spin is the cover. Urethane will give you more spin while Ionomer or something harder will be less.

I had a box of those balls last summer and they worked OK. Decent distance but no spin. They would be tough to beat for the price though. Last time I saw them on sale at Wal-Mart, they were less than $10 a dozen.
