I'm generally a stiff shaft but went with an extra stiff in the Fubuki. It was night and day really. The stiff was too whippy for me. The xtra-stiff tightened up the dispersion for me but has a much higher launch angle than i'm used to with my 910 D2 with axivcore shaft. I had it set to R, which lowers the loft by 2degs, bringing it to 7.5, but still with a high flight.

I have a miyazaki black on order in extra stiff and should have that this week also. I'm hoping that this will bring the trajectory down to where i want it. I would love to be able to have the two shafts with Str8 adaptor so I can play the fubuki on those days that i'm not wind affected and the black for the other days, but it seems impossible to get an adaptor. Has anyone found one....even an aftermarket one? Ebay have none and I don't think the VRs is going to sell like the 910 series so they will be few and far between.

Tadashi and Joshzilla, can you tell me if i put the setting to R, does this invoke a draw? I'm a leftie, so i'm wondering if this swops it around.
Miyazaki Black in Extra Stiff? Holy shmoly that's a stout shaft!

As for your question about settings, I'm probably not your go-to guy because I don't have my VRs yet (should ship from Nike today or tomorrow) but yes like the Titleist 910, settings should be reversed for a lefty. I can't say that setting it to R for you will invoke a draw, but it should help you get the face in the right place at impact to improve your chances of a draw. Is that a politically correct enough answer? I would recommend adjusting the lie angle before face angle.
    In my Ogio Grom bag:

    Driver - Titleist 9.5* 910 D3 w/ Proforce V2 66g stiff
3 wood - Nike VRS w/ Diamana Blue 83g stiff
    Hybrids - Nike VRS 18* & 21* w/ UST Axivcore Black 100g stiff
    Irons - Ping i20 4-PW w/ Dynamic Gold s300
Wedges - Nike VR Pro 52/10* & VR Pro DS 58/10*
    Putter - Odyssey Metal-X #7 33"
    Ball - Srixon Z-Star XV

Have you tried the black? It's only stout at the tip, its actually quite butt soft. I tried the blue but not the black so its a bit of hit n hope with it, but i got a great deal on ebay for it so we'll see how it goes. Its currently in a Cleveland DL310 so i'm going to hit that and see how it performs before i pull the shaft.

Yes Josh, well said. I'm actually happy with a soft fade, which is my go to drive, but i just liked the R setting as it lowered the launch angle slightly. I need to get myself onto a trackman monitor with these drivers and get some figures so I can make some comparisons.

I've hit the Black in a Classic driver. Great shaft, but I don't swing fast enough to stand up to an x-stiff.

I didn't think i did either but was hitting the blue is xtra stiff so well. My ss with a driver is about 105-108 so we'll see if thats enough. I should have it tomorrow so hopefully its just the ticket for the VRs.

Are you ordering directly from Nike? Trying find a place that sells VRS shafts at a discounted price is impossible to find.

Christmas in May...my long lost VRs 8.5 made it's way back home today! I was worried that they would put the same shaft back in (long story). Was so happy when they pulled it out of the back with the Project X 6.5 in it. Was wanting to go with the black version, but the fitter said it would not be beneficial to getting my ball flight down and go blue. They saved my grip and even put the shaft label towards the back as requested.

Bad news, tweaked my back a couple days ago playing soccer with my son. With having ordered it originally with Fubuki Xstiff (shaft broke inside the str8 adapter/which obviously caused the adapter to crack in two) and having issues with too high of flight, I'm looking forward to hitting it. I am jealous of Freddie's devotion, but couldn't see spending the extra dollars since I'm STILL waiting on my VRs forged (PXi 6.5) irons to come in.

I can attest to all the posts about ball flight being high for quite a few people on the stock shafts (regardless of flex I think) with a higher SS. Guessing the tip is the weakest link across the board. Will update asap.

Had that beauty looking back at me all last night and decided I would give it a go today. Back wasn't 100%, but the adrenaline kicked in when I got to the sim. I visited a couple sites (GS & PGA Superstore) to make sure it wasn't a single sim operation. Also took my ProType 2-ball and received a quick fitting while at the PGAS, ended up cutting my 35 down to 33 3/4. Man...what a difference!

So here is the average from around 10 balls at each location with around 3 thrown out from each:

    SwingSpeed 111
    Ball Speed 161
    Launch Angle 11.0
    Azimuth -5.4
    Side Spin 273
    Back Spin 2703
    Total Spin 2725
    Descent Angle 41
    Carry 281
    Total 306
    Offline 10.37
    Peak Height 38.89

I'm thinking I will like this new setup a lot and open to any and all feedback!

After reading all the posts about the upcoming event, I am really jealous! Hope you all that are going have a great time (given) and looking forward to the reviews as well (maybe more) the story's.

I was in Birmingham, AL a couple of weeks ago on business and had to leave my TM Superfast 2.0 at home because it was too long for my travel bag. I played at Ross Bridge (RTJ course - awesome) and their demos were Nike. Played the 9.5 degree with stiff stock shaft set to neutral. I was not really too thrilled about playing it, but had no choice other than to stick with 3W. All it took was a few swings on the range. Love everything about the club. I am not sure if it is as long as my Superfast, but I know it is easier to control. I had one of my best driving days with this club to be honest. I was getting good distance but consistently being in the fairway was a nice thing. When I get time, I really want to get on the launch monitor and compare to my current driver. Might have to make a change.

What affect does neutral, flat (4*) have on ball flight?

Last week Lucas Glover was so frustrated with his new Nike VR S driver that he gave it away to a kid in the gallery. I can't speak for executives at NIke Golf, but I'd be willing to bet that they were not happy with their new multi-million dollar product being thrown away in disgust on national TV.....

Just got done with a range session. I need to get use to this longer shaft. I've been playing a 44.5 or 44.75 for so long. Half my shot felt I kept hitting off the heal. Even though they were heal shots, they went straight and went about 230 which shows how forgiving the VRS is. Never had a problem hitting off the heal so can't compare to my previous drivers. The shots that were flush felt like smooth and really took off. I could feel it immediately.

Hopefully, my next session will be better. Its been almost two weeks since I swung the sticks due to the crazy Chicago weather. Hope this nice weather is finally here to stay.
