Well I almost ordered some tubes of this but then my mom immediately walked in and told me I'm not allowed without even knowing what it is. I love supportive parents.

Okay, I played a short little "executive type par 3 course" today and decided to give the Nuun tablets their first test in Texas.

Conditions: Nice Sunny day, temps right at 80* with a 15-20mph breeze

Ease of Use: I bought a 16.9 oz bottle of water at the pro shop, got to the first tee and dropped it into the bottle. I had to break the tablet in half to fit into the bottle, but that was very easily done. As advestised by the time I hit my tee shot and then got back in the cart and drove to my ball, the tablet had disolved and there was no signs of any particles or anything else in the bottle.

Taste: I tried the Lemon-Lime flavor today, and I have to be honest, I am NOT a fan. It tasted almost exactly like a Alka-Seltzer Cold Medicine tablet, even though there was no fizz left in the bottle, it still had the Alka-Seltzer type taste. I am not sure about other flavors, but I would not buy this flavor myself.

Effectiveness: Honestly, I didn't feel any different than normal...but I played better than I have in like years....so maybe it kept me more focussed and in the "grove". I normally drink Poweraide or Gatoraide on the course, so as far as electrolytes and things like that go, I think those take care most things. Its hard to say...like I said, I didn't feel a big boost of energy or anything like that but my perfomance was improved, so I will have to say there is not enough evidence to make a determination at this time.

Summary: The taste was not horrible, it's not like I spit it out....but it wasn't enjoyable either. I have the Grape Flavor left to try and I will see how that one goes, either tomorrow or Friday.

Well, that's not a particularly glowing review of the taste, haha.

if gatorade or powerade don't do it for you, these won't either... to oversimplify things, NUUN basically creates calorie free sports drink

but if you find a tasty flavor you like, and that drives you to drink more water/nuun on the course, then that's a good thing
you may find the less sweet taste to be more appealing than gatorate or powerade (I find the tri-berry nuun to taste better than the pre-made sports drinks)

Nice write up TBT. Interesting that you didn't feel too much...I really thought it was a subtle feeling of being more in balance and not sluggish.

It's hard to say JN, like I said...I didn't really feel any different....but maybe that alone was a reaction...the fact that I didnt seem to get tired during the round and I did play WAY over my head today...LOL

Well I would have most likely shot in the high 90s or 100s the way I was feeling when I first sipped my nuun drink...I was feeling sluggish and had just gone double-triple on the 2nd and 3rd holes. I ended up shooting a 92 that day, which in itself is telling for me...if I start that poorly, I usually aren't able to turn it around. I did, somewhat, that day.

I know what you mean, it's easy to spiral down when that happens. Like I said, maybe the fact that I wasnt tired and sluggish and played really well was because of the NUUN....time will tell.

Just hope Grape tastes better than the Lemon-Lime.

Someone is going to have to take one for the team and incorporate some alcoholic beverage overindulgence into their testing. These seem like they might be just the ticket for helping to lessen the severity of a hangover.

After reading the reviews I think I am going to have to try this stuff. I usually only drink Redbull at the start of my round and then a Gatorade or soda during the turn. I don't feel tired after playing but I guess I'm just used to it. Hoping these will give me a little pep!

Great reviews so far! Colt, I really liked the analysis you gave on page one!

I wonder how this would do with my gym sessions? I work out pretty intensely and sweat out a good bit. I understand this is a golf based testing but I'm just thinking out loud. Could be a nice boost at the gym.

you really only need to worry about replacing electrolytes if you're going to be working out hard and long, as in over an hour of straight cardio at a good pace (covering 6-8 miles of running for example). if you're not doing that much cardio, you don't need it.

people in general over-suppliment, and take things they don't need.

I don't take any supplements. I just drink a lot of water and exercise. And I do work out pretty hard. I usually do 3-4 miles and then do circuit style training. It's a pretty non-stop workout that generally lasts about an hour and a half.
