Lately I seem to have been having a lot of conversations about 'feel' and what it means to the ameture or even if it matters. Broadly speaking, the arguments go like this:

Feel really shouldn't matter (and it is suggested it doesn't in fact matter) to the typical ameture...whether a club is forged or cast, made out of stainless stell or carbon steel (titanium or composite) shouldn't and doesn't make a difference and that all the ameture should be and is concerned with is making decent contact and getting the ball to go in the general direction of the target. Those who believe in this theory also say that those who don't believe in it have bought into the marketing spin and are really no different from those who bag clubs just because the pro's play them.

The other arguemement is...Feel is a part of what makes this game so enjoyable and that whatever level you're at, whether it's one or 72 shots off the sweet spot of a club...we all play (to a significant degree) for the chance to feel/see that pured shot/putt/chip...as this is one of the important aspects of the game...those who believe in this theory say that feel is important no matter the level of golfer and that all the different design elements, especially in relation to materials and construction matter...whether you'r tiger woods or a weekend hacker.

Which side of the argument are you on?

There is not a better feeling on a golf course than when you hit a shot and it just feels pure. You hit the ball absolutely perfectly.
