Hello and again, thank you for this service GolfTec and THP! It is truly wonderful.

I have a family member who would like to get a swing analysis done. On his mishit he will usually lose the ball to the right because he claims his body will swing though the ball before his hands. He is looking for some drills he can work on to prevent this and maybe just some drills to work on that will allow him to fix anything you might see needs attention in the videos below. Thanks again!

Emanthei,

Your family member is somewhat on the right track. It's not that the body is too far in front of his hands causing a late position, it is simply an inability to release the golf club sometimes. His grip is very, very strong which, most of the time, helps square the clubface. In his case, the grip is so strong that he has difficultly letting the club head "swing" into the back of the ball which will result in his push to the right. This is a tough fix because the grip should go more to a neutral position. The only issue is that everything will temporarily go right until he can learn to let the club swing into the ball. I would have him watch some videos on grip and then release of the club provided by PGA Tour player analysis. He has pretty solid mechanics overall but is lacking a little when it comes to the moment of impact. Address the grip and the release and he will be on a better track for solid ball striking.
