    Fanning backswing = open clubface

Out of nowhere I have developed a fanning open of the club in my backswing causing an extremely open face at the top and .... yes; shanks, and weak-thin slices. Any good drills to fix this? I have never had to think about where my hands, arms, club were in my backswing and now this....

If it matters; I recenlty got new shafts and was fitted to +0.5". Before now I have only ever played standard length.

    Thanks!

A couple of things have helped people in similar situations:

Feel like you're squeezing a golf ball between just above your wrists for the first part of the takeaway. That typically keeps the hands working together and not wanting to flare or roll.

That, coupled with the sensation of keeping the clubface pointing at the ball until it gets to parallel to the ground will, if anything, force you to roll the face closed, not open.

    Hope that helps,
