I don't know how many of you know about Movember but I have been doing it for three years now and each year it grows bigger and bigger and raises more and more money for prostate cancer research.

So far I have all my friends and family doing it, my whole office and anyone else I can convince to donate to the cause.

If you don't know what it is, please check out http://ca.movember.com/ or http://us.movember.com/

Basically you grow a moustache for the month of November and collect donations from friends and family and coworkers, who are supporting your moustache. Its really fun and you get to have a sweet moustache for a month and it sparks a lot of conversation which is the point. Someone asks about your "Mo" and you tell them about why you are growing it which is to bring awareness to prostate cancer and that men should be checked.

This is NOT a thread for donations to anyones Movember cause, but I would love to see pics of anyones "Mo" as they grow it for the month and would love to see all the finished "Mo's" at the end.

That is awesome CB. I am going to check the website out. I might have to join in on this.

Mo's only?

Good to spread awareness. That's an awesome cause. Thanks for sharing CB. I'd join in if I could grow an actual 'stache. :D

Mo's only?

They have their rules on the site as to what you can grow and how to go about it, but there are plenty of Mo options. It was actually started by a small group of Aussies about 5 years ago, and has now spread all over the world. Its pretty cool what they have been able to do.

Sweet, so you get to look like a 70's pornstar and help a great cause.....I'm going to check it out.

From the website:

[h=2]ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN[/h]During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

ABOUT_3.jpg

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Movember - a global movement
Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.

No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, and to act on that knowledge, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.

In 2010, over 64,500 US Mo Bros and Mo Sistas got on board, raising $7.5 million USD.

Big steps have been taken towards changing attitudes and habits relating to men’s health around the world, but there is still much to be done to catch up with the women’s health movement. Via the moustache, Movember aims to fulfill its vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health by continuing to spark conversation and spread awareness of men’s health issues each year.

Man, If this were a chin-strap growing thing, I would be all in, but I just cant grow a mo. Great cause though!

But this year I want to go with something else. I'm still "coolbreeze'ing" myself.

Very cool CB, good on you man. I already keep a stash and work won't allow growing below the corner of my mouth, but I could circle it up, haha

That looks nothing like you dude. Is that you?

Naw man, just a pic I found as an example, I wish I was that handsome.

Back in Alabama, we would do "No-shave November" and raise money for different charities. This seems to be similar to that concept. Havent read over all the "rules", but what if you currently have a beard or mustache?

It says you should start the month of Movember clean shaven and then grow your moustache. I'm sure nobody would shave a long term real moustache just for this.

Great idea and thanks for bringing attention to this CB !

Being a colon cancer survivor myself, I really appreciate the efforts to bring attention to any and all types of cancer and the research for a cure.

Neat idea. Thanks for posting this, Breeze.

This is a great idea to aid a great cause!

Always wanted to get a group of people in our work to do this, but interest always wanes. Go grow coolbreeze!

I'm kinda cheating cos I already have the beardness.

I did this last year and raised maybe $200. Not too bad. Towards the end of the month my wife wouldnt even kiss me. She was repulsed by the mo.

This sounds like a lot of fun and a great cause. I'm in MO ponder MOde

I just told my wife I will be doing this and she was like "well don't expect me to kiss you in November"..lol On a serious note, my grandfather and uncle both died from prostate cancer so this touches near and dear to me. I missed out on this last year but not this year. Pondering going to Pedo thin stache or biker handlebar stache.

Skim alert! I just created my profile and it says that we can make a team. Is anyone interested in making a team?
