    Callaway Hex Control Golf Ball

I was in Costco today and found they were selling Callaway Hex Control golf balls 2 dzn for $29.99. They are 3 piece ball with a trionomer cover. Does anyone know if these are the same as the new Hex Hot just under a different name?

    Thanks

Interesting. I wonder if it could be leftover stock of a previous line that they gave a different name to move specifically into Costco.

Saw them today also. Costco had a ton of new Callaway stuff including gloves, Cary bags, and a Full Razr set that looked like Diablo Edge equipment.

I saw them at Costco too. I emailed Callaway and asked if they were a previous year's ball or a new ball for Costco and if so, what ball in their line it was most closest too.

They emailed me back and said, "In response to your inquiry, the golf ball in question is made exclusively for Costco and is not available through other Callaway retailers."

That's it. I'm wondering if anyone has played this ball and what they think about it.

I find it hard to believe that they would create an entirely different ball for Costco.

It very well may be the HX Diablo or similar just rebranded. And if it is a new ball, I doubt much R and D went into a distance ball for Costco.

Agreed. Just like half the other items in there, they'll change the model number slightly to designate wholesaler. Hex Diablo is a good guess.

I remember when Costco used to legitimately carry the Hyper Lite XTT stand bags. That was sweet. Wish they would have continued that.

The Hex Diablo is a 2 piece ball. The Hex Control at Costco is a 3 piece ball with a Trionomer cover which I thought was new this year.

    A reply from Callaway

So I wrote them back and asked: "I know that this ball is made for Costco. Can you provide me with other details about the ball such as type of cover and what ball this most closely resembles in your current line?"

They gave me a generic reply: "Callaway’s HEX Control golf ball is a 3-piece ball designed for distance, feel, and control around the greens. This ball features HEX Aerodynamics for distance, and a soft trionomer cover for enhanced wedge spin."

Tried this ball yesterday. Had to tee it up a little lower, as the ball seems to have a higher flight. Good feel putting and around the greens. Pretty durable as well. Hit a tree fairly flush and there wasn't a noticable scuff marks. Not a bad ball for the price.

    Definitely the Hex Hot

The Callaway Hex Control at Costco is the new Hex Hot, Callaway needs to protect its retailers price and margin and thus decided to market this ball under a unique name for Costco. The specifications are identical for both balls. Last year Costco marketed the Titleist Tour Distance which was the Titleist NXT Tour under a different name for the same reason. Costco's buying power far exceeds even the largest golf retailer. This just shows you how much mark-up there is in golf equipment.

    Hex Hot Pro

My mistake, the Costco Hex Control is identical in all aspects to Hex Hot Pro ball. The specs are on-line at the Callaway golf global site, same cover, same mantle (Dupont), same core. This is a great deal vs. $26.99 a dozen at Golf Galaxy or Golf Smith.

What is the difference between the Hex Hot and the Hex Hot Pro? It is hard to tell from there web site.

    Thanks
