As I'm thinking about this, could the shorter drivers have lower swingweights? Effectively backweighting the club. Could the people finding success with shorter drivers also find that success with a 45-1/2" and a D0 or C9 swingweight?

Could be. I have gone back and forth with length, but I'm at D3 with my driver at 46" and it feels right. In the past I gained some accuracy being in the 44 to 44.5 inch range, but gave up a little distance, but with the XR, at 46 inches, I have gained yards and it is still very accurate.

I was going back on forth on this for my driver for Legacy. I cut my current driver down from 45.75" to 45.25" and consider to go shorter with my Legacy driver. After going back and forth on it, I decided to stick with the Bridgestone standard which is 45". It just made sense for me to not make such a drastic change. I think the 45" is going to work out for me.
