Morgan Cup 2014 Travel plans & accommodation thread

The rental company might be the way to go!!! hmmm

I talked to the guys at True Blue today. They are getting in Titleist for their rentals replacing their current TaylorMade bags. Also, I saw this in the parking lot, which could be another option:

This looks like the way to go.

Here's another place in Myrtle, just to give a little choice/competition: http://www.myrtlebeachgolfclubrentals.com/index.html

I think once we get the teams all set and all the details out, we figure out who wants to rent vs bring and see about getting a group rate from either place.

Here is the problem as I see it with club rental. You will have to adjust your swing to fit the clubs. They could be too flat or too upright. The wrong flex, provide a bad launch.

For those that have not seen the courses I would think bringing your own clubs that should be very close to the clubs you will receive on media day would be better.

This may not be an option for some but if you can bring your sticks, I would

I agree Freddie. If you can "swing" it I would bring your clubs for the practice rounds, esp. if you plan on playing 2 or more. I plan to just FedEx them back at some point before I leave, maybe both.

If I fly I will be FedEx one set back and carry the other on the plane.

ALMOST all of the major OEMs, my friend. Was hoping for some Bridgestone love to do exactly what you're suggesting, and was sadly disappointed.

Sorry, I didn't notice that Bridgestone was missing from the list. I guess that shoots a hole in that theory.

I get it.

For shipping your clubs either direction, take a look at these folks. I saw them on the Golf Channel.

I just got a quote from them to ship from Myrtle to home in Spokane Washington = $59.99 (one way trip)
FedEx wanted over $100.

I hope I need to use them !!

Great info! Just quoted me $49 for 3 day and they pick up. Boom!

Nice find,$49.99 for 2 day to Illinois.

That is definitely worth it so you can play practice rounds with your own clubs.

So sharing this valuable info to the rest of the MC contestants should improve my chances of getting selected. . . yes ?
Hey, a guy's gotta try ! :D

I think I'd still rent to save the money and time. Just me, but I don't think it will matter much what I play for practice rounds.

Your captain of Team THP! You don't need to have any worries my man!

I agree with that last statement as well. The set I get at the MC will be the first set I was fit for, so whether I'm using my current clubs or rental clubs, it probably won't make a whole lot of difference.

LOL there you go.

Is everyone planning on staying on site? Renting a beach house?

I think they are still working on that buddy. Right now they are saying hold tight on that.

Yep still got some loose ends to tie up in that regard

I think Mike is working on some frat like house that will sleep 50+ so that we can all stay together during the week!

Yikes, I hope it at least has 2 bathrooms.

Big time wants a toga party. Who wants to do keg stands?

I like that THP is working on something. Gonna be awesome, I'm sure.

Wether I come as a contestant or as a volunteer. I'll most likely be driving down and brining a set of sticks.

I'd like to come in Wednesday by either driving Tuesday night or leaving super early Wednesday and get some golf in Wednesday and Thursday and leaving out Monday. Hopefully I can make it a road trip with someone else making the trip.
