Looking at songs or artists?

The Damned Things

A little obscure but I guarantee you'll like it if you care for indy rock at all.

Neil Finn - "Try Whistling This" album from 1998.

Hayseed Dixie.

KMFDM and the lesser known MDFMK
Mike Ness is also good.

If you like hip hop check out Aesop Rock, Atmosphere and Sage Francis.

If you like metal, try Scar Symmetry - Morphogenesis, Wintersun - Death and the Healing, Opeth - Bleak, and Communic - Under a Luminous Sky. One song each to get ya started :D

You guys have some good ones in there. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is probably the best introductory punk band that's ever existed. I would also suggest, since I'm a punk rock kinda guy:

Swingin Utters
The Real McKenzies
No Use for a Name
NOFX
Ignite
AFI
Bad Religion
Descendents
Good Riddance
The Mad Caddies
Mustard Plug
Street Dogs
Strung Out
Teenage Bottle Rocket
Suburban Legends
Less than Jake

Those are some great punk and ska bands to check out. If you like harder rock, some lesser known, but awesome bands are:

Airbourne
Gypsyhawk
The Winery Dogs
Sister Sin
Rose Tattoo
Anthrax (not lesser known, but I love 'em)

If you like blues/soul, check out a band called Vintage Trouble. The singer is phenomenal, guitar is sick...really cool.

Pretty much anything by the Black Keys - especially if you can find some live recordings.

I have really been enjoying Fitz and the Tantrums lately really good music.

OK TEXAS PEOPLE (and I know there are a bunch of you)

Ever heard of Mo's? In Katy? MikeG?

Like Country? Go see an old buddy of mine play this weekend.
This guy was in the Air Force with me, when we were stationed in Texas (Wichita Falls, yuck).
He was an instructor on the other side of the hangar from me. He got out of active duty to pursue music.
