Looking at drones and it seems like the DJI Phantom 3 Standard may be the best out there currently for the price. Anybody have one with a camera? What are you flying and why. Let's please keep this to the drones and leave the legality and privicy talk out of it.

Here is a review of the Phantom 3 Standard. Retails for $699 at the moment.

Damn that thing looks pretty solid for the price point.

I've got nothing for this, but I bet Hashtag could have some good info.

All over that already. I believe he has the previous model, the Phantom 2.

It certainly is. I used to fly R/C Helicopters and I highly recommend this site for anything and everything to do with R/C Helis and Drones. It is an amazing group of very knowledgeable people. Think of it as the THP for R/C enthusiasts.

Thanks for the info. Yuneec seems to have a cool option that costs quite a bit more but has some cool features like a hand held gimbal.

What are you looking to do with your Drone?

Not even quite sure yet. Mess around on the range, follow the boat, have some cooler home movies, and maybe send it over the neighbors fence hehe.

The Phantom 3 should fit your needs to a "T" (see what I did there???).

Wait... That wasn't there when I left, and that carpet looks familiar. Did you make moves?!

It is here now.

Oh man... Please take that out with us next time we golf. I would love to see some of the footage on tee boxes from up in the air etc

Thats gonna be crazy

This is NUTS! How awesome is this!!!! Do we all get to fly it? LOL

Probably not, but you will be photographed by it if you would like.

Just charge people 800 bucks to fly it

Drone action at THP events. Can't wait to see how this, gets used and the awesomeness that can come with it

This could get really damn interesting.

Just FYI: http://money.cnn.com/2015/12/24/technology/drone-faa-laws-registration/

Also, if you are flying on public land, please make sure you contact the local municipality as they may have rules in effect now as to where and how high you can fly.

If on Private land, check with the land owner.

When I was flying R/C Helis, I only flew on a private field we leased or at parks that I knew I was okay with.

Also, you may want to join this organization: https://www.modelaircraft.org/joinnew.aspx?s=google

Being a member gives you loss insurance, but more importantly, health coverage in case you or someone else gets injured while you are flying/crashing. It can also cover property damage.

I expected this thread might get a few more comments this evening.

I really can't wait to see this in action at events.

Biggest question is gonna be what's the first event it makes an appearance?
