The Wilson Whale Driver
The “Whale” (not to be confused with the Killer Whale which is a metal wood) was produced from 1991-95. The head was made from laminated maple and retailed for $250 in graphite. THP is fortunate enough to have obtained a few things to help understand this club. The first are scanned images of the original catalog that showcased this “new” driver. These are pictured directly below and can be clicked on to blow up to full size. The second….The actual club in brand new condition that brought a grin to my face that only this driver could do. Pictures can be seen after the “jump” at the link below.

From the beautiful maple wood, to the design that Wilson put on this club, the Whale had it all. At the time it was an oversized club head and featured the Firestick graphite shaft that just seemed so far ahead of its time. In my opinion, this club took the Wilson brand (that was already a household name), and put even more drivers in the hands of golfers everywhere.
