When Odyssey unleashed the Tri-Hot 5K putters on the golf world in 2022, many were left wondering, “Where’s the beef?”. While I know our older generations will appreciate that pop-culture reference, for those of you who may not it is just a witty way of saying, where were the mallets?
The initial Tri-Hot 5K release centered around Odyssey showing off just what their version of the forward weighting concept could do to make a blade play like a mallet. It is upon that success and impressively positive feedback that 2023 sees the company bring the tech and design to two of their most popular mallet shapes ever, and some new neck variations of the Double and Triple-Wide’s.

2023 Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Putters
If you need a refresher on just what the ideology behind Tri-Hot 5K is, the name of the game is moving and placing weight to get the CG more forward which reduces the overall sidespin imparted on off-center putts to keep it on a better line, while also maintaining a higher MOI through materials and shaping. This blend means more forgiveness and better performance.

For 2023, Odyssey is adding the Seven and Rossie shapes to the Tri-Hot 5K lineup as well as new neck variations of the Double-Wide and Triple-Wide. For the latter, there is now a Center Shaft option (TW) and Double Bend (DW) which should make groups of golfers with those specific wants and needs extremely happy. The Seven will be offered in Double Bend, Slant, and Crank Hosel (Plumber’s Neck). Finally, the Rossie, which may be the perfect mallet headshape for the multi-material construction, will be offered in Double Bend and Slant neck only.

The material story this year is the same, with Odyssey blending front sections made from 303 Stainless Steel which are then married to 6061 Aircraft Grade Aluminum. The visual contrast between the two materials via finish and milling remains as striking as ever, and pictures of the Rossie in particular make that shape look more stunning than ever. Behind that front Stainless section is up to 120-grams of Tungsten depending on the model which behind the heel and toe help bring balance and consistency to the roll.

For those wondering, yes, the Tri-Hot 5K in the new shapes and necks do still utilize additional adjustable weights (5, 10, 15, and 20-gram) that can be purchased to fine tune the weighting even further. The heads also utilize the greatest putter insert of all-time, the White Hot, as well as Red Stroke Lab shaft.
The Details
These new shapes and necks will join the original Tri-Hot 5K models at retail on 2/3/23 and carry a premium $399.99 price point which certainly reflects the materials utilized.

Went to the putting green early this morning for about an hour of practice. I worked on not letting my putter flip and the end. I felt i had more consistent rolls even though i feel i have been putting well. I then got my mirror out and worked on my set up verifying i was standing where i wanted. Will practice again tomorrow before the weekend rounds!
Been rolling the WH OG 7 DB since I started golfing. Turns out due to my natural swing path, I need a putter with some toe hang. Since I was at PGASS yesterday looking for a new cart bag I thought I’d give the Tri-Hot 5K 7CH a try and boy oh boy did that putter feel awesome! I was dropping putts from everywhere. I know it can be somewhat misleading putting on indoor turf like that, but since Callaway is doing a $25 off the Tri-Hot models right now, it sure is tempting. I’ve been eyeing the Las Vegas models for a while, but man, that 7CH just felt so dang good!
My wallet and Mrs. Guru are not going to be happy with me! I just picked up a Paradym X a few weeks ago, looking at a new bag, now possibly a putter and oh yeah, Apex release just around the corner. 😳

Looks like Mini Hadi05 will be getting a Tri-Hot 5k Double Wide with a crank neck hosel. His swing path needs some toe hang and the alignment aid on the flange helped him a lot.

I’m going to have a 34″ 7 CH for sale in the next week 😉
@USAF Retired, oh man, if only I played a 34″!
I need a 35″ so ended up ordering direct from Callaway. I should have just bought the one on the floor at PGASS the other day. Seems like a relatively hot item; none in stock at any of the nearby shops and Cally just updated my order to say it’s 1-2 weeks out. 🙁
Edit: And I just got the updated email that it has shipped. Should have it before the weekend!
Putting practice session this aft working 6 feet and in. I was really focusing on a smoother putting stroke with a good follow through. I found today that the less i thought about the putt the more i was draining them from the shorter distances. Going to try and get 9 in tomorrow aft for some on course practice.
Didn’t get to play but got a practice session in. @BB Fan Girl and I were having a chip close and then putt out contest. I had no 3 putts and 4 one putts! That is some of the best practice I can do.
Mini Hadi05 will have his putter Monday!
The Tri-Hot 5k Rossie DB is still ? for me!
7 CH was delivered late yesterday. Rolled a few on the practice mat and it felt just as good as it did in the store. I’ve got two rounds scheduled this weekend which will provide me a good chance to put it through the paces.
Great maiden voyage yesterday. Rolled 36 putts where my average is usually in the mid to upper 40’s. Three, 3 putts, three 1 puts and the rest were 2 putts. Need to work on distance control, but this putter is very forgiving to be sure. Contemplating going back to a SuperStroke grip, but think I might keep rolling the stock one for a bit and see how it goes.
For those on the fence, go give these a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Triple wide continues to be a bright spot in my bag. One 3 putt from a looong way the last time out, but hitting my pace and line have both been pretty good recently. On some quick, bumpy, brand new to mean slope-y greens last week, I putted pretty well, gaining strokes against my handicap. Paired with the triple track ball, I can see that I am getting great roll off the club face. Leaving a lot of tap-ins is never going to get me upset.
The stock grip has been wearing quite a bit considering the amount of play I’ve had. I’ll have to snap a picture and post it next time I am able. But other than that, no big complaints.
Putting this weekend was good. Speed control and rolling the ball clean off of the face was good for me. I do feel that my putting has improved since getting the Rossie in the bag. While some did come up just short on some putts i have zero complaints how i rolled the ball.
Didn’t putt particularly well this weekend compared to how I normally do, but not terrible either. I did however receive several compliments on how well I roll the 7 DB. Comments on how smooth my stroke is and how clean the ball comes off the face; rolls quick, no bouncing. Continue to love this thing.
Absolutely loving the tri-hot one. Played about three full rounds (and a handful of par 3 exec rounds) with it so far and my putting has improved dramatically. Last three rounds were 30-34 putts vs. the 37-40 putts I was averaging prior to it. I think the two main things I’ve noticed with this putter are my distance control is miles better than it was prior to using it and I’m able to get the putt rolling on my line more consistently. Its a good feeling having some confidence back in my putting.
Come Grandaddy time… I’m going to be looking at double or triple wide style but keeping an open mind to see what the fitters think would help

Were the short putts on lag type putts or just normal 10-12 footers etc. ?
I had my best putting day in a long time yesterday. I really focused on a light grip, and letting my shoulders swing the putter back and through, and I was getting awesome end-over-end roll visible with the triple track. Pace on long putts was excellent, and I couldn’t miss (except one bad one) from inside 6 feet. Helped me win my opening round match of our flight for the club championship. I had a number of shots just short that were better to putt than chip, and I got up and down every time. The triple Wide was straight fire for me

More normal putts. The lags have been good as long as I don’t look up to try and watch the ball lol.
38 total putts today with the Rossie. while that seems really high I used the putter off the green 3 times and counted those also. I did have 1 birdie and lipped out another one. The greens were trash today as the punched them and sanded them last week. No complaints with the result today.
17 putts today for my 9 holes. I had 3-1 putts and 2-3 putts. Greens were really slow and i thought i hammered a few putts to get close and was way short. I did hit a birdie on hole 9 which was a great way to finish.

Oddball question: what is your grip style? Is it crosshanded or standard? I use a standard old man with the pointed index finger. Looking for a putter that will allow me more ooomph on slow/aerated greens without having to change my technique.

So i am using the Garsen Max Tour grip with the ridge the middle on the front. I put a thumb on each side of that. It helps keep my elbows in. I guess i would call that more standard if anything.
Not a bad day with the Rossie today I had 34 total putts and 4 of those I counted were from off of the green. I made birdie on hole 1 and 18. I had two other birdie putts that I was walking in and the missed by less than an inch lol.
Was at Club Champion this morning and saw this awesome display! So much coolness in there lol!

Another round, and another where I gained 1.66 strokes (against scratch) putting with the CS Triple Wide. Pace control was very good. I had one three putt, which was just me way under reading the degree of downhill I had, leaving a 40 footer about 8 feet short. The big thing for me has been seeing the triple track on the ball roll end over end consistently, especially on longer range putts. Even when I have to get some oomph behind the ball, it still rolls true.

that looks like a TON of fun!
Rolling putts for about an hour today. I spent the most time working about 6 feet and in trying to get a consistent feel and not push the ball. I also worked on some longer lags trying to get tight groups as close as possible. On the putt below i was laughing because i sunk all 3 yellow truvis and not one of the white cs. I was alternating the color of the ball on the putts so when all 3 of the yellow dropped i just shook my head and laughed. I do like the way the ball rolls off of the face of my Rossie. Getting it to roll smooth is very easy.

Not a bad weekend with the Rossie. 30 putts yesterday with 5 one putts and 33 putts today 3 one putts. Todays greens were just so pure it was crazy. I was walking in a birdie on 9 and it lipped out ?. I am rolling the ball smoothly off of the face. Just need to keep the practice up on the green reading and speed work.
Practice session this evening for about an hour and a half. @BB Fan Girl and i went and had a little competition, I only had 1 3 putt during the contest. I then spent a lot of time on uphill and downhill 3-6 feet. The main focus was trying not to over grip and have a smooth follow through. Fun evening on the putting green.
30 total putts today with five 1 putts on the back 9. I was chipping really well and leaving myself some nice looks to save par. I did make a birdie on the front 9 and left two other birdies just off the cup. I’m rolling the Rosie well right now and the last two rounds have been on some fast greens. I’m going to need a good putter next Sat for my match so will be hitting up the putting green a lot this week.
32 putts today with no birdies. I missed the two good opportunities I had. The greens were a bit bumpy and the speed seemed different on some versus others. I did make some nice longer putts anyone from off the green to save a par which was nice. Overall a solid day with the Rossie.
So, the triple center shaft intrigues me.

It looks awesome. If I wasn’t putting VERY well with my Cleveland center shaft, I’d be looking hard at that putter.
33 putts yesterday with a handful of 1 putts. I lipped a few out also. My lag putting was really good yesterday which was nice. Playing some really fast hard greens today. I would love to have 30 or less putts that would be exceptional.
31 putts with the Rossie today. 2 birdies and I hit the stick and it bounced out for another. Another good day of lag putting.

I continue to absolutely adore my Tri-Hot Three. It’s been a bit now but had a 3 day trip with some guys I haven’t played with in a while and received multiple compliments on how good my putting was the entire time. That’s purely a product of the putter.

Correct.
My Rossie was the only club in the bag that was good yesterday. it is just very easy to set up and roll the ball smoothly.
