Introducing the 2024 Bridgestone Tour B Golf Balls.
Any time Bridgestone Golf announces their newest version of their flagship Tour B golf ball, it is an exciting time to see just what they have up their sleeve. Some of the most impressive innovations in golf balls over the years have been part of the Tour B series as well as its predecessor B330 lineup.
Last time, it was all about REACTIV. This time, we see the next evolution of that, and then some.
2024 Bridgestone Tour B Golf Balls
Right out of the gates, the Tour B release will remain four different golf balls, with Bridgestone still using their speed classification system. The Tour B X and XS models are aimed at players who swing over 105 MPH, while the RX and RXS are for the under 105 MPH segment. Of course, the issue here remains the same in that this cannot be treated as gospel, since individual fitting can differ, which makes it interesting with as much emphasis as Bridgestone puts on fitting that they continue to use speed as the baseline.
A significant part of the story for the newest Tour B golf balls though is a familiar name, in fact, the most recognizable name in golf history, Tiger Woods. You see, Bridgestone is adamant that combining Tiger and his knowledge as well as feel with their over 900 polymer engineers has pushed their R&D like never before. This time, the Big Cat has specific impact on the Tour B X, which is the ball he has switched to for added distance after playing a version of the XS for over twenty years. Yes, you read that right.
Not only was he involved with the Tour X, but all the golf balls as well. If you recall, the key design feature last time around was the introduction of REACTIV. By introducing “impact modifiers” to the urethane, Bridgestone developed a cover that would react differently based upon the speed at which impact took place. When hit harder, it got firmer and thus faster off the face, but when impact took place at lower speeds with scoring clubs it became softer which increased spin as well as shot stopping capabilities.
That technology has not gone away, but it has evolved to be part of the “REACTIV X System” which consists of a REACTIV IQ “smart” cover and new mid-layer called XCLRNT. Besides being a whole lot of consonants, there is also a lot of science behind the names.
The base premise of the REACTIV IQ cover is the same this time, it reacts differently to how hard it is hit, allowing for more speed off the tee, and more spin off scoring clubs. Last time though, the same modifiers were used in all four golf balls, despite them being intended for different kinds of golfers. In 2024 that has changed so each ball has its own “smart cover” which uses modifiers to tune the way the cover reacts for each golf ball individually.
That isn’t all. Under the REACTIV IQ covers is a new XCLRNT mid-layer. Bridgestone describes this as the “backboard” for the cover. Essentially, in another advancement of their contact science, this layer creates more spin around the greens while being more efficient at the energy transfer/rebound off the tee. One interesting comment from Bridgestone about this is also that the new XCLRNT layer has “created a deeper sound at impact”.
As you can see, the next evolution of Bridgestone’s Tour B golf balls should certainly create some intrigue for golfers who have experience with the prior versions. Just how much change will there be? Keep an eye on the forum testing on the THP community which will be ongoing with every single ball in the lineup represented.
The Details
All four models in the 2024 Bridgestone Tour B golf ball lineup will be at retail everywhere starting on 2/16/24. As always, there will be Bridgestone fitting opportunities across the nation as well. The golf balls will be priced at $49.99 per dozen.

BX looks well balanced. Spin off driver is a bit high but that may have also helped carry.

It was good on the driver. But struggled on irons and I hate the feel of it on the irons and wedges.
Listed to the Off Course podcast episode with Bridgestone Golf today. A ton of good information on these balls. And after listening, I’m wondering if o should give the Tour B XS a try. Maybe the B X with the low spin driver I have this year. I’m also starting to float south of the 105 mph driver swing speed as I get older.

The B XS is such a good ball even for someone a bit below 105. But the B RXS has been money for me this year. It was my favourite of the lineup after testing all of them.
The episode was really informative as to what they are going for with each ball in the lineup.

What didn’t you like about the feel?
Puetz golf seems to have the 3 packs 2024 balls for $99 at least today.
I’m tempted. But being patient.

On the King Tours, it was really harsh and clicky. I prefer a soft feeling, especially on irons and putter. And the B X was noticeably harsher and clickier on irons than the rest of the lineup.

Shows how different we all are and what we’re used to. Compared to every other ball I typically play it feels and sounds softer by a lot through that part of the bag.

It is funny. I had it on the course earlier and didn’t feel it was that harsh. But hitting it next to the full lineup and some competitors, it really stood out.
The performance is there and I can see why it’s one of their most popular ones. But I couldn’t get over the harshness.
For me, it’s up there with ProV1X and the Z-Star XV in feeling the harshest and clickiest.

I have been playing mainly the RXS but will go with the XS from time to time. Love them both!! But as a 70 year old golfer I sure would love at least RXS in yellow. My playing partner can’t see the white balls at all and I certainly see the yellow tons better.

It’s in line with how Bridgestone does things. But I’d also like a yellow ball for the summer rounds, when leaves aren’t an issue.

I played the XS through several iterations and love it. I tried the BX after it was the #1 rec on a Ballnamic fitting. I was blown away. I didn’t think it sounded much firmer than the XS,
I like the spin from the ProV1x and most other X balls but didn’t particularly care for the harsher feel and sound. I didn’t find that harshness with the BX.
Glad you found a Tour B you like.

I can’t explain why it was so ? I may need to revisit the B X after the Morgan Cup to see if I still feel the same.
I need spin on driver and especially from the irons and wedges due to my delivery. So the B XS and RXS were what I was going for initially.
The B X was also a top recommendation for me in Ballnamic as well.
I’ve been bouncing around playing different golf balls all month. For today’s round, I went back to BX.
Every time I do this and go back to BX I’m reminded just how damn good the ball is overall. It just does everything well for me. And it cannot be beaten inside of 100 yards. Trust me I’ve tried.

I’ll be going back to it, as well. Top to bottom, it performs very well for me. As important to me as performance, it feels much softer off the putter than other “X” balls. I think if I was blindfolded and asked to putt the the BX and BXS, I’m not sure I could tell the difference.

Came into the thread, saw this comment, and basically said the exact same thing. I liked it all the way down to wedges though, I thought irons were fine but wedges and putter was not a fan. The feel/sound with these are weird. performance was fine though, but it just didn’t feel 100% “right” off the wedges and putter for me. The RX is fantastic throughout but the BX performs a little better off the tee for me.
I wish Bridgestone made a B X.5 lol

This is wild, since for me it was so different from the rest of the lineup. But as we know, it’s subjective.

I think it can feel a bit firm, but I got over it after a few rounds. I also find that the firmer feel helps me not swing as hard as I was prior to switching to these balls, feeling like I really had to compress my prior gamer.
Think I’m going to have to pick some more X up tomorrow.
Yep.
Definitely.

I’m loving the BX. I went back to my Aerojet from the Darkspeed LS the last few rounds, and the ball has performed so much better for me with the added spin and lift off the driver. I think the BX and LS were just too low spin for me as a combo. Not unplayable, but not as forgiving. But man is this ball exceptional. I’m playing to my personal best with it, and it’s been so fun.
I’ve actually put the X back into play recently for the first time in a long time, and frankly I forgot how solid it really is.
I think I let a lot of the other stuff frustrate me, the X, XS, and RX are such damn good golf balls, there’s no reason for them to be where they are currently when it comes to placement in the market. That’s why I’ve been frustrated I think.
The Tour B X is high on my list for balls to try for next season.
I haven’t paid attention does Bridgestone usually do any of the winter/spring ball deals like the buy 2 get 1 free? Trying to figure out if I need a sense of urgency to test these before a load up sale.

I think they just went on sale. It’s usually that and then another sale in the spring.
I’ve mostly stuck with the B X this year and have zero regrets. It does so many things well.
My club doesn’t have a bridgestone account….I liked the B-XS, pretty nice ball.
I’m loaded up on CTx—but i had a nice time playing the Bridgetones i got through THP. Very quality ball

Its performance really surprised me. It’s long, spins well off short irons and partial wedge shots and feels/sounds fantastic. I missed it in all the wind we had Sunday.

100% I didn’t love it on the monitor but I’ve been gaming it all year with the exception of a few short stints with TP5 and I always come running back to BX because it just works on course for me. Does everything I want and need it to do.

That’s fair. It’s good on monitor but there always one that can outshine it in a specific area. Most of them aren’t near as well rounded of a ball for me though and their flaws show up on course where this one shines.
Plus it feels fantastic.
Yesterday I picked up a dozen B X Tiger balls to start testing out over the winter. This spring when I have consistent numbers I’ll do a ballnomic to see what should be in the competition.
