Two plus years ago, Wilson launched the original Triad golf balls to some minor fanfare, but as time began to pass and more golfers got a chance to test, it brought a cult like following. Fast forward to today and the new 2025 Wilson Triad golf balls are here and based on forum feedback on the previous version, it will be to the excitement of many.

The 2025 Wilson Triad – Construction and Specs
Like the ball before it, the 2025 Wilson Triad has a tag line of the world’s most balanced golf ball. What does that mean? Wilson uses a Tri-Balanced Construction, which is a fancy of way of saying the manufacturing process ensures uniform density across all three layers (cover, mantle and core). This is done to deliver a perfect center of gravity and for us golfers, an absolutely pure roll.
Does it work? The easy answer is yes. We tested the previous model out both by looking at the internals as well as measuring to see if something was off balance. In our small sample size, no issues.

The 2025 Wilson Triad is a 80-compression golf ball, and while compression as a number by itself doesn’t mean as much as some golfers believe, the level of consistency from those upgrading from the previous generation to this one will be a nice touch. The fondness for the feel and sound of the ball will remain intact. The 2025 Wilson Triad did get a tad bit softer in total number, but the performance is not lost in the speed category.
The soft three-piece urethane ball provides performance benefits to help golfers find more fairways, attack more pins, and sink more putts. The re-designed Tri-Balanced Construction makes it more consistent than its predecessor.
Frank Simonutti, Global Director of Golf Ball Innovation at Wilson Golf
The ball being a bit softer, brings lower spin off the driver, while still giving ample stopping power with approach and around the greens. Complimenting the core and mantle layer is a thin, cast urethane cover that offers that green side grab you are looking for.
Speaking of that core, both of the internal layers have been redesigned for the 2025 Wilson Triad. By making the ball it bit softer, thus reducing some of the long game spin, distance is not cut short, and in fact might be even longer for you.
The Wilson 2025 Triad – Testing
This wasn’t the case of taking a really good product, tweaking something minor, and calling it an evolution. They tested. And tested more. Wilson’s goal to be the longest off the tee for amateurs while still maintaining, soft feel and control through spin around the greens is exhaustive.

Internally, they tested the 2025 Wilson Triad against leading competitors and found at 105 mph swing speed with the driver, it was the longest in golf. They don’t hide the fine print or numbers. Similarly, they had the same success with having the highest average spin rate with scoring irons and sand wedge shots. While they didn’t provide us with those golf balls tested against, it’s worth noting that they are supremely confident that the ball will provide similar results for golfers of all skill levels.
The original Triad surprised us with its performance. The new model appears to improve on that and we will have a lot of testing coming up. Stay tuned to the THP Forum for your chance to be a part of a golf ball testing and review the new 2025 Wilson Triad.

Another ball I need to try…..(if this snow ever melts)
Did you balance those balls? impressive!
Sounds like a nice ball. The previous release attempts with their premium ball (No Paint) made me cautious to dive in. Like the Urethane cover for certain.
Wow there are a lot of nice details in this ball…urethane cover and the attention to detail in the manufacturing process is pretty cool. Should be quite the competitor at $39.99 if people actually give it a fair shot
I don’t recall that I’ve played a Wilson golf ball before, at least in the past 10+ years, but this may be the season that changes. I couldn’t tell you why I haven’t included Wilson golf balls in my searches so I probably ought to rectify that this year. Ideal swing speed shows to be very close to my own, so I’m very curious how the Triad will test out against what I’ve been playing.
OG triad was actually surprising for me. It played much better than I expected.
I liked the Triad when I tested it. Similar performance to the Q-Star Tour, maybe a bit firmer and a touch more green side spin. I will have to say, their original claims of being a “straighter’ ball flight were unsubstantiated for me though. 😥

Yeah it was surprisingly good. And it sounds like they made some improvements so this one should be too.

Hopefully Wilson doesn’t spell their own product wrong in adds this time..
It’s interesting that there was no mention of the Manolo guy in the press release. I guess the bloom is of the rose on that one.
Prior Triad was an underrated ball. I didn’t love it, but it was good. I do love the Staff Model. Wonder if this Triad may bridge that difference a little.
Does anyone know how it’s green side spin compare to other urethane golf balls?
Like @WICHITAREJECT says once the snow melts I will have to try these (along with the new Callaway ERC).
It’s interesting that they talk about the testing but didn’t mention what balls they tested against.
Is this supposed to compete against the premium lines like the Pro V and Callaways Chrome Tour, or is it going against that next tier urethane like Q-Star?
Wow. I’m glad I read that, because I went from almost no interest to feeling like I have to try them out. The design is pretty much exactly what I love in a golf ball.
I have always really enjoyed the tech story with this one. I can’t wait to see who gets to test these out!
Still made by Foremost?

One can only hope…
I honestly never tried the Triad, that’s a pretty saturated category and for me, the Maxfli Tour balls or the QST all meet my needs really well there. That said, I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to trying out the updated version.

Kind of wild how that worked for me too
This article shows the power of THP. Has I seen these in store or a IG post I might not have given it another thought. Now after reading this article it’s a ball I need to give a try. If it preforms as well as testing says it does and at a nice price point what’s not to like.
Oh no, another ball to try, my golf ball storage is limited, but will have to give these a try.
And, as always, another great THP article. Thanks!
Great article and the price point is really good.
Shortly after the original Wilson Triad golf ball came out I won a dozen at a golf outing.
Their description sounded a lot like the ball I was playing at that time.
For my game I found that the ball spun too much for me from tee to green.
I gave the remaining balls to a friend that was looking for more spin and he loved them.
$40 for a Wilson ball?
I guess I’m out of the loop, because I always thought that Wilson was a brand that you saw on the shelf at Walmart and sold for $25.
I’m not saying that this ball is not good – it probably is!
I’m just pointing out how out of touch I have been when it comes to the Wilson brand, which I always saw as a budget brand.
I guess I was wrong?

The amount of spin in these have me interested.

It should drop a tiny amount as noted in the article, but greenside you won’t see much of any performance issues.
I think people are going to like the new Triad.
I’ve never had the opportunity to try Wilson balls, unless I found one. I believe @JohnSinVA used to like them

Used to play the ‘23s. Solid ball, usually stayed in play when I expected it to be in the trees.
Lots of spin off the irons for me though. Don’t really need that so I moved on from it.
I still don’t like the name, but I really think they were a pretty fun golf ball last time around. I will definitely be giving them a go this spring.
The first version was my favorite ball of all time to putt with. Ball seemed to track like it had a GPS to the hole. Glad the price is still reasonable.
My swing speed is closer to 100 vs 105 but these sound like they could work well for me. Will have to try these.
Never saw or played a Triad in 2024. This is reason enough to want to try them.
From the article
” Internally, they tested the 2025 Wilson Triad against leading competitors and found at 105 mph swing speed with the driver, it was the longest in golf. “
I tried those balls a year or so ago. I thought they were a pretty good ball, and were on par with the e6s I was playing. As I recall there was about a $15 price difference between the two.
I just don’t see them on the shelves where I shop for golf balls. (Walmart)

So at 105 mph Swing Speed, that puts a Drive about 275-285 yards.
Is that golfer going to use a Wilson Triad Golf Ball?
I played the Wilson Staff Model last year and was very happy with them. I’ll likely pick up a box of the Triad and give them an shot.
Thanks!

I bit of a branding challenge they’ve had. The Wilson Triad and Wilson Staff balls are urethane golf balls designed to go up against anything out there.
I played the previous Triad for awhile after getting fit from Ballnamic. It was a great all around ball. One of those balls that did everything very well – didn’t blow you away in any one category – but was very good at everything.
I played it a lot in the league. As errrobody plays Titleist or Callaway, it was really easy to know which ball was mine. lol. I even picked up a few dozen when the PGA Tour SS closed them out at the end of the year.
When that supply dwindles, I’ll give the new ones a try. (Though I have so many boxes of balls in the closet already, I really need to ease up.)
I haven’t played a Wilson ball since they discontinued the Professional series. It will be interesting to see how the Triad works with my “moderate” swing speed.

One of the reasons I play the Maxfli Tour balls. It is so easy to differentiate my ball from all the other ProV’s in play. Plus the Maxfli yellow is distinguishable from the ProV yellow.
I relate to balls by the Callaway scale lol. Is the Triad more like Chrome soft or ERC Soft?
I really liked the last generation Triad. It was my go to ball before switching to the Staff Model. Wilson golf balls are underrated in my opinion.
I like what I’m reading. Sounds like another Wilson ball I should try.
I’ll have to try this one
I use to love the FG Tour ball had some leftover and finally lost em all. Went to the Triad and I really like it and hope to continue to like it. Always liked Wilson balls and easy on the pocket
Some of this chatter about increased iron spin has me really intrigued. Given my first clubs were Wilson, I always have an eye on getting their gear in my bag. I will have to try them out once this silly snow melts.

Agreed. I haven’t been in the market for irons in awhile, but when that day comes Wilson will get a crack at being the set for sure.
Have you played this ball yet? Sounds like you played the prior. What really stood out for you?
