Could the Bag Boy Revolver XP be the best cart bag on the market?
Recently we sent out the Bag Boy Revolver XP golf bag for review to multiple forum members and their early thoughts and pictures are starting to come in. Each week new reviews are posted as testers get a chance to try out the new Revolver and put it to the test.
Their goals are simple, put this cart bag through its paces and see how it fares. Covering the gamut from ease of use to durability and everything in between. Regular golfers, trying out the products you have questions on and doing so for long periods of time.
Click here to see their reviews so far and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Plus, follow along in the thread for updates as they continue to come week after week.
For more information on the Bag Boy Revolver XP, check out their website at www.bagboy.com.
Oh nice, now you have to rock the B21 or Rad to get your navy on!
Have my annual MRI today, but will get it back out on the course tomorrow!

My favorite feature continues to be the revolving top which still surprises me. I really thought it was gimmicky…but it is super functional!
A lot of the clip lok slots are loosening up and it is easier to use now, so that’s good, but there are still a few stubborn ones.
The seam issue at the bottom of the bag is getting worse as I mentioned before. There is a plastic structure under the bag material and it is sliding down. You can see it if you zoom in on the picture.

Aside from that qc issue, this is a super solid bag and when you get used to the clip-lok and grip – lok working together, it is really fun.
I’ll get some pictures of the grips next week to see if there is any excessive wear from the grip-lok.
Overall, initially, it is very promising.
Apologies to those who are living vicariously through these reviews…day 19 was one of those roll out of bed, work until bedtime, and climb back into bed kind of days. Man, I’m ready for the weekend!
I promised something unique about pocket #3 and here it is…it has it’s own I GOTCHA ball retriever sleeve! Combined with the extra slot up top, that allows you to bring a ball retriever AND your training aid with you at the same time.

Well, obviously I needed to test this out with my 20-year-old ball retriever – it looked like it might actually fit. Sure enough…it’s an I GOTCHA brand ball retriever!!! No Way!!! I could not have told you that in a million years (although for you ball retriever aficionados, you already know that it’s an amazing retriever).

Anyway, enjoy the picture of an I GOTCHA ball retriever in the I GOTCHA ball sleeve. I’ve been wondering how I got selected to test this bag out. Now I know. It was fate.

I need to get one of those for my bag
It’s the ultimate accessory!
I’m usually hit or miss on ball retrievers, but in a cart bag with a dedicated space and plenty of pockets, why not?
And the best part is it’s hidden inside the bag so your not looking like " One of those guys! " ??
I got paired with a guy once who had a ball retriever with its own cover on it. Like…an iron cover type thing that was made for the ball retriever ????
Ball retriever sleeve in a pocket? "That doesn’t make any sense," my 5-year-old casually mentioned. "First, why would you hit it in the water when you’re trying to hit it in the hole? And even if you did, why wouldn’t you just jump in and grab it?" Fair points…although the pocket might now need to be used for spare towels and clothes…
Clearly, she ain’t got no time for that. Instead, it’s a perfect holder for one of her plastic clubs (maybe if she doesn’t want to get her real clubs scuffed up on a desert course?).

And of course, a golf round is no fun unless you cart the whole family around. This pocket holds 4 baby dolls along with the club, so you’ll be all set for a tea party – perfect for when you’re waiting on the #8 tee at Haig Point while @phoffer and I spend 20 minutes trying to find land.

I would carry that before a ball retriever, just saying. ???
Taking a quick pocket break to review the rain cover. I’ve had a wide range of rain covers in my various bags and found that I care about two things… it fits tight and has plenty of clearance around the driver. Sure enough, this has both! 4 buttons on the bag secure the cover, so the fit is secure. Meanwhile, it is the tallest cover I’ve ever owned and would likely fit Bryson’s 48 inch driver with no problem.

I had a little difficulty figuring out which way it goes on. The zipper goes the full way around so either way could make sense. There’s an extra piece of fabric on the one side, but I can’t quite figure out which side it’s designed for. Either way, the clubs should stay dry.
View attachment 8996674
Well, every club except for the putter! Remember, there are 14 slots up top, so leave the extra desert club at home if you think it’s going to rain!

Bag Boy, Ping, and Bennington always provide quality rain covers, in my experience.
Those clips will get better, and you’ll get better and putting the clubs in, I know I have.
Push carts.
Way back some time ago, I can’t recall when or where, the comment was made this was useless on a pushcart, but in my experience, it THRIVES on a push cart. Not only do you gain access to all the pockets, but on a Clicgear specifically it sits up perfectly clear of the wheel giving full clearance and total mobility. Not to mention, it rotates just fine.
Some pics for those curious, and yes I’m short a couple clubs, but I lent them to a HS kiddo for their tournament this weekend.

Thanks! Was debating which color to get and settled on the brown.
I need to go back so I can get one haha.
Any excuse to get there lol!
I think @PackersGirl and I need to do a day trip back there later this year
Yes!!! My favorite course!!!
Now that I have one, I am working on how to set it up with the two drivers. Im thinking metal woods in the middle, but what are your thoughts?
Curious to see what James thinks as well.
This is the best setup I could come up with
What do you think?
View attachment 8996763
There are so many ways to do this, but this makes the most sense in my head.
I would actually stagger the drivers at the ends of the top section if I had two I think, then put either wedges in the top middle three spots or fairways/hybrids.
The beauty of it is still that by putting the big heads in a locking slot you can keep them pointed clear of each other, as long as they’re not in slots that are side by side.
I just don’t think I’d put them in the non locking middle two slots.
Yeah that makes good sense. I know it sounds cheesy, but I’m kind of enamored with the spin function when on the back of a cart.
Im sure it’s via protected IP, but I can’t really think of a negative to it. Otherwise there is no doubt everybody would offer a bag like this.
It’s way more useful on the course than I thought it would be. In the studio I thought it cool but something I’d never use on the cart or push cart, but that was dead wrong. Beyond just using it, it’s great when you’re super upset to just grab it and spin, sure fire way to smile and ease the tension
If you follow Club Pro Guy it looks like your are golfing with Margo Perry (Stan Perry’s granddaughter). Packing a plastic club in his bag cost him the Thursday Night Men’s League Championship for 2020 [emoji23][emoji23].
The clips have loosened and I’ve gotten better and putting the clubs in.
Storage is bottomless it feels like.
Im a fan of the all black look that I have.
It rides excellent on carts, and push carts as I showed and hopefully put that discussion to bed…
All around, if you’re a cart bag guy I don’t know how the top and design Wouldn’t enamor you into taking a closer look at least.
As a cart guy, the top and the external putter scabbard are the selling points. I’m also one of those that hate hearing my clubs banging together, so the clip lock system is another plus,
So, it may or may not be my comment on the push cart that you were talking about. I think mine sits on more of a slant, but it’s probably because my cart is an off brand. I really like how upright it sits on your cart.
Also, I am one who thought the "spinny top" was a gimmick. It absolutely is not. It allows you to access any club from anywhere. Not sure how or if I will ever go back to a standard bag ?
I’m TRYING to find flaws in the bag. It’s tough…
@Davidhibler, I’ve loved your review. I had one of these bags for a short time earlier this year but sold it due to 2 issues. Your review has made me think I was too hasty in my judgment. The 2 issues were (1) the clip locks in the top did not loosen up for me and it was a struggle I wasn’t prepared to fight, and (2) the upper carry handle seemed to interfere with the top front pocket just enough for me to take note of it (my fat fingers would rub against the handle when zipping & unzipping the pocket). I really liked the rotating top and external putter scabbard, but as I mentioned when replying to Jman, I hate clubs banging together. That’s one of the key reasons for having the bag and the clip locks never loosening ruined it for me. I guess buyers’ remorse made me move a bit too quickly.
No worries though. I have a bag coming in that solves my main concern. If you don’t mind, I’m thinking of borrowing your style and posting a review thread on it similar to what you’ve done. I’ve really looked forward to and enjoyed your daily review posts.
Honestly, my wife wants a push cart. Have been thinking about giving her mine and grabbing maybe a BB nitro. That top lok would be an awesome feature to take advantage of!
Thanks for the kind words!
@Turtlerancher, I do not currently have the shotscope tags on my clubs, but i would say it depends on your grips. I don’t use them on lamkin grips or any grips with a rounded cap. The tags don’t hang over the side on midsize golf pride grips, and I am still monitoring grip wear (more to come in the next couple of weeks) . At this point I can’t recommend using them with this bag.
Haha, I honestly don’t remember who made the comment, I just remember I forgot to take a pick abs get it up when the conversation was taking place. Better late than never
It does sit exceptionally well on the Clic, and that’s without the staff bag attachment they make to help some other bags sit taller.
I’m the same with the top. I rolled my eyes, until at the THP Club Lab JB spun it and I let out a “holy **** let me try that”
Feeling the same as so many on here – the rotating gimmick is only a gimmick until you see it! Interesting thoughts on the bag setup…with two drivers, it definitely makes sense to lock them in. With one driver, I’m still thinking the non-lock slot may make some sense. Easy access to the club you hit the most with no need to lock it in since it should be taller than every other club. The weather finally turns this week, so looking forward to getting it out on the course and seeing how it works in action!
The toplok tech is great! I have the bb triswivel 2 and use the bb chiller bag. I never even fool with using the bottom strap to lock in the bag because the toplok cradles it so well. Ive never had any issues with it at all! I have a couple other bags but dont really like to use them on the tri swivel because they dont have toplok. The more I read this thread the more you guys are making me want a revolver!
Back to the pocket reviews – if you’re asking yourself why the pocket reviews are still going…it’s because there are so many of them! I’m flipping over to the other side (umbrella side) and am going to label the big pocket as #4. Nearly identical to #3 on the opposite side, the only differences are the umbrella that sticks through it and no ball retriever sleeve. I apparently took too many pictures of the other side, but since they’re essentially the same, you can see below that the big pockets fit two size 14W shoes with no issues. Great for someone who likes to have a lower profile when they putt (put the no spike shoes in the bag and change them every hole…you’ll still play faster than half the pros!).
View attachment 8997113
Also great for those that try that miracle shot next to the swamp and fall in. Either way, lots more room here!
The umbrella really doesn’t get in the way, but just a reminder that a wet umbrella could make some things a little wet inside.

Post up picks! Curious to see what that combo looks like
You’re going to be impressed by the Revolver top. Just remember, the clips will loosen (in a good way) over time.
We’re halfway to 50!
For those following along, you know that my 5-year-old daughter has been helping review the bag to figure out what all she can pack along on our next trip to the driving range. Well, last time we were there, she heard me yell, "YEAH LET THE BIG DOG EAT!!!" after a beautiful drive and then explained to her that hitting the 200 sign with your drive is ok because these are range balls and it would have gone at least 450 if it was a Pro V1.
So of course, she wanted to see how many "Big Dogs" she could fit. Bingo, Barley, and Rosie were up for the challenge, and had no problem fitting in one of the two large pockets on the Bag Boy Revolver XP Cart Bag.

Ooooh. I like that color!
I’m taking mine out on a special trip to North Carolina tomorrow.
You know, for science.
One must test their hypothesis [emoji6]
Made it out to the range today and the bag came through (the swing not so much!). Provided excellent access when switching clubs and the small pockets were convenient for storing my wallet, watch, etc. I noticed 2 things today:
1) Access to the bottom of the small pockets is easy, which will make my wife EXTREMELY happy since I tend to lose my ring in the bottom corners of golf bag pockets from time to time.
2) I really need to reevaluate my setup. The two drivers in the middle is crowded and just not going to cut it. More to come on this…
