Over the last couple of years, zero-torque putters have gone from niche curiosity to one of the hottest things in golf equipment. Bettinardi joined the party with the Antidote SB2, bringing its own interpretation of the concept to golfers looking for maximum stability throughout the putting stroke.
Earlier this year, Bettinardi expanded the lineup with the Antidote Hexperimental #7 and #9, giving golfers a more traditional look while retaining its version of zero torque, called “Simply Balanced.”
While the response was positive, one piece of feedback kept surfacing: not everyone wants to play a zero-torque putter, and they certainly aren’t the right fit for every golfer.
A Traditional Take on Antidote
Today, Bettinardi is addressing that with the introduction of the Antidote Hexperimental #2, a limited-production mallet that delivers much of the forgiveness and stability golfers appreciated in the original Antidote platform while returning to a more traditional heel-shafted design.
The Hexperimental #2 keeps the high-MOI philosophy intact, but is engineered for golfers with a slight to moderate arc in their putting stroke. Instead of the Simply Balanced (zero-torque) setup found in the SB2, this model embraces a familiar amount of toe hang while maintaining the confidence-inspiring footprint that has become synonymous with the Antidote name.
According to Bettinardi President Sam Bettinardi, the concept came directly from feedback received through the company’s Tour Department.
“We’ve had a wide range of players in our Tour Department, from pros to elite amateurs, fall in love with the Antidote SB2, but zero-torque isn’t for everyone. That’s exactly the gap the Hexperimental #2 was designed to fill.”
Premium Construction and Limited Design
Visually, the Hexperimental #2 certainly looks the part of a limited release. Bettinardi has paired a stealthy Black Armor TPT finish with distressed blue accents and a navy anodized center insert that immediately separates it from the rest of the company’s lineup. Long, ball-width alignment lines stretch through the center section of the putter, creating strong framing and aim assistance.
Construction remains unmistakably Bettinardi. Every Hexperimental #2 is precision milled in-house from a three-piece design consisting of a 303 Stainless Steel face, 6061 Aluminum body and aluminum center insert. The company also incorporates its updated F.I.T. Face (Feel Impact Technology) milling pattern, which removes approximately 30 percent of the face material to produce a softer, more responsive feel while maintaining consistent roll across the face.
Like previous Hexperimental releases, exclusivity is part of the appeal. Bettinardi outfits the putter with a matte black shaft, Black Hex PU grip available in either standard or jumbo sizing and a matching Hexperimental Antidote magnetic headcover that completes the package.
The Hexperimental line has become a place where Bettinardi can test ideas outside of its traditional product lineup while giving enthusiasts access to some truly unique builds.

Our Take
One of the more interesting trends in putting over the last year has been the realization that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Zero-torque designs continue to gain momentum, but there are still plenty of golfers who simply prefer the release and feel of a traditional heel-shafted putter.
The Antidote Hexperimental #2 retains the stability and forgiveness that made the original Antidote platform compelling, while at the same time giving players a look and toe flow that will feel familiar. Add in Bettinardi’s signature milling quality and one of the most unique limited-edition finishes we’ve seen this year, and it should find fans in those who really value a one-of-a-kind piece.
