Nostalgia plays well in the golf world, and we see it across many companies, whether it’s continuing a legacy or bringing back a popular product name from yesteryear. For golfers who have played Bridgestone golf balls in the past, the most common nostalgic release has been the e6. E6 represents the longest-running golf ball model for the brand and has historically been the biggest seller. Regardless of whether it’s still the ball of choice when walking down that golf ball aisle, that orange box always sticks out and jogs the memory bank. Carrying on an 18-year legacy, Bridgestone is ushering in a new version of the e6, known as e6 SOFT.
Bridgestone Golf e6 SOFT

Bridgestone positions the new e6 SOFT as a value-based golf ball designed to deliver speed, distance, and that soft feel that many golfers desire. If you’ve already read up on the new e12 golf balls, the key takeaway is that Bridgestone is trying to assist golfers in achieving more consistent launch profiles. For the e6 SOFT, a large, fast core with gradational compression partners with a soft, seamless Surlyn cover to deliver high launch and low spin off the tee. According to Bridgestone, the compression of this core comes in around 43, but keep in mind that there is no industry standard regarding how compression is measured. On the greens, this combination produces a soft feel and offers a thick black alignment line to help golfers line up their putts.

“The e6 has been an incredible product for Bridgestone Golf,” said Elliot Mellow, Golf Ball Marketing Manager, Bridgestone Golf. “It is the biggest seller in the history of the company and has enjoyed a loyal following for nearly 20 years. The heritage of the e6 line has really been a foundational product for us that has been enjoyed by millions of golfers, and the new e6 SOFT continues this history by delivering long distance and a soft feel.”
There have been thousands of conversations discussed on the THP forum, many of which have included discussions on how sound equates to feel. That topic has come up whether talking drivers, irons, wedges, and even golf balls. Sound significantly influences how something feels. Understanding this, Bridgestone collaborated with technicians from Pioneer Electronics to ensure that the new e6, labeled e6 Soft, also produced an appropriate sound. The result is a two-piece ball that delivers plenty of feedback but carries that comforting sound and feel.
The Details
Priced at $23.99, Bridgestone’s new e6 Soft will hit retail stores on February 14th. Two color options will be white and optic yellow, which match the yellow finish more closely to that found in the Tour B series.

Great write up @ddec! This will be a great Valentine’s Day present for some THPers!
It’s nice to see the yellow in a gloss finish. Looks like competition for supersoft.
I like the price. Too many of these low-tier balls are priced like they aren’t what they are.
I appreciate the move of flight technology into the e12 space, but I still resent what has been done to the e6 in many ways.
The e6 was my jam for many many years. Like 15 years. It’s great to see a new release and standard colors. They aren’t messing with success much here. This will definitely be up on the charts as a market leader for sales.

I agree with pretty much everything you said here. Price is good, actually lowered it from the previous model.
and yes the e6 forever seems like the casualty of time. As it was once the centerpiece of their ball fittings and now it’s just out there flying solo with a different story altogether.
Love this! I was a big e6 fan for a long time and will absolutely give these a go this coming season, specifically the yellow.
Good Ball. Senior golfer with slow swing speed. Works … some in my bag …
Good Golfing

e6 is my all time favorite ball, not afraid to say it. Tried and true, it just works so well for me.

No ball is that good…
Great write up and This is a great golf ball at a great price
Loved the old e6 balls back before they started playing around with it. If it was true to the old version I would likely still be using it.
Thanks for the great info @ddec ! Always grateful!
Like others, this one is pretty nostalgic for me. I played the e6 for a lot of years (have a dozen in my bag right now that I’ve been using on these cold days). Love to see that they are putting a bit back into a golf ball that has shown some longevity in their line.
