The winds of change continue once again, Bridgestone Golf is coming in with yet another collaboration effort, this time with the car culture fashion brand, Period Correct. Admittedly, it is exciting to see Bridgestone coming out of the phase of “we do what we do, because it is what we do” and instead embracing new and unique avenues, be it limited golf ball designs or collabs with other companies.
Who is Period Correct?
Hot off the heels of their work with Eastside Golf, this time around Bridgestone has teamed up with Period Correct. For those who may not know, this is a brand which is built around motorsport and car culture. The idea is that Period Correct “Redefines a culture lost through time, powered by the future of speed and modern design.” This is a throwback to the era of timeless aesthetics and craftsmanship in motorsport, with the goal of blending that mentality into modern apparel. They claim to be in their “own lane”, and they certainly aren’t exaggerating there.
Period Correct x Bridgestone Golf
While your initial reaction might be one of asking how this collaboration makes sense, I would urge you to step back and think about it. What goes more hand in hand with the auto industry than Bridgestone, a leader in the automotive industry for almost 100 years? Not much. So, Bridgestone Golf is seeking to connect the parent brands histories in a new way, according to President of Bridgestone Golf, Dan Murphy:
“We want to find impactful and authentic ways to introduce Bridgestone to that new generation of players. This collaboration uniquely leverages our car and golf cultures to meet new audiences through a shared passion.”
With that in mind, this collaboration was born, and as a whole this collection blends the Bridgestone’s classic advertising brands with car and golf culture through various apparel as well as golf balls. From hats to t-shirts, sweatshirts, and even the essential quarter-zip, each piece is part of what they are calling the “DRIVE Capsule”.
Though the articles within the collection feature the logo of each brand with a throwback feeling to them, rest assured the materials are as modern as they get. Speaking of modern, yes, the Bridgestone TOUR B X will be offered with the Period Correct logo as well.
All of the products in this collaboration will be a one time offering, and when they are gone, they are gone. More information as well as the ability to purchase the DRIVE capsule pieces can be found at BridgestoneGolf.com
It’s good to see some changes. Change can be really fun. They need to change that j-spec only 241CB to the stateside
Never heard of period correct. Interesting.
While I really don’t expect many here to know much about Period Correct and who they are, I do still believe seeing Bridgestone doing ANY of these collaborations is a step in the right direction for them.

I agree 100%. Bring their profile to more people.
Interesting. I don’t know how I really feel about collaborations to be honest. I think you gotta be behind the smaller brand to really get excited for them.

The thing many lose sight of with them though is they are super limited, so quantities are low, and it makes it more potentially beneficial for both parties.
None of the stuff calls out to me, but the pricing is solid. The glove locker intrigues me, but doubt I pull the trigger on it.
I get it, but I don’t get (if that makes sense).

Makes perfect sense.
I’m all for them doing collabs, but I’d like them to be with a bit broader realm encompassing partner.

The prices really are shockingly palatable.
It just seems like a lot of effort for not much payoff. I think I get what they are doing with the last couple, and I think it’s a good direction, but these are just blips. They need to aim bigger imo.

IMO, it’s been a while since they as a whole have had bigger aim hahaha
And that’s a whole other ball of wax as after putting the X back in play my last golf trip, they’re still just so damn good….but there’s no message or direction.
Boutique collaboration and not completely mainstream is my takeaway.
Kinda dig it.
Had to look up Period Correct and they have a collaboration with Malbon as well so this is tying things together.
I’ve never heard of Period Correct so lump me in with the crowd that “doesn’t get it”. I just think Bridgestone is in a weird place currently and is searching for something.

Im the opposite. While I didn’t know Period Correct, I think they are in a pretty solid place. Doing these small collabs is a great way to share the name and brand to an audience that probably is only about halfway aware.

Plus, if it stays in these price points, it’s kind of a no lose situation.

Honest question do you think the people who do know Period Correct care about golf?

I don’t know. But I would venture a guess that some do.

If they’re in high end classic automotive staff, they have money, and that’s still golf’s main audience whether we like it or not.
JMO.
It puts more eyes on a great brand, and that’s a win.

You’re probably not wrong there. Admittedly I’m out out the loop on the high end fashion so this is odd to me but for some they will probably love it.
If it gets more people looking and trying, I think it’s a good thing.

I don’t really think they’re in the high end fashion realm, at least not with the prices they’ve put on this collection. Plus, when I was researching for the article I was a little surprised at their price points, not cheap by any means, but not the level of insanity some of these companies come to the table with.

This is where I’m at. Feels like a Erik Anders Lang RGC crowd push.
Ok. ?
That’s my thoughts.

Agree with this. No clue who they are but I’m glad this collab is a thing because maybe it opens the doors to stuff I will be interested in.

Hahaha!!!!
Guys this thread is getting pretty political even with the code of sorts.
Lets get it off the forum please. Thank you.
Period Correct is essentially a lifestyle brand that does a lot of collaborations with other brands and is somewhat heavy in the Porsche scene. I have seen some of their stuff at meet ups like cars and coffee type things, and bigger shows. They are not Porsche specific, but that’s where I have seen it, specifically the Carrera shirts.
It’s a strange collaboration to me, but I don’t hate it. And the balls are cheaper than the recent releases which is a good thing.
I am now aware of Period Correct! Must be somewhat of a success for both parties. I wonder what the golf demographic is for the brand and if it brings a benefit to Bridgestone or mostly just the Period Correct brand. The name, however, makes me think of my elementary school English lessons on grammar and punctuation.
The prices are really good. The collab ball being significantly cheaper than a standard B X is a bit surprising.
I can’t say I had ever heard of Period Correct before, but a lifestyle automotive brand makes perfect sense to me for a collaboration for a golf company that is in a way itself a lifestyle offshoot of an automotive brand.
I’m glad they are branching out, but their choices have been very niche and (I assume) very small market. Seems odd. Is it a money thing – cheaper to license – or get paid to use them even?
Period Correct sounds like a like of feminine hygiene products. ????
I do like that Bridgestone is stepping out to do some collabs on their golf balls but I knew nothing about Period Correct prior to reading the article. This would be on my purchase list but like I said I do like that they are doing some of these now.
