Bridgestone Golf has a new driver coming out in 2016 and it was already getting some tour love as Brandt Snedeker put it in play this past week and had a tremendous showing. The JGR will join the J715 and the J815 in the Bridgestone driver lineup and separates itself in a number of ways.
The increased distance and forgiveness that the JGR Driver provides is achieved through 3 proprietary technologies:
F.A.S.T Crown
The Flex Action Speed Technology (F.A.S.T.) crown is extremely thin near the clubface and progressively thickens towards the club head rear to enable the crown to slightly flex at impact creating higher launch and increased repulsion where players impact the face of the club most often, above center.
speeDARC
A pair of internal arc-shaped ridges provides increased sole rigidity and better stability for the F.A.ST. Crown to flex against, leading to Bridgestone’s highest launching and fastest driver ever.
Power Milled Face
Bridgestone’s patented face milling pattern works to reduce the golf ball slippage and increased spin problem that all competitor drivers today face. The newly improved design has been enhanced for the JGR Driver. Milling is spaced further apart at the top of the driver face to maintain spin, while the milling is tighter and rougher at the bottom of the driver face to decrease spin on mishits. In addition, a new vertical milling pattern is utilized on the heel and toe of the face to reduce horizontal gear effect on mishits. The milling combines to reduce spin (300 RPMs based on robot testing) for straighter and longer drives.
Further enhancing the spin control of the JGR driver is a dual zone adjustable weighting system. The Heel weight can be modified to create a more piercing trajectory with lower spin, increased roll and more draw for longer distance. While the Center weight can be altered to increase trajectory for maximum carry distance.

More in hand pictures of the new Bridgestone JGR driver on the THP Forums.
When I had seen how deep the driver was, I wasn’t expecting this to show up in the ultra-forgiving category.
That $299 price point is great.
I wondered when someone would mill a driver face and Bridgestone has done it well. It’s a fantastic looking club head and one I would love to swing.
Absolutely love the looks of this driver. I will be interested to see how the milling performs, but I like what Bridgestone has done with the JGR.
Bridgestone has a great looking club here. The face milling is pretty interesting. I look forward to hearing what the THP testers think of this club.
Great looking club and a very solid price point
I like the looks. I enjoyed the j715 and j815. Glad bridgestone kept the milling in the JGR. Fast and forgiving with high launch makes me happy. Looking forward to trying this driver.
Very busy looking driver, but what a fantastic price point to have it at. Looking forward to the Club Clash feedback.
Looks like Bridgestone is taking the next step with their driver technology & that’s a good thing. Aesthetically this one looks ok and at that price point should move some units for them.
Nice! This thing is packed with technology at a lower price point, thank you Bridgestone Golf! I love the sounds of a higher launching/faster Bridgestone driver too, can’t wait to get my hands on one!
I really love the looks of this club. So much tech in this again. The milled face is huge, glad they are continuing it. Very interested in the weighting and specifically adjusting the center weight.
For $299, this might just end up in the bag this year.
I really like Bridgestone Products. The JGR looks like an updated Ben Hogan Big Ben CS3 Driver from several years ago.
Looks like a good addition to the Bridgestone lineup. Nice to see something at the $299 price point again.
If I am able to get my hands on one, I will definitely be giving it a try. I currently game the J815 and have been advised by my playing partners that I would be a fool to even consider replacing it.
Bridgestone is really bringing it lately. Face milling looks so bad arse and I am anxious to try this one out.
Great review. your post on this driver makes me want to go test it instantly! 🙂
you’ve shared an absolutely spot on description.
I think we will find that the $299.00 price is an error, more likely $499.00. The stock shaft would retail at $299.00. Hope I’m wrong, but I bet I’m not.
Keith,
Its no error.
The price is $299.
I’m digging the big letters up the sole/side of the head. Can’t mistake what it is for sure. at $299 I can see these helping a lot of amateurs find the fairway.
I so want to put a few swings on this driver. The J40 was good. The J715 was even better. Can’t wait to see where this fits in with those.
I purchased this driver a couple of days ago and I love it….It is long and straight…I have a handicap index of 15.8 and I highly recommend this driver. I purchased the 12 degree loft. I had been playing the cobra bio cell driver (12 degree) and this club is so much longer.
Glad you like it The Greek. Keep us updated on how its working for you, either here or in the THP forum.
