With a focus on maximizing distance for lower swing speed player, the Big Bertha V series combines light weight, aerodynamic improvements, and advanced face construction. As a compliment to the early 2014 release of the Big Bertha and Big Bertha Alpha, the V series looks to provide distance to this subset of players, which Callaway believes gives them a line to meet just about everybody’s needs.
Big Bertha V Series Driver – Information from Callaway
Our Fastest Bertha Yet.
There are many ways to find distance – one of them is speed. And speed (and lots of it) is exactly what we’re bringing in the Big Bertha V Series Driver. It’s the newest member of our Big Bertha Family, built for distance from lightweight materials, better aerodynamics and refined components, with a high MOI and OptiFit adjustability. We’ve said it and we’ll say it again, it’s here to give you more speed than you’ve ever had so you can get #BerthaLong.
Speed Optimized Technology
- A lightweight design starting at 290 grams. A lighter club helps create more clubhead speed, which helps create more ball speed, which helps you hit the ball a long way.
- Aerodynamic shaping lowers drag through the entire swing to give you faster swing speeds.
- Forged Composite material in the crown that’s lighter, leading to maximum clubhead speed for higher ball speed.
Hyper Speed Face
- This proven face technology delivers higher ball speeds across the face so you consistently hammer long drives.
- Lighter, hotter (of course) and more robust to help produce those increased ball speeds.
OptiFit Technology
- An adjustable hosel that lets you choose from a combination of 8 different loft (-1, S, +1, +2) and lie angles (Draw or Neutral) to find your optimized trajectory and shot shape.
Performance Lightweight Premium Shaft
- One more way that we give you more speed in the Big Bertha V Series – an ultra lightweight Mitsubishi Bassara Shaft.

- Pricing: $399

- Club length: 45.5”

Big Bertha V Series Fairway Wood – Information from Callaway
Our Fastest, Most Friendly Bertha Fairway Wood.
How did we build the new Big Bertha V Series Fairway Woods to give you speed, long distance, speed, versatility, speed, friendliness, and more speed? By packing in all the lightweight speed optimized technology you can handle, putting in our Modern Warbird soleplate for that versatility, and adding new high launch designs to easily get the ball moving up in the air. So they’re a lot faster off the clubface (that’s an understatement), you can hit them from anywhere, and here’s something you’ll want to know…they’re the most friendly fairway wood we’ve ever made.
(Oh, and P.S., remember the legendary Heavenwood? We’re bringing it back as a special V Series option!)
Speed Optimized Technology
• An advanced, lightweight aerodynamic clubhead design to deliver maximum clubhead speed for superior ball speed and greater distance
• Lightweight shaft to generate faster clubhead speeds
Hyper Speed Face
• It increases ball speeds across the face for longer, more consistent distance
Modern Warbird Soleplate
• Increases versatility from everywhere with an updated design that builds off of one of the most versatile fairway woods ever produced
High Launch Design
• Increases launch angle to get the ball up in the air for improved distance, especially when the impact is low on the clubface
• Higher launch helps to create our most forgiving fairway wood ever
Special Heavenwood Option
• Every golfer could use the new Heavenwood in their bag. This unique fairway wood configuration can provide more consistent distance and tighter dispersion than you might get from, say, a standard 4-wood and 7-w

Has a classic callaway look to it from address. Bringing back the old warbird sole too should resonate with a lot of people. The optiforce was a good club, looking forward to seeing how this improves on it. Also, I like that they brought back the heavenwood name.
Looks good to me. I really like the look of the fairways!
Good to see Callaway chasing Taylormade down the rabbit hole. More choices is good, right?
Really like the looks of these. And Love that its geared specifically for slower swing players like myself. Looking forward to feedback in the near future.
I am very excited for this club based on the success of the Optiforce. The Warbird sole is back and that was one of my all time favs. Good for Callaway!
Very good looking offering here. I’m definitely interested as I’m in their target I believe being a slower swing speed player (low 90’s with driver).
It seems in the past that these lighter weight clubs were also designed to help get the ball in the air which is not something I need. Curious to see how this would work for me.
Yes please, it sounds like an excellent addition to the line up. Seeing the aesthetics that reminds me of the past callaway clubs is a great touch. Also with the new tech, a perfect combination.
Love the classic look of this club. I am excited to give this some swings.
Definitely liking the look of these clubs, and hope they get quite a bit of attention (especially considering how well received the Optiforce line was last season). Would love to give these a swing…too bad the Heavenwood (and most likely the 13.5 HT) will be RH only.
After seeing the color pictures I actually like the looks. Clean lines and the sole plate isn’t as bad as I originally thought. Big Bertha is performing for me and I won’t replace that anytime soon, but this one has my interest.
I’m in their target of driver SS, but the light weight shaft is my only concern.
Looks like the Optiforce. I do wish that Callaway had reserved the Bertha name for its high end line only. This looks like a step back to me.
I like the looks of this one. But with the target customer being those with lower swing speeds, is yet another $400 driver the right price point? It seems a little high to me.
The optiforce fairway woods were fantastic for a slow swing speed guy like myself. But I have problems controlling longer shafted fairway woods and drivers (I have a 913 D2). So, this looks like a great option for me to have driver and fairway woods paired up in a nice set. The heavenwood is really an exciting idea. I hit my optiforce 5-wood pretty good, this new club should be longer and higher so I’m into that. I like the 45.5″ shaft on the driver, versus a 46″ or longer (my titleist is 45″)…so I should be able to hit this driver higher and longer. I’m not a smooth swinger, and I’ve read these 290cc drivers are for smooth swingers, but I hit the fairway woods just fine…I’m excited about this lineup. This has been a big year for Callaway, after playing G series irons for years I bought the Apex irons (which I love), and I switched to the SR3 ball (which I also love)…Finally, I love the shafts they are putting in the clubs. I play the Bassara in my Titleist, it’s a GREAT shaft…this will complete my Callaway bag, and hopefully I can ignore new products for 3 years or so…
