Callaway Apex Black Irons

It’s hard to believe that it has been 19 months since Callaway introduced their latest range of Apex ’21 irons. The entire Apex range continues to be a huge success for Callaway, but if you aren’t familiar with this line, feel free to check out our preview article by clicking here

Callaway Apex Black Irons

Apex is the best of the best for Callaway Golf. With every release, these forged irons continue to get some of the brand’s top pieces of technology. As you probably figured out before reading this article, the new Apex Black irons are Callaway’s best irons in a Black Plasma PVD finish. Black finishes are one of those golf trends that certainly draw the eye of many golfers because irons look sleek in this type of finish. Let’s face it, the Apex irons already look good, and the darker finish might make them look even more attractive.

A look at the finish of the Apex black irons

Besides the finish, golfers probably know what they are getting in the Apex Black irons. Each iron has an A.I. designed Flash Face Cup creating higher ball speed and more consistent spin profiles across the face. Also, the Tungsten Energy Core helps Callaway engineers cram 5x more tungsten into these irons than in the Apex 19. Having more precisely placed tungsten helps with launch conditions and forgiveness on those off-center strikes. Also, the 1025 milled carbon steel body and urethane microspheres help deliver the fantastic sound and feel you’d expect when hitting a forged iron.

Set makeup being 4-AW

Even though Callaway expects that most purchases of the Apex Black irons will be via custom order, they will also be found in stores, although their presence will be on a much smaller scale. Steel irons will be available with a True Temper MPH 95 steel shaft, while the UST Recoil Dart 75 will be the graphite option. Both shafts will employ a blacked-out look with a black Golf Pride Z Grip.
