Callaway Chrome Tour – May Major Golf Balls

It is hard to believe that the second Major Championship of the season is upon us. Every year, after Augusta, the calendar goes full steam ahead, and this time the focus in the middle of May shifts to Charlotte, North Carolina. With Quail Hollow playing site to the PGA Championship, it of course means more special releases with fun plays on the state, course, and event itself.

Limited releases are fun, though admittedly some do it better than others. Fortunately for all of us, when it comes to the Majors, Callaway Golf doesn’t miss with their Chrome Tour designs.

Golf balls and box

Although the Chrome Tour continues to be the canvas for these releases, it is Callaway Golf’s Truvis design which opens up so many possibilities. This time around, they have turned to the duo of Carolina blues centered around the state’s two most prominent colleges as the color palette. Within that is a unique “QC” which wears a crown as a nod to Charlotte’s nickname as the Queen City. Not only that, but there is also an additional tip of the cap to the history of the city’s other nickname, the Hornets’ Nest, via images of the insect intermingled with the QC emblems.

The whole design is tied together with the 704 Area Code for Charlotte, North Carolina. The use of these codes for each of the various Major Championship locations has become a consistent piece of the puzzle for the releases, and rightfully so.

As for the Chrome Tour itself, in case you are curious about just what type of golfer might benefit from it, you might want to jump into the deepest discussion on the internet about it via this thread on the THP community. Callaway continues to push the envelope as far as golf ball performance and quality is concerned, with the Chrome Tour leading the way.

The Details

The Chrome Tour May Major limited release officially drops today with the golf balls priced at $54.99/dozen. They will be available through retailers everywhere, as well as directly through Callaway Golf’s website, callawaygolf.com
