The year of the golf ball? While it may not seem as exciting as the year of the driver, 2024 has proven to be significant for Callaway in the golf ball market. With the launch of the Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X, Callaway has not only maintained its momentum in the premium golf ball category but also achieved a record market share of 22.2% in July, their highest to date. Their success extended beyond sales, they also secured three major tournament victories on the PGA and LPGA tours. Now, Callaway aims to build on this momentum with the introduction of a new addition to the Chrome Tour lineup, the all-new Chrome Tour Triple Diamond.

Fans of Callaway products will be familiar with the Triple Diamond name, which has been associated with drivers and metalwoods for quite some time. Typically, this designation indicates that the product is the lowest-spinning and most tour-worthy option in the line.
In the case of the golf ball, the name continues this trend by targeting a small segment of golfers. Simply put, the Triple Diamond is a lower-spinning version of the Chrome Tour X. This golf ball is designed for players who seek speed, prefer a firmer feel, and want to reduce spin.

Chrome Tour Triple Diamond
Features & Benefits
As part of the Chrome Tour lineup, the Triple Diamond features innovative technologies, including the Hyper Fast Soft Core, which has been optimized to provide a firmer feel. Additionally, a new Seamless Tour Aero cover enhances the ball’s flight characteristics, resulting in a more penetrating trajectory. This combination of the cover and low spin properties contributes to a more stable and consistent ball flight, especially when hitting into the wind.

While the ball excels in low-spin performance during full swings, it still utilizes a urethane cover to ensure optimal performance and spin around the greens. Below is a quick chart illustrating how the Triple Diamond compares to the Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X within the lineup.

When Callaway launched the Chrome Tour lineup, they touted it as the new gold standard for tour performance golf balls. With the recent addition of the Triple Diamond, they believe they have enhanced the Chrome Tour line even further.
The Details
The Triple Diamond will be available in white and white with their Triple Track alignment aid. Those looking at add these to the bag will be able to on January 31, 2025, for $54.99.

Tested these out and not what i remembered the first time I tried them. They are definitely firmer but I couldn’t tell a difference off the putter and I was seeing really good distance with these. Think I’m gonna switch from CT to CTTD. Time to order a few dozen and sell off some CT if anyone interested, lol. Even in cold temps I really liked the all it was checking when I needed it to and was just seeing longer distances than the CT. I could play either ball, but think I’m gonna switch. Will play off the CT when it’s really cold though.

This is probably the longest golf ball off the tee I’ve ever played. It’s downright shocking at times.

Agreed. I have caught a few perfectly flush and they are rockets. I got one out to about 320 in Myrtle, and had to be the longest drive of my life.
All the ball testing reviews also seem to agree its the longest as well. I am kicking myself for writing it off all year until July.

My ONLY thing is the adjustment into greens with wedges for me. Full irons are fine, but my wedge game with how I play, they make me change things up a good bit.

I can see that. I don’t get fancy with wedges and just play to get wedge shots close. I don’t get much backspin on wedge shots with the CTTD, more hit and stop. On the sim I’m still seeing 9500 to 10,000RPM with the 58 degree Opus though. It just doesn’t back up on the greens on the course.
If that’s all I have to give up to get great performance off driver and irons, I’ll take it any day.

On full swings with my lob I see similar on the monitor, but I don’t full swing the 54/60, it’s those touch and manipulated shots where max spin is critical for me.

It was longer through the bag for me today and it was odd to me due to the cold temps. I mean on hole 3 (par 5) after drive I had 195 to pin. Pulled 5i and put it to pin high 20’ from the pin. I thought I didn’t like this ball at first try last year but boy was I wrong lol.

Waiting on person to pay me for the 4 dozen standard CT and once that happens, more CTTD will be ordered.
I am down to the last dozen of the customized CTTD balls after yesterdays round. I scattered the better part of a dozen all over that course. I probably should have brought a lesser ball but I didn’t restock by bag after my Myrtle Beach trip, so had what I had. I just didn’t’ have a good driving day. The CTTD balls went fine, it was my swing. I still had two or three drives over 260 with fairway finder swings, which is good for me.
The approach wedge shots still remain instant hit and stop for me. Time and time again. I know it will stop 3 feet from the ball mark. If I were a lower ball flight guy I could see issues with this ball, but that’s not me. I fear no trees as I’ll go over them with a wedge in my hand.
I’m not real keen on trying any other balls for next year. These balls were a life saver for me to reduce driver spin and gain back some distance. At least compared to the CT, these are my preferred ball. I hit the Left Dash ProV1 ball on the sim, and it’s super comparable. I’m hoping to see a release of the RRB Crome Tour Triple Diamond balls soon.
I tried these. They are great for who they are made for. But they dont spin enough for me over all.

Off driver, off irons, or “yes”?
I found my driver spin is greatly reduced, but that’s it. Irons and wedges It’s still there, maybe only 300-400 RPM less. Which isn’t noticeable for me.

It’s interesting that you play the CSX/LS and don’t get along with this one. I know there are differences, I just wouldn’t have guessed it.

Yeah, I agree. Lately I have been playing balls with more spin and kinda liking it.

With my Chrome Tour test this weekend on the sim, I was surprised how low the spin numbers were for me. It made me think I may be able to put a higher spinning ball back in play.
Man there’s always something to go after and think about in this game.
Really looking for another B3G1 deal so I can stock up for next season. This ball has been real strong for me

Less spin is what I need. I understand that that’s not the case for all people but what I saw through the bag was so good my last round.
I thought this golf ball was incredibly good in the wind as well. I was in FL a few weeks ago playing and it was blowing 15-25mph constantly and I was still pounding it with not much role after all the rain they had. I tried to swap out 2 dz brand new Chrome Tour’s at PGA Superstore for the Triple D’s and they wouldn’t let me. I was surprised since they are a Cally retailer and they are all the same price.

Haha. Not just a want for me but it’s also a need, especially in the longer end of the bag.
I was pretty vocal in the lead up to and after my experience at the Goat Cup about my love for the Chrome Tour X. I have seen significant progress in my game this year (handicap dropped 7.8 strokes). I believe a huge part of that was finding and sticking with the right golf ball.
But internet golfers gonna be internet golfers….
So I bought a box of Chrome Tour Triple Diamond to test out the opposite end of the spectrum from what I’ve spent the past several months playing. Put them thru the paces on GC Quad over several sessions and took them outdoors to play one round. The good news is I found the ball does exactly what Callaway says it will: it’s low spin and fast ball speed. The bad news is I found that just doesn’t work for me. I feel like I lost a lot of control over my ball using these.
It was a fun experiment but it’s over. This has further cemented to me that the CTX is the golf ball for me.

Good on you for trying it and giving it a run. It’s not a ball for everyone, and probably not a ball for most.
