Callaway wants you to know that 2025 is the year your iron game elevates from good to elite. To kickstart this process, they are releasing not just one but four different sets of Elyte irons to complement their new line of drivers, fairways, and hybrids.

Golf can be a challenge for players of all skill levels. Each golfer has their own goals; some aim to break the 100, 90, or 80 mark, while others focus on minimizing lost balls and enjoying their time on the course. Since every golfer is unique, why settle for a set of irons that doesn’t cater to your specific playing experience? This is the philosophy Callaway has embraced with their new Elyte iron lineup. They recognize that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, they have advanced their club technologies to create irons that will elevate your current game and help you reach new heights. Let’s explore the technologies that will help take your game to an elite level.
Elyte Technology
Speed Frame

When Callaway released the Paradym irons, they introduced a new construction method known as Speed Frame. This design helps reinforce and stiffen the top line of the irons, creating a strong and stable supporting structure. Utilizing the Speed Frame construction helps unlock several benefits, including enabling a thinner face to enhance ball speeds. Additionally, it provides a feel that many players associate with forged or more premium irons. With this new generation of Speed Frame, Callaway has managed to pack approximately 20% more urethane microspheres inside the clubheads, which dampens sound and delivers an outstanding feel.
Ai10x Face

Last year, with the Ai Smoke irons, Callaway tailored each face to ensure optimal launch conditions while providing speed and forgiveness. Knowing that not all swings are the same, the challenge becomes creating an iron that could perfectly match with potentially an unperfect swing. This philosophy continues with the new Ai10x face. By collecting even more data points, Callaway has made adjustments to enhance performance. For instance, in the Elyte HL models, the face has been optimized for slower swing speeds, compared to the Ai Smoke HL, because the data indicated that golfers fitted into the HL model had lower swing speeds than previously thought. As a result, the face on the Elyte HL irons is designed to be more active than last year’s model, helping golfers achieve more height and hold more greens.
Tri-Sole Design
One aspect often overlooked in the game-improvement iron category is sole design, which goes beyond just width. Callaway refuses to neglect this detail in the Elyte irons. After learning from other parts of their lineup and receiving feedback from tour players, they developed a new Tri-Sole design featuring a sharper leading edge and some chamfering on the trailing edge. During testing, Callaway observed an increase in speed through the turf with this design compared to their previous models. Since many golfers do not consistently make ball-first contact, this improved sole design enhances turf interaction and promotes better contact.
Style

Before examining the four models in the Elyte family, it’s important to note that Callaway has not only integrated useful technologies into these irons but has also aimed for a more premium design. Based on my discussions about the Ai Smoke irons, the cavity design was somewhat polarizing. In contrast, the Elyte features a badging with a plated finish that beautifully complements the chrome-plated head.
Alongside its classic, clean look, the Elyte is also highly durable and offers the appearance one would expect from a higher-priced iron. Plus, they look great in the bag.
The Models
Elyte

Callaway promotes the Elyte as a top-tier game improvement iron. Its size and shape can compete with many of the players distance irons available on the market, including the recently released Apex Ai200. Elyte is designed for golfers seeking distance while still prioritizing consistency. The Ai10x face has been finely tuned for players with average to fast swing speeds, ensuring consistent speeds, launch angles, and spin rates. In terms of loft, the Elyte features modern game-improvement specifications, with a 29° 7-iron and a 42° pitching wedge designed to provide a mid-high launch and low spin profile.
Elyte HL

Unsurprisingly, “HL” stands for “high launch,” as the Elyte HL model is designed for golfers who need help hitting the ball higher. Achieving a higher launch and adding extra spin will increase carry distance and improve stopping power on the green. As previously mentioned, the Ai10x face has been re-tuned for greater flexibility, providing optimal performance for golfers with moderate to average swing speeds. As the HL model, the lofts are 1° weaker across the board, featuring a 30° 7-iron and a 43° pitching wedge.
Elyte X

The Elyte X is designed to be the most forgiving model in the Elyte family. While the Elyte HL provides additional loft for golfers needing help with launch and spin, the Elyte X boasts the thickest topline, widest sole, most offset, and longest blade length among all models. Despite these features, Callaway ensured this iron maintained a pleasing appearance when positioned behind the ball. The Elyte X has lofts that are 1° stronger than the Elyte irons, resulting in a 28° 7-iron and a 41° pitching wedge. Launching these irons high will be easy if you have an above-average to fast swing speed.
Elyte Max Fast

Elyte Max Fast incorporates the advantages of SpeedFrame construction, the Ai10x face, and a new tri-sole design, but it comes in an overall lighter package. The Max Fast design aims to help increase clubhead speed for golfers who may have lost speed or are still working to achieve it. In addition to being lightweight, the Max Fast features lofts that mirror those of the Elyte HL. Callaway’s philosophy is that the added speed and launch will lead to greater carry distance. It is important to note that Elyte Max Fast irons are only available in 5-AW, GW, and SW configurations.
The Details – Callaway Elyte Irons

Pricing for the Elyte irons starts at $899.99 for a set of 6 irons. All models, except for the Max Fast, are available in 4-AW, GW, and SW configurations. For the stock shafts, Callaway offers a True Temper Vector 80g (Regular) and 90g (Stiff) steel shaft for the Elyte and Elyte X irons and a higher-launching KBS Max 80g (R, S) shaft for the Elyte HL. Additionally, all three models have a stock graphite option featuring the Project X Denali Charcoal in 55g (5.0), 65g (5.5), and 75g (6.0) weights. Due to its lighter design, the Elyte Max Fast irons come with a 40g Mitsubishi Chemical Vanquish PL shaft. Pre-orders for the new Callaway Elyte irons will begin on 1/17/2025, with sets available in retail stores starting 2/7/2025.
The Elyte irons complete the launch of Callaway’s new Elyte line of products for 2025. If you haven’t already, check out our other feature articles on the Elyte driver, metalwoods, and hybrids. I would love to see a realm where cast clubs don’t have to have glued in badges In the cavity. It’s purely an aesthetic take, but I would love to see a simpler take on the back cavity.

It helps with the acoustics and vibrations. I don’t know that you can really do away with them without going full blown hollow body.

You are right there. I was thinking the Elytes were full hollow body, but the badge is covering up the back of the speed frame part (where it’s not hollow), as the gel is in the lower half.
Not much really. Give me a darker finish or maybe even satin and a little softer feel outside of center.
Sooo good
So you’ve played the Elyte’s all year long- if you could pick one thing that you hope Callaway will improve upon when you’re sitting in that presentation in December, what is it?
I’ll tag some of my other Elyte user’s to jump in- @Joshnoble01 @Dougie
Just using them the past few months I don’t know that there’s really anything to critique. They have a touch more spin than the ai200 for me and feel almost as good. Like @Dougie said if they could somehow make center contact of the elyte match the ai200s then that would really be something special. Performance wise however just not sure there’s more they can do there other than have the club swing itself
Used these on vacation as rentals. They didn’t feel like rentals at all. Few swings and I loved them. Looking forward to trying the 2026 Callaway core model. I know it’ll be killer.

Core models should not be neglected. So good
Weird things happening today at the sim. The sims are Truegolf Apogee simulators. Overhead cameras. I cleaned my irons so they were extra shiny.
The shine from the irons must have thrown off the camera. I saw many shots that were read as 13°+ over the top with a face 4°-8° open and ball flights that started right and went WAY right.
Wild stuff.

Yeah they are flashy.
I’ve never experienced miss reads. But I have an overhead spot light. I can use it to test my face alignment at address. With the glare cast onto my impact screen.
So I’m about 8 months in with the Elyte irons and these hands down have to candidates for iron set of the year. My ball striking has never been better in this area of my game. The profile of these scream premium and have held up well for me from a durability perspective! Paired with the UST Mamiya Recoil Darts, I am finding more greens and hitting my ideal windows with launch, shot shape and distance!
Well done Callaway!!!

Just weird readings. A shot 13° over the top shouldn’t start right. And as I’m prepping, seeing a hard right going right shape, really threw me off.
But driver was more successful, but that’s for a different thread
Maybe get some foot spray (the stuff with powder that I have seen used on drivers to indicate face contact) to see if that helps?
This is the first time I’ve seen that issue with the Elytes. I had them on the same sims last winter.
Plus, I won’t be playing the Elytes after December

Went and picked up my precious Elyte’s today.
Guy was done testing them and absolutely loved the heads. Shafts weren’t his profile, but he is going to try them in something more in line with what he uses.
As the season comes to a close for several of us, and we know that there is new product on the horizon for the budget conscious shoppers- Callaway is offering $100 off a set of these and appear to have most head configurations in stock. Still my favorite iron I’ve put in the bag and at this point have no plans to replace them in the ’26 season.

That sort of discount in really solid irons should tempt a lot of golfers. Lots of good high flights and solid turf interaction.
Lots of stopping power comes from that height
Indeed- I know I’ll have eyes towards what you guys see in a month, and I’ll be really interested to hear how they’ve improved on these– but… it’s going to be difficult, at least in my head for them to make these in line irons better.

I am curious where they feel they could improve on an inline release. These are just on point for what you would want from this sort of offering

Have been all year long!! They are wonderful
Just realizing I will hit some SIM shots this weekend w/ my Elyte X irons and then I will be getting a new set next week. This was a hell of a season w/ these irons as I lowered my hdcp by a few strokes and in no small part due to the forgiveness and shot correction of the X. I can’t wait to see what’s next but I will miss these irons. I will spend the winter practicing for next season w/ my new set so I’m sure one of my sons will get very lucky and play the Elyte X irons for me.
I am kind of sad to know these irons’ days are limited in my bag.
Lately, I’ve been seeing some tight gaps and very high flights. I don’t hate the height. I like a high flight. Lots of stopping power from the Elytes. I need to have that
These irons may never leave my bag. I say that tongue in cheek because I know the next set will be better. The Elyte irons are great

And yes I look forward to what you guys are going to tell us about here in about 30-60 days

Elyte 2.0 coming to your bag? Maybe as simple as that or a totally new name, but likely even better (but how?).

I think so too, and even towards the end of my season fun to see people enjoying them out of my bag that aren’t as in the main stream of releases.
They still sit in my main Cargo bag ready to get out again some day.
Can’t wait to see what the guy’s bring to us this year.

You guys definitely did… my bag is living proof. Now it’s our turn Cap.
With following the GD this year and seeing some fellas grab the AI150’s it kinda made me smile two fold. One, I splurged and grabbed a set of those as well. Two, it’s going to be tough to beat out these Elyte Core’s in my bag. The profile difference is minimal between the two and that surprised me a lot! With them actually being in a different category profile to me, they have very similar looks. The forgiveness in these Elyte’s have the advantage and still have the number one spot in my bag. I know they will put up a fight next year and looking forward to confirming that thought!
My initial and continued thoughts on these over the past year still hold true. Feel sorry for those that didn’t give these a try…they are missing out!
