We are quickly closing in on The Masters, a time when most companies tend to release limited edition products to celebrate the year’s first major championship. Callaway joined the fun earlier this week when they introduced their first batch of Chrome Tour Major Series golf balls, known affectionately as “April Major.” Now, they are back to doing what they do best: releasing some new drivers. Three of them, to be exact. You may have already read through the articles on the new Elyte Triple Diamond Max and Triple Diamond Tour Draw; if you haven’t done so, make sure to check those out. Representing the third piece of today’s announcement is a driver a little smaller in scale, 340cc to be precise. That’s right, Callaway is rolling out a brand new Elyte Mini Driver.

Callaway Elyte Mini Driver
Callaway returned to the mini-driver market last season with the release of the Ai Smoke Ti 340. It was a limited run that sold out very quickly. This time that won’t be the case as the Elyte Mini Driver is slated for a full release, making it more readily available for those who missed out on last year’s model.

Why a Mini Driver?
Companies often talk about how the tour player influences their product releases, whether related to appearance, sound, or interest in potentially niche products. When the question about why Callaway re-entered the mini-driver market comes up, the answer is straightforward: they listened to feedback from tour players, although not necessarily the names one might expect. Much of the input started from players on the Korn Ferry Tour, which typically doesn’t play on the same large golf courses as the PGA Tour. With tighter holes and doglegs, these players were seeking equipment that offered a higher moment of inertia (MOI) than a fairway wood while still providing ample power and accuracy.

It’s with that same frame of mind as to who the Elyte Mini driver sets up for. Golfers who carry a 3-wood in their bag but don’t use it often, or those who want to add another reliable option for tee shots, may benefit from a clubhead that is easier to hit and provides more forgiveness. Additionally, the shorter shaft design may also help players improve their fairway regulation percentage. Ultimately, it’s about providing options and versatility in the top part of the bag.

Being that the mini driver is now part of the Elyte family, it goes without saying that we will benefit from much of the same technology that has made the Elyte one of the top drivers on the market. We still get the Thermoforged Carbon Crown and the Ai10x Face, which produces ten times the number of control points present on the Ai Smart Face used on last year’s model. Most notably, the Elyte Mini Driver is getting the new perimeter weight port system, allowing for neutral, draw, or fade settings. For this design, golfers can look for up to a 12-yard shot shape correction. That’s a nice upgrade from last year’s mini driver, offering only front and back adjustable weights.
The Details
As mentioned above, the Elyte Mini Driver will be a full release for 2025. It will be available in two different lofts, 11.5° and 13.5°, and will come with Callaway’s adjustable hosel, giving golfers eight loft and lie combinations. Both lofts will be available for right and left-handed golfers. For the shaft, we have the Project X Denali Charcoal, which will measure out at 43.75″. Additionally, a Mitsubishi Chemical Eldio shaft is available for women.
Callaway’s Elyte Mini Driver will be available for purchase beginning on April 4th with a price tag of $449.99.

Having fit a few of these lately, it’s wild how hot this thing is, yet forgiving. Have had a few people struggle with a driver, but thrive with this.

Man am I hoping to join that list.

Went w/ the Tensei blue as thats what I have in 3W & 5W currently w/ good success. I was actually fit into that a few years ago for driver as well.
I will tinker at some point of course so I will look probably look for that shaft then.
The Mini got its maiden voyage yesterday. My lord can it launch the ball! Was so high, yet didn’t balloon and was extremely impressed with the distance I was seeing. Well, except the topped shot that dribbled in front of the ladies tees thank goodness ;). It’s baby brother TI5W took over and got me home with a low contact mid flight missile to save par.
I love the size of this driver and the matte crown is just beautiful to me. I did build this one to take on my driver straight away head to head. It has the strong cog playing at 9.5° and the shaft was built +2″ to get to standard driver length. I realize this wasn’t designed to be a driver replacement, but love the 340CC head size so much I wanted to try.
With it coming in at E0 SW it really doesn’t feel like a hammer, just smooth and powerful. Even though they put a lighter slider weight in.
I figured it wasn’t going to be able to complete distance wise and that showed up. This set-up can put a hurt on the ball and SEND it, just not like it’s big brother. So much higher too. Just falls short as a main replacement.
I have a round Thursday and plan on leaving the TD Driver at home. Give this one all the driver shots and see how it goes. Don’t think I gave it enough swings to see what it can do the way I designed the set-up.
I succumbed to the pressure and ordered one with the Aretera shaft.
The half inch tipping build of the shaft could potentially ease any concerns with the shaft profile. I’m interested in the comparison to the AI Smoke when it gets here.

Looking forward to your thoughts when you get it in hand and out to the course!

I’m going to keep my current Tensei Black. It’s going to be a fun shaft war with a club that has not let me down with how easy it is to hit.

That’s good distance for that hole too.
Leaves about 140, straight up the hill.

Lol… club is already ordered. And I passed that level a long time ago. Trying to get back up to yours.

Straight from the box on Saturday to the course tonight with nothing more than a shaft swap and a move of the weight to the draw setting. Played in a very strong headwind tonight but hit 2 of 2 fairways with the Elyte mini tonight with some outstanding distance and more importantly accuracy. I gambled and pulled it off the 1st tee in this:

It was gusting to about 30 mph and I wanted to hit something that stayed fairly low to avoid as much of the wind as possible. Teed it slightly down and said, here we go.The result, hit fairway and distance that I was not expecting given what I was asking it to do. Hit that 250 mark off the rip, into the wind. I was blown away.
I need to hit it a couple of more times from a sound perspective as there was something a little higher pitch with it and not as muted as I was used to. However I had a toboggan on due to the temps so it could have been my mind playing tricks on me.
Flight wise, it’s appearing that it’ll be exactly like the Smoke mini, in a nice little baby draw that gives me that 2nd tee option I’ve been looking for.
We all have that driver that we seem to love but we all also have the driver that from time to time will act up out of no where. I think having a mini driver is an excellent idea as who doesn’t want a fairway finder. I love that the Elyte Mini has all the adjustments that its bigger brother has so this will be a fun summer of driving the ball of the Tee. I just wish it was as good off the fairway as I have hit 13.5* well before but not the size of the Elyte Mini. The size of it just puts up a red flag for me
I was incorrect about this build not being able to keep up with the TD. It’s not taking it over I don’t think. It goes so high and I just laugh as it doesn’t balloon. The cog will get a workout on the TD if there is more in the tank both in distance, but more importantly more fairways.
Left its big brother at home so I wouldn’t be tempted. My FIR jumped to 71% for the round and I was only 20 or so yards shorter on avg and performance avg. I just loved looking down at the smaller profile and confidence was high.
It’s only 1 round and a couple swings into the comparison, so too early to tell. I was for sure thinking I would be letting this one go. That’s not the case right now.
Have some work coming up, but hopefully be able to get it out again next weekend or the following week!
Few more swings with the mini tonight and I can say this thing is an absolute weapon to have in the bag and I don’t know that I could have asked for a better 2nd tee option. I’m seeing distances out of this, that I saw in my driver last year but with much better accuracy. I realize that FIR doesn’t tell the whole story, as courses can not be as penalizing for not hitting fairways, but looking at the mini vs my driver last year I’m doubling the FIR I’m seeing.
The front 9 of my league course has a few holes where driver can get you in trouble due to hole setup, so I relied on the mini tonight and it performed. Well it may have performed a little too well, but I’m not going to complain too much. One particular hole tonight is a dog leg hard left. Seriously it’s out and straight left, with trees and a creek protecting you from taking driver unless you’re confidently hitting 280 ish and clearing the trees from a height perspective. Anything 220-250 is perfect if you’re not trying to clear the creek. Wind was in our face tonight so I decided to hit the mini and look for that 250 in the fairway shot. Ended up hitting dead straight and slightly through the fairway, but nothing that got me into trouble.

I think I might be on that list…. Only 1 range session as it was delivered yesterday but man was this thing easy to swing/hit. Hit a bunch off the tee and then a few off the deck and this immediately replaced my AI Smoke 3W (which I liked). It’s early but does feel as though it will help on those days where I can’t get out of my own way w/ driver. @JB once made fun of me for hitting 3W further than driver (this is true) but now it doesn’t feel so bad :ROFLMAO: .
I finally got to hit one of these yesterday, it’s interesting, the Callaway mini’s remain so unique compared to the others on the market.
It doesn’t spin as much as I saw from the Ai Smoke version, but it definitely still produces more spin than the GT280 or BRNR does for me.
But, again, it’s a unique profile imo. And it fits what they’re trying to achieve.
Imagine if they made a elyte triple diamon mini w. 280-300cc head…
There you go a Elyte Tiple Diamond mini 280-300cc head. That is a good size and would be awesome. I just couldn’t hit it well enough of the turf to keep it plus off the Tee my Driver was a much better fairway finder. Maybe I didn’t give it a fair chance but I’m sure I’m not the only one who struggled hitting it off the fairway as it’s just too big and I don’t generate enough club head speed
