Although every release cycle from Callaway Golf has its own new main naming convention, Triple Diamond has begun to take a life of its own since its inception. Born from the primary of creating a Tour driven driver which would garner the brand more play and wins, its evolution since then is a story that in and of itself could merit a documentary.
Triple Diamond is the key to Callaway Golf’s mission on Tour, from Prototype to household recognition, it is truly a franchise now. As such, the brand is giving people what they want, after the success of bringing the Tour influenced TD Max to retail the decision has been made to do it once again, but this time to make it Elyte.
Callaway Golf Elyte Triple Diamond Max Driver
People seem to forget that no one in the industry spends as much on R&D as Callaway Golf. Spending to spend would be one thing, but with Callaway it is a very focused and driven quest to push the envelope of every single release in a way that would make Ely himself smile with pride.

A large piece of that investment has been centered around Tour innovation as previously mentioned. Within that, the company has developed a prototype program which is at the top of the game. Although Triple Diamond was created around the idea of a smaller than maximum size driver which checks all of the low spin and high-workability boxes that their Tour staff demands, its time on the proving ground which is the Tour, has seen Callaway make some very keen observations.
Foremost is the reality that more forgiveness hurts no one, but when dealing with the pickiest golfers on the planet, you have to be clever with how it is presented. That is exactly how the first Triple Diamond Max head was created, to make a more forgiving TD. The catch though was recognizing that the shape and topline of the Triple Diamond has long been a massive part of its professional popularity.

Yes, the Triple Diamond itself has become more neutral over time, but still, with a 450cc size there is always going to be some forgiveness left on the table. With Elyte Triple Diamond Max, the move this year is as it was with Ai Smoke, to take the shaping and lines of the standard TD, and build them into a full 460cc shape.
While that may not seem like much, in a design such as this, 10cc can mean quite a bit of mass relocation and massaging not possible in the smaller version. Not to mention, by keeping the visuals and lines the same, Tour adoption comes much easier, with last year’s version becoming the most played Callaway model professionally.

Technology wise, the Elyte Triple Diamond Max has all the feats of engineering which the core lineup does. If you want to know more on that, be sure to dive into our initial release rundown here. To answer the questions everyone will ask, yes the Thermoforged Carbon Crown is present, as is the 360 Chassis and incredible Ai10x Face.
Final Thoughts
To see Callaway bringing the Elyte version of the Triple Diamond Max to release for consumers will no doubt make both the serious and nerdy amongst us golf equipment addicts extremely excited. The question this year, at least for this writer, is where does it fit?

Last time around, there was a significant gap in the Ai Smoke lineup which the TD Max filled brilliantly. With the foundational trio of heads from the Elyte release this year, it didn’t feel like that gap was nearly as prevalent. So, it will be interesting to see just how it is received, especially with the Triple Diamond Tour Draw being introduced as well.
The Details
Pre-Sale on the Elyte Triple Diamond Max begins on 4/2/25 with the driver hitting retail on 4/4/25. Pricing is $649.99 and the club will come standard with Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65 (S, X) or the Aretera EC1 Blue 65 (S) for its $100 upcharge. Both 9.0 and 10.5 degree heads will be offered, with 9.0 being the LH option as well.

Sorry, there is nothing in my material with that info in a chart.
I see that the standard shaft flex options are X and S.
Don’t see a LH option on the website yet. Tempting to take advantage of a trade in bonus

Lets say I ordered the TD because I didn’t have enough patience to wait for this release. Am I really missing out on meaningful forgiveness or is like the spin where it is somewhat negligible?
You have my undivided attention with this one Callaway. TD so far is great…but this could be even better somehow.
Well the 30 day guarantee on Callaway ensures you could take a chance on it and if its not what you are looking for send it back for the other. The other person you can consult is @ScoFoBG. He can hook you up.
I will tell you that I hit both the TD and core. I am maybe giving up 1 mph ball speed max but I am unable to hit a banana slice on the course. This is all player dependent. What is your tee game like?
Do I need it? No.
Do I want it? Hell yes

What would you want from it compared to your currently Elyte? I’m all for new toys! Just more curious!

Group 2 going to be switching heads for the hole layout?
Alright we have the core for down the middle drives, TDTD for dog leg left and the TD for dog right.

Weather made it difficult at staff retreat to hit all the things a lot. I’ve got it at home now though, so I should be getting swings in soon.

Ahhh didnt realize it was a retreat thing! Pesky rain.
Looking at the awesome chart it’s crazy to see where the core model sits in all of this. I would have thought more like this

MF high spin low speed
X slightly lower spin low speed
Elyte left of X same speed
TD Max left of core slightly higher speed
Elyte and TDTD as they are but lower spin than core
Just an interesting line up (and goes to show how little I know)

Low spin and super low spin isn’t a Tour demand/trend anymore. Most of those guys want to be in the 2500-2700 range, which is funny because on the internet that would be called “high” spin by some hahaha
As for the core model, gotta remember, most amateurs hit the ball with a varied face which causes spin issues, so that driver being lower makes it more playable by not just helping distance potential, but also making the misses not as spinny.

I guess that’s where fitting/working on a launch monitor comes into play. I’m still learning what I need so I’m just trying to put pieces together and understand the equipment and what they do better. Have a woods fitting this weekend hopefully I’ll understand better seeing it myself (assuming they have lefty stuff lol) Thanks for the breakdown!
