When Callaway Golf recently released the new vision for the Great Big Bertha it was met with a lot of attention, mostly on the price, but here at THP our focus fell more on the company introducing their new “Forged Carbon” material. Why? It very clearly presented the opportunity for a dramatic change in driver design and weight manipulation. Immediately thoughts went to just what the new material could mean for the main releases from Callaway and how it could change the paradigm.
Turns out, we were close.
Say hello to the newest driver lineup from Callaway Golf, the Paradym.

The New Era of Driver Design
Callaway has been riding a rocket ship lately and releases like the Rogue line in 2022 cemented their hold at the top of the game when it comes to metalwoods. In 2023 we are not getting the next Epic release, instead it is Paradym.
While yes, clearly the marketing team had some say in that name with its trendy spelling, root word certainly seems to fit here as Callaway might have just opened a whole new world of possibilities. That potential centers around the previously mentioned Forged Carbon. For those who didn’t pay attention in the recent GBB release, this material is proprietary to Callaway and utilizes bundles of carbon fiber which are then forged into shape. This is notable because it means that any shape and thickness can now be created out of carbon, and without sacrificing strength or stiffness.

That is the centerpiece of the new Paradym Drivers. Callaway has combined their Triaxial Carbon with the new Forged Carbon to create the 360 Carbon Chassis, creating the entire mid-section of the driver out of carbon fiber which is 44% lighter. Now, before the internet attacks saying that carbon sole/crown combinations aren’t new, you are right, however this is a 360-degree design which for the first time ever features no internal cage.

Weight savings like that in the center of the designs mean that Callaway could push weight to where it is most effective in the rear and face of the clubheads. In all three heads, a notable amount was placed rearward to help increase MOI, but much also went to the front through the fine tuning and evolution of other notable Callaway technologies.

Yes, this year there is a new version of Jailbreak which is now more wishbone shaped through an evolution of geometry. The function here is still to maximize horizontal and torsional stability to ensure the energy is being transferred from the face to the ball, and not being lost through the head itself. All the while, they still managed weight savings of 33% compared to Rogue’s Jailbreak design.

The biggest reason for the change is Callaway’s continued investment to stay way out at the forefront of A.I in club design. As the A.I. has improved, they have realized that Jailbreak and their face designs are a team rather than individual players in the design. As the face design changes with each release to maximize performance, so too must the Jailbreak.

Where the face design is concerned, what was once just a topographic design, the A.I. is now considering more parts of the driver heads like the transition, flange, and aforementioned Jailbreak. Flash Face may have kicked this off on a race for speed, but this new Face Cup and Forged Titanium Face not only chase speed and spincistency but using new testing programs to create topographies on the face which maximize the launch conditions as well as downrange dispersion.

It is in all of this that Callaway is touting the Paradym lineup to be more accurate downrange than any other driver lineup the company has produced. Callaway feels like they continue to have the most advanced technology on the market in all areas, and with three models in the Paradym lineup they also believe they have something for everyone.
Callaway Paradym Driver
The meat and potatoes of the Paradym lineup, this is the driver which should appeal to the most golfers with the highest MOI combined with a more refined shape that is not as stretched as the Rogue Max was. Callaway believes that this head will appeal to both groups who were players of the Rogue Max as well as the Max LS.
Thanks to the creation of such massive weight savings via the 360 Carbon Chassis also means that the Adjustable Perimeter Weighting (APW) is present in the Paradym with no performance tradeoffs for the first time. The APW alone should allow for up to 12 yards of fine tuning (15 when you use the Opti-Fit adapter as well). Here, you get the adjustability while not sacrificing the MOI.

The Paradym will be available in 9.0, 10.5, and 12.0 degree options.
Callaway Paradym X Driver
Finally, Callaway is getting back on board with featuring an in-line driver which offers more draw bias and higher launch conditions without slapping “DRAW” all over the naming. This alone should increase the number of golfers who look at this head, right or wrong, that is the reality.
This is the largest head of the three and is more elongated front to back while still maintaining curvature to the rear of the shaping. While there is draw bias, Callaway is quick to emphasize there should be many Rogue Max players who will be most comfortable in this shape.

The Paradym X does not offer APW since it has a specifically focused weight placement in the rear of the design, but it does still use Opti-Fit for some adjustment. The X will be available in 9.0, 10.5, and 12.0 degree versions.
Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond Driver
Finally, the Triple Diamond is present and accounted for in the Paradym lineup. Naturally, this is the most compact head of the three, but Callaway is boldly stating that it is also the exact head design which will be on Tour and utilized by their Tour Staff with many already in-play.
While there is no APW here either, there are instead a changeable 14g/2g weights which can be flipped to fine tune the Triple Diamond. Callaway’s internal testing claims there is about 250 RPM’s difference depending on the placement of the heaviest weight, with spin and launch increasing in the rear position.

The Paradym Triple Diamond will be offered in 9.0 and 10.5 degrees as usual, but this year there is also an 8.0° loft which was clamored for by both Tour Staff as well as many others.
The Details
Each of the new Paradym Driver designs will come in at $599.99 and feature Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips as well as four primary premium shaft offerings. The Aldila Ascent PL Blue is the lightweight option while the Project X HZRDUS Silver/Black and Mitsubishi Kai’li White round out the other choices.
While Callaway has never been a company to shy away from hyping their releases, they also have a tremendous track record of following through. Will Paradym deliver? Time will tell, but it will surely be a fun journey to follow.
Not my best round driving, hitting 36%. Some bad bounces led me to hit 1 fairway on the front, for 14% FIR. Made a ball switch, and hit 4 of 7 on the back, but one of them just running through the fairway, for 57%. Even on a day when I didn’t have my swing to begin, the ball stayed in play outside of one that rolled into a creek. Nothing way off target, or off line. Had a long drive of 295, on a downhill par 4. I usually play an iron off this tee, due to the hazards, but had the confidence to pull the X, and was rewarded.

I went from x back to rogue st max to the smoke max. The paradym x just didn’t quite agree with me but the smoke is impressive. I generally am a club hoe but I feel zero need to muck around with the driver slot at this point. Highly recommend you check this out.

I did not. Hit them both side by side and I may have been a bit more accurate with the AI Smoke, but it was negligible. Distance too was pretty even.

I go back and forth between the standard Paradym and my Rogue ST LS. Same Ventus TR Red or Devotion
the Rogue LS is longer by maybe 10 yard, but the Paradym is definitely straighter/ more forgiving, just don’t get the roll.
I’d like to spend a couple of weeks with the AI Smoke 3 D, because when I’ve hit in the bay I was getting3-4 mph higher ball speeds over the other two
Had a career long drive today of 421 yards. Don’t mind the five bounces on the cart path, it was crushed lol
That actually did happen, but that’s not the point of the post here. Today was one of the worst statistic driver days (4/14) but it was one of the better result days I’ve had in a while. Most of the misses were just off the fairway as we’re starting to see a bit more roll than early spring. Went back to the Hzrdus shaft and set up a touch closer to the ball and stayed in the middle of the face for most of the day. Really fun round with the driver
The paradym release was legit.
I hit my Paradym paired with proto UST Mamiya Elements Golf shaft pretty darn well at Ballyhack. I’m not a bomber but I had the longest drive in my group more than a handful of times thanks to this combo.
I think I want to shorten my LIN-Q Red shaft to 45″playing length in my Paradym
This driver is nearing my personal Mt Rushmore status. It’s a good fit for me.
The look, feel, and performance – checks all the boxes.
With my confidence increasing, I’ve found myself overswinging with the X. This has led to some wayward shots. I got back to swinging a nice smooth swing, and I was rewarded with better average distance, and over 50% FIR. You don’t need to do all the work with the X, it’ll definitely help you out!

a weekend of shamble/scramble a few weeks back has nuked my driver swing. need to get out on the range when it dries out and just get some smooth tempo back.

Amazing what a scramble environment can do to ruin your golf swing, if you’re always going for it haha.

Paradym/Paradym X people did you end up upgrading to Ai Smoke max?
I did – went for a straight upgrade Paradym 10.5 to AI Smoke Max 10.5
Slightly faster ball speed / more distance, better dispersion and better all round with obviously off-centre hits – which is what the marketing will tell you as well. I also like the sound a little more.
Need to move my Paradigm on while the used market is still good, and we are in golf season.
I continue to have good success with the Paradym 9°. In the past I struggled with hitting driver high with a lot of spin. With the Paradym I am able to get a better trajectory and manage to keep more balls in play.
I am always curious about the Smoke but the Paradym is keeping me happy. Still dig the look also. Absolutely the best looking driver head I’ve seen.
Agree, 100%. Such a good looking driver!
Just range time lately but I feel like I can’t miss with this driver. If the AI smoke is truly a significant improvement over this club I may think long and hard over the latest CPO deal.
With the same shaft and loft, my Paradym beat out the Ai Smoke Max. On course testing over two days had the Smoke maybe 5yds longer avg, but the Paradym was considerably more accurate. I Sold the Smoke head. I used the Paradym all last yr, so confidence with it I am sure was a factor. I am now experimenting with a QI10…vs the Paradym
11/14 fwys hit today. Two missed were in the first cut and the other two were great tee shots but got unlucky with the bounce and ended up in a hazard.
Overall this set up flat out works and days like today any tinkering isn’t even considered. @DannyLe is amazing with his fitting and it showed today. Slight fade all day living in the 250-260 range and it was needed today. The course was wet from all the rain lately and I got no roll today. The fun part is I hit a ball that was pretty decent and I ended up getting a tee shot that was 278. This head has some serious pop.

Paradym will beat it. Just ran that test myself (qi10).
I did not. For me, I’m seeing too much good things from my paradym X to move on yet. No doubt it’s better, but driver has been such a bugaboo, and the X is so good for me, that I didn’t want to rock the boat. I’ve hit the smoke in the bay a good bit, and if I look close I can see the gains, but not enough for me to jump.
Just tonight I was all over the face and it simply kept me in play.
Went to put my sons bag in the truck. I have heard from many on our league he is driving like a madman the past few weeks. Had to peek. His TSR wasnt in there. He has a 9* Paradym that doesnt have the HZDRUS red shaft that was in there when he got it used, nor does he have the HZDRUS blue we had in there for a bit. He has the ever popular, seemingly generic anymore Tensi AV Blue. I was in front of him when he hit one dead up the gut, easy 320 carry last Tuesday. I guess the generic shaft is so popular for a reason, it just works for some people. Just never saw it in a Paradym before.
Spent today living on the perimeter of the Paradym face and still managed to stay in play save for one pull hook into the drink.
I’ve been enjoying playing the Paradym thus far and suspect it’ll stay put throughout the summer.
A bit of A swing thought has unlocked a bit more speed from this thing. Hitting driver is an enjoyable experience
I feel bad I even thought of replacing my X. Tested out the UW a few times, so only hit driver 3 times. Focused on making solid contact and letting the club do the work and boy did it ever. All 3 found the middle the fairway. First was 265, just above my average. Next 2 were 291 and 287! Such a fun round with the X!

It just keeps performing for me as well. I’ve been a serial rotator of drivers for a bit but this one will at least survive this round of releases for me.
I’m always looking for more, and it causes me to want the latest and the greatest. I love the looks of the Paradym lineup, and it certainly performs for me.

I get that…I honestly likely would have jumped seeing the gains from folks in the smoke but when I hit @Nerdy ’s I promptly flared it out right, directly into the lake, pretty much dead center of the ripples from my first ball with the X. It was at that moment I took new driver off the board while I try to tighten up my swing somehow.

Lessons and practice aren’t as fun as a new driver, but sometimes that’s what you need.

Although to be fair, the X still looks great, and I’ve been known to take a divot or two with driver ?

What a ridiculous improvement from any driver I’ve ever played. Just really have to work to have a terrible shot with it.

The X has been so good for me. I’ve been hitting it even better this year than I did last year and I’ve developed a tee game with it that I thought I didn’t have in me a couple of years back.
The X continues to be fantastic. Another 9 holes, and I went 2/3 FIR, with my one miss being a slight pull left, that hit the left side of the fairway and round the rough. Not the best position in the end, but still a fantastic shot. Average distance on the day was 267 over those 3 drives, an increase over my previous average for the year of 255. My average keeps creeping up as I let the club do the work.
I’ve been letting the club do more of the work, instead of swinging out of my shoes, and I’m seeing really good results from a dispersion perspective, and hitting more fairways and staying out of trouble keeps driving my average distance up. Really like where this is heading this season!
Was taking a look at my stats minute ago and want share some thoughts on my Paradym X.
I picked this up for the massive amount of forgiveness it provides. With my previous driver I was averaging 33% fairways hit. It was a bit rough if you will…
With my X I’m averaging 57% fairways hit. Still a work in progress but it’s an improvement that has helped me lower my cap while reducing my stress level on the tee. That is saying something for sure.

That’s great to hear! Awesome to have confidence off the tee!
Once again my inbox holds a tempting offer to trade up to the AI Smoke, so at the range last night after clinic I teed up driver and sent several shots downrange with great ball flight, with only one or two being enough offline to perhaps flirt with trouble.
So when I got home the email went to the deleted folder. It’s hard to justify swapping out a club that works so well and still looks fantastic to boot. Maybe I’ll bet mad enough one day to trade, but not today.

I’ve been tempted as well. Priced it out with the 2x trade in a handful of times and really thought about it, but I’ve just been hitting the X so well this season. I did hit the Ai Smoke a few times in store and saw some really good stuff, but not quite ready to move on from the X just yet.
I have a standard Paradym. After getting all the adjustments right it’s become almost automatic. No need to change.
Getting real close to adjusting something to get a little more right into the head
So rarely miss this right which is kinda crazy. But missed more left than striaght today.
Might wait for the phoenix testing on neutral setup.
Callaway Paradym Driver: A Comprehensive Review
Overview
With A.I. seemingly taking over the world, it is no surprise that golf clubs have gotten into the mix. The Callaway Paradym Driver, infused with A.I. technology, adds to Callaway’s impressive lineup of golf clubs. Known for their innovative technology and superior performance, Callaway has once again delivered a product that promises to enhance the golfing experience for players of all skill levels. The Paradym Driver boasts several advanced features aimed at maximizing distance, improving accuracy, and providing a more enjoyable game.

Design
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Paradym Driver is its sleek and modern design. The club features a striking blue and black color scheme with a glossy finish that exudes quality and craftsmanship. Key design tech features include:

Performance
The performance of the Callaway Paradym Driver is where it truly shines. Here are some of the key performance aspects:
Distance
One of the standout features of the Paradym Driver is its impressive distance. The combination of Callaway’s Jailbreak Technology and the Flash Face SS21 results in a significant increase in ball speed across the face-at least a club longer. This translates to consistently longer, powerful drives, even on off-center hits.

Foregiveness
Forgiveness is another area where the Paradym Driver excels. The enhanced stability and optimized weighting system ensure that even mishits don’t stray too far off course. This is particularly beneficial for mid to high handicappers looking to improve their game without sacrificing distance or accuracy.
Adjustability
The Paradym Driver offers excellent adjustability features, allowing golfers to fine-tune their setup to match their swing. The OptiFit hosel allows for easy adjustments in loft and lie angles, providing a custom fit that can help optimize launch conditions and spin rates. This level of customization ensures that the driver can adapt to different playing conditions and personal preferences. The defining feature of this hosel is that as you add or decrease loft the face angle remains constant-does not open or close the face as one adjusts it. While the adjustability is a great feature it may take some time for players to find the perfect setting.
Feel and Sound
The feel of the Callaway Paradym Driver is solid and satisfying. The feedback on impact is excellent, providing a sense of confidence and control. The sound is a pleasant mix of a muted thud and a crisp snap. It’s neither too loud nor too soft, striking a perfect balance that enhances the overall experience.
Conclusion
The Callaway Paradym Driver is a revolutionary club, designed with A.I., that delivers on its promises of distance, forgiveness, and customization. Whether you’re a low handicapper looking to fine-tune your game or a higher handicapper seeking more forgiveness and consistency, this driver is well worth considering. While the cost is inline with other premium drivers, the performance benefits and advanced features make it a worthwhile investment for serious golfers looking to elevate their game.
Overall, the Callaway Paradym Driver is a highly recommended choice for anyone in the market looking for a new driver that combines cutting-edge technology with superior performance. Anyone put two weights in the back track of the Paradym?
Just got the Triple diamond Paradym driver along with the 3 wood and Hybrid. Went to the range today to hit them for the first time. That Driver and 3 wood are like a hot knife thru butter. Just feels so good at contact. Probably feels even more amazing since the driver it’s replacing is a 2014 Big Bertha V series so quite the tech upgrade there.
Well this was for another purpose but now I have a reason to try a short driver again. 😀

Never had a driver give me the distance I get with such a smooth swing. Loving the ball flight I’m seeing right now, nice and high for good carry distance. Had my longest drive with the X today on a downhill par 4. Tight landing area, but this club still allows me to really get after it. Hit a few low on the face, but those still ended up fine. I was all over the fairway, or just off, a testament to the forgiveness this provides. So much confidence in the X.

Rinse and repeat this the last few rounds. Such a great driver!!
I really can’t bring myself to like either the name or the look of the Ai Smoke. It just looks cheap and as an ex smoker hate anything that reminds me of them.
Not the best day with the X today. Struggled pulling the ball left, just too much over the top. Ball flight was consistent, just directionally challenged today. Started off well, but faded especially down the stretch. When I found the center I’d the face, not much more I could ask for out of this driver.
