While every facet of Callaway’s designs in recent years have been incredibly successful, when it comes to the Rogue/Mavrik release cycle, fairways have always managed to be true showstoppers. So, for those wondering if that trend might continue, you can sleep easy now because these Rogue fairways aren’t a watered down version of anything, these are fairways with all new tech in them…all three of them.
Callaway Rogue ST MAX Fairways
Yes, marketing is marketing, but according to the Callaway R&D team these are the fastest fairways that they have created to date, and it all has to do with the fact that it is totally different than anything they have ever done before.
It all starts with Jailbreak. Now, yes, you have heard that before, but really it truly does start there with the new Rogue line as this is an all new take with Jailbreak ST. You see, this is a truly unique variation on Jailbreak, and it is one of three different designs used in the Rogue lineup. Thanks to A.I. Optimization, Callaway looked for a better way. That way is actually placing two structures at the absolute heel and toe perimeter of the clubface to keep the vertical stiffness, but totally free up the Face Cup to work without constraint. Translation? Same stability and retention, but with way more ball speed creation.
The next design step is the use of a Tungsten Speed Cartridge, and though the name is the same as the one used in the Rogue ST drivers, the placement and shape here is totally different because a fairway is totally different than a driver. Here the weight is placed in the front extreme perimeter and not the rear, 27-28g of tungsten to be exact, which helps create a low and forward CG in the fairways. This placement optimized where most miss on a fairway wood, low, and helps maximize playability.
Also, A.I. face optimization is alive and well with every single head in each of the three lines having a totally unique and one of a kind design. Using a new high strength C300 Face Cup, which has been used by others before but is a first for Callaway, they have been able to further prioritize speed, launch, and spin in both creation and retention.
Callaway Rogue ST MAX D Fairways
The name says it all here, these are the highest launching and most draw weighted fairway option of the Rogue ST release. These are for the golfer who needs and seeks the most shot shape correction, beyond just draw bias as the face angle, loft, and lie of this design is also optimized for this segment of player through the companies extensive fitting matrix.
The MAX D is available in both RH and LH in 3 (16°), 5 (19°), and 7 (22°) wood models.
Callway Rogue ST MAX Fairways
This is the model which will appeal to the largest portion of the bell curve, this is the fairway wood which is all about high MOI in an easy to launch off the tee and turf package. The MAX maintains a neutral overall ball flight and a lower leading edge face shape with a lower heel and toe visually to inspire confidence for a wide range of skills. Callaway has also massaged the shape here to make it as appealing as possible to more golfers, including those of higher skillsets.
There are seven options in the Rogue ST MAX fairways, 3 (15°), 3HL (16.5°), 5 (18?), HW (20°), 7 (21°), 9 (24°), 11 (27°) with all but the HW, 9, and 11 woods being available in LH.
Rogue ST Max LS Fairway Rogue ST Max LS Fairway
Callaway Rogue ST MAX LS Fairways
I think by now we all know what LS stands for, these are the lowest spinning of the three fairways models for Callaway in the Rogue ST arsenal and essentially are the LS and Triple Diamond joining forces. The shape is a Tour Preferred one like the SZ of the past with more camber in the toe and heel as well as a slightly deeper face and smaller footprint which makes it a serious tee option. The club also has an additional weight screw low and forward to make it tunable as well as even lower spin. This will be the option for those looking for a low spin rocket launching tee club.
The LS comes in 3+(13.5°), 3(15°), 3HL(16.5°), and 5(18°) with the 3+ and 3HL being RH only.
The Details
Each of the new Rogue ST MAX fairways will be available starting 2/18/22 and come in at $349.99 and standard shaft options will be as follows:
- Lightweight/Women’s – Project X Cypher Black (40g, 50g)
- Mid Offering – Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue (50g, 60g, 70g)
- Low Offering – Mitsubishi Tensei AV White (60g, 70g, 80g)
We will have a plethora of in-hand information and feedback from golfers just like you coming to the THP Community very soon, so stay tuned!
Unable to go wrong with these. Have the Max in 3&5 and have a post closer to the top of the page but these have amazing speed off the face and depending what you’re looking for they all but likely have it.
3’s perfect for that I have the Max and have no issues off the tee with it. I know @MattyD-MPLS has the Max D and is a stick so it’s not necessary for a anti slice purpose and it also has a added degree. Then there is the LS that knocks down the spin if you struggle with too much in that part of the bag.
You won’t regret it
I spin high but this club I’ll take that. A little extra spin will help me keep in in the fairway or land softer. This is a bail out club.
The max does a great job of this for me, the Max D when I tested had quite a bit more on it than the Max. Max is a sweet spot I’d guess for you then. So what are we waiting for ?
They open at 9. My eyes will open at some point during the day tomorrow hahaha I’m gonna do it. Its a part of the bag that needs addressed. Heading to Myrtle next weekend and I’m gonna need a back up option. The Shaft Up Rogue ST driver kinda leads me in this direction to match them up as well.
Oh I know, may I interest you to a Lin-Q Red or Blue depending on what you fit into ?. Danny will get you all hooked up in the Driver and I’ll guarantee he’ll give you outstanding advice on the best fit to go into the 3w as well.
Getting fit into the Max D 3 wood was a big shock but I lean on a 3 wood for the first time in my life with it.
The shallow face will allow you to hit it when you need more fire power than the 3H
He doesn’t realize it but iron shafts will be a rather important discussion for the upcoming Apex or HMPs.
Same boat. I already have one on order from Callaway. Need to ship the UW back to them…
Carry. I was able to back my 3H to its standard 19 degrees and move the G425 to 23 degrees. It changed my set up and fixed the gaps. It’s a sure thing for the bag.
Great to hear it’s working out like you hoped.
Anyway, I offered to switch heads with him so he could have the 15°, and I could make a mini driver out of the 13.5°. Seemed like something that could work out for both of us because I don’t really need a 3w for off the deck. Clearly the hybrid is plenty long for what I play, and I was looking for the wind beater off the tee, which I figured the 3+ could provide.
We made the switch and @xThor hooked me up with a heavier weight since I have the counterbalanced Tensei Orange and figured the added headweight would help with that flat flight. This experiment has been a resounding success!!
This thing fires some head high missiles that just never drop. I’m not really losing any carry distance either but it rolls out like no one’s business and is untouched by any wind I’ve played in. Am I able to hit the high draw with it?? Not like I could with the 15°, but that was a sacrifice I was willing to make. I needed a wind beater for off the tee when I want to get it on the ground and still have the roll.
Surprisingly, I can still launch this thing off the deck too, which I did not expect. I’ve only had to do it once, but I found out that I can.
I haven’t been as good about tracking these shots because they’re usually into the wind and don’t really tell the full story. This one was the first round I had it, and it stood out because this was into a pretty strong wind into and off the right, and the 3+ just flew right under it. Thank you @93civiccpe and I’m going to listen to any and all suggestions @vgolfman has since he seems pretty knowledgeable about this whole equipment thing!

In to the wind with a 3+ and you’re hitting farther than I hit my driver…Like I said in the driver thread

Nice, did you know what you needed to beat or was that your plan going in?
I was first group so I had no idea what was going to happen. It’s a hole that if I fade at all with my driver, I’m screwed and in water so I always hit my 5w here. You run out of room quickly on the right too so anything but a perfect driver swing wouldn’t have hit fairway.
Wasn’t going to change my strategy just to try to win long drive. Ended up piping it and it was right down the middle and that was the winner anyway lol
What’s driving the switch from 3W to 4W?
A 19 and 21* UW and getting the ball in the air well?

I know it’s probably just the honeymoon, but I was shocked at how easy this 3W is to hit off the deck. I haven’t even tried it off the tee yet, as I really did get it for attacking par 5s in two. I will rotate in a 4I for certain courses (mostly league, no need for a 3W there really), but so looking forward to gaming this thing and seeing if I can use it to put myself in some more scoring positions!

Amazingly enough today was the first time I ever swung a Callaway fairway wood (or driver for that matter) both were seriously impressive.
I think these are the best Callaway Fairways to date
Can I have them back now please ?
I noticed you refused to turn your back on me to give me the chance. ??
@e1iterate @Davidhibler @Nappy @AnthonyC @Muchmore18 saw some good hits with those weapons in Myrtle.
Seeing you hit those made me want a couple.
Keep laying up to 235. It’s your sweet spot ?
Sooooo easy to elevate! When my friends struggle with fairways, I urge them to give these a try!
Warning: may cause reckless overconfidence.
Definitely I’ve tried some ill advised shots on Par 5’s trying to cut tree lined corners ?
I saw the most ridiculous 5 wood shot I’ve ever. And then the 3 wood within 20 feet every time.
I should have taken a picture of that 210ish and very small window between the trees shot. I remember us looking around after I hit it because we heard something hit the ground after the shot. We’re looking around on ground 20ft in front of us and @Muchmore18 is like, is that your ball up in rough by the green.
It’s a you thing ??
Unreal shots. 95% GIR with fairways is ridiculous lol
Its gonna become – you finding me a new shaft for it – thing.
Fiiiiinally!!! ?
Haha it was hard to justify using it when I was hitting the 5 sooooooo well
